The motor is mounted waaay too low.
The cavitation is probably level with the bottom of the keel. With the outmount its too low. General rule is for every 12inches mounted away from the transom, go 1 inch up.
At full throttle I can see the top bolts of the lower mount above the water.
The anti cavitation plate must skim above the water.
It will go much faster and be lighter on fuel with the motor mounted higher.
Probably plane quicker too
Well noted! 👍 There was huge setback bracket made for this project and the engine hight was still under testing when I filmed this. That general rule is usually good starting point but rarely the best setup.
I noticed the same thing. Would definitely go better mounted a bit higher.
Sadly the Canadians killed the Evinrude brand , I ran a 1985 90HP for over 25 years with no issues

sadly it seems that only Canadians supported this brand. Every lake here in Ontario has countless boats with etecs on the back. You barley see that anywhere else.

The last rendition s of the Evinrude G2 was and to this day still is the best outboard produced. So good at so many thinks. So sad that they are gone. Hopefully the future can change that

When this thing came out, there was nothing that could respond to it. The 250s and 300s offered an almost perfect symbiosis of 2 stroke and 4 stroke benefits with almost none of the drawbacks of either. What a letdown and mistake the g2 was
What software where you using at the end. I have one of these motors and would like to be able to do more diagnostic and maintenance on my own. Im i America. Thanks

I’m really considering buying a boat with a blown engine and doing a conversion. I really want a 28 foot bow rider formula. Then put on twin 300 G2’s since I’ve seen a bunch of affordable pairs. My question is about the engines. How reliable are the G2’s? I see haters and lovers on those outboards. All I really care about is ease of maintenance. I’m mechanically inclined so I think it would be easy for me to work on them.
I think G2 are great engines if you just maintain them well and use good oil with them.
The engines themselves are fantastic. However, the built-in steering is absolute crap and I believe has killed people by failing abruptly. If you stay on top of the power steering issues, you'll love them
@@sawmaster6095 I’m going to be boat hunting this winter because that’s the time to buy. If I’m lucky I’ll find a cheap tritoon or boat I can do a outboard conversion on. Twin 300’s would be sick and fast.

It depends on 100% how the engine is used and maintained.

I have this exact motor , but when i try to aceelerate to full throttle the rpm its stuck in 1000 rpm , its like the emm is limiting the motor , what is causing this issue?
TPS = Throttle position sensor? 🤔
also make sure your oil system has no air bubles in the lines and the ecm has been set for the correct type of 2 stroke oil you are using. if it is not evinrude xd 100 then make sure you let it know you are using other oil. It matters. there is the possibility that it went into limp mode if you ran low of oil in the resivour...

With good maintanance they are also reliable but I think they have still.more problems than G1. Powerwise both are awesome choices 👌

Yes it was. I already lifted it littlebit but still it needed inch or two lifting.
@@BCB-Boats-Media so many different opinions but the max lift is bottom of the boat half way thru the pickup. for every 10 inches away from the transom raise a inch. Taught to me by Florida mechanics Canadian mechanics dont know shit
BRP knew Evinrude sales were down, covid came at the right time to save face for the brand. People chose fourstroke for many reasons, easy of service being one, no sperical skills or tools reauired.
Etecs are much easier to service than 4 strokes - no pesky oil & oil filter changes etc...plus service interval is 300hrs & it's basically plugs & water pump - easy peasy!

What can be easier to service than a 2 stroke???? There is NO SERVICE. Add oil, fuel, and change plugs once in a blue moon. Fk man . People are stupid

@1gbayfisher These engines are not the two-strokes of old. They are more complicated than you think. Todays four-stroke engines are more powerful and are more reliable. Two-stroke powered bikes and cars have also fallen by the wayside. Heavy duty industrial engines like the Detroit diesel are no longer produced. The concept of two-stroke ICE has some design positives, but overall, the negatives outweigh the positives. The two-stroke may live again, the Mazda motor company of Japan has developed a new two-stroke concept with a wet crankcase and an all new induction system. Cheers

Have an Evinrude 60, love it to death - not 1 issue after 10 years, ZERO smoke, SS prop and runabout 4.35 goes like a dog shot in the @ss - BEST 2 strokes ever created
