    Tech tip I have seen the spark follow the marker line, I make a very short line on the top of the insulator and use die electric grease to insulator it

    • @1Cast1Fish

      Goof tip...I have heard of this happening in a few cases, but can't remember the specifics...like insulation or marker type contributing.

    FYI...If you are applying grease to threads, you are increasing torque value dramatically above 15 or 30lbs. That's fact and a risky move...must use 14mm plug shims if you can't achieve proper index after musical plugs or 30lbs dry thread. Cheers !

    • @toddl5667
      @toddl5667 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The shims will cause more problems than greasing the threads. Don't add shims, find plugs that index correctly.

      I have not made a video on that, however they should be replaced if they start to show signs of wear....normally they are just bolted on and easy to remove and replace.

    For starbord mounting side it s very clear and the indexation is shown. But for the port side indexation is not shown, we easily undestand that spark oplu should be oriented to the injectors (tolerence zone)

    I have a 40hp etec runs terrible at low speed 3mph to 8mph " missing, chugging. Idle seam good, top end is good , had champion plugs switched to nkg iridium plugs the situation got worse ! Would you think e3 plugs might correct this ? An authorized evenrude mechanic did the 3 yrs service and switched out plugs an said he did all the necessary work?? But it runs like crap at low speed ......charged me arm and a 🦵 .... Help !!!!!

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wish I could help, but I am by no means a pro, and it's sounds like it would be tough to diagnose the issue without seeing it. I would check to be sure all the spark plug wires are attached securely, also check the indexing on the plugs.

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dang thats really bad luck with them, sometimes they get real close given a fair amount of play with the torque specs. I usually buy 2 times as many just in case. You can also buy indexing washers, but I remember reading they are not recommended somewhere...but honestly can't remember who or where I heard that from. Might be worth checking with Evinrude and trying.
