    apparently there is a point where the atlantic and pacific oceans meet but don’t mix. similarly, instagram reels is where the humor of boomers who are tired of facebook meets the younger generations and definitely does not mix

      not to be the embodiment of 🤓☝️ but misinformation hurts me lmaoo. the oceans actually do mix, and currents flow between them all the time. the videos you're probably referring to (the viral one with the waters two different colours and fake caption) are actually from just off of canada iirc where glacier freshwater that's rich in sediment (the light body of water) meets the saltwater of the ocean (the dark body of water). basically they were not of the atlantic/pacific but still a cool phenomenon!! :D

    • @carolinacoreas7716

      They do mix. The only reason why there would be a visible line is because of differing temperatures and currents. But they definitely do mix.

    I will say the post about dating a “boring man” actually hit home for me. I think what she is describing definitely could relate to modern dating, but I think what she’s getting at is trauma cycles. Where you constantly put yourself back into chaotic relationships because that is your normal. Your body is used to the chaos of things like abuse, and so you keep going back even though it is detrimental. So when you find someone who isn’t chaotic, your brain can start telling you the person is “boring” and so you break up or self sabotage the relationship because feeling safe feels wrong. Or like you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. I actually really liked the post.

    • @thedatabase677
      @thedatabase677 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +120

      I also think it was really telling that she made sure to put every instance of the word "boring" in quotation marks as a way to show the difference between what someone's perception might be who is stuck in that cycle, versus what reality is. I really don't think it came off as passive aggressive or mean.

    • @shiny_cheyenne
      @shiny_cheyenne 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +70

      I was looking for someone to say something positive about that one! I've heard the same thing from therapists when they tallk about people with trauma. You tend to gravitate toward what's familiar to you, and that can be dangerous or unhealthy relationships.
      I agree with you; I don't think it was passive aggressive. She was calling her husband a safe space and a comfort for her.

    • @shy2infinity
      @shy2infinity 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

      I had a feeling this was the case, since this definitely hit home for me 😅My first two relationships, while not abusive or toxic, were FULL of intense feelings (which proved quite detrimental in my second relationship). Then I met my current GF and she was the exact opposite of everything I'd come to understand as 'normal' No yelling, no getting passive aggressive like my family often did; just pure culture shock. But because my feelings of love and admiration for her are quite different from my previous relationships, I often worry that I'm not actually 'in love' with her and at that point, I kind of have to present proof to my chaos obsessed brain 😅

    • @junohawthorne7658

    I actually do know two grown divorced men and single fathers (as in, full time custody) of four total daughters, and they are completely 100% straight men. They actually are best friends who got divorced under painful circumstances years apart, resulting in the one guy having to sell his house. So he moved in with his best friend.
    And their blended family of two straight bros and their four daughters is honestly so much more wholesome and healthy and happy than most “traditional” families I know. I eat Thanksgiving dinner with them every year lol.

I can only imagine how much happier the kids and the dads are in this situation. I'm so glad that you get to hang out with these guys and their family! that's so cool!

    As far as the “boring” reel, I don’t think she means it as there’s no spark. I think she means that some people are so used to the being treated badly (being left on read on hit up at the last minute instead of planning) that when someone is consistent and caring, it could be seen as boring. You can feel a spark with a “boring” person

    I really liked that take about a safe "boring" guy. While yes, it may look belitting to call someone boring, i really think boring is exactly what i need. My last few relationship crashed and burned with me getting dumped in increasingly soul crushing ways. My current relationship is steady, safe, and has been for 3 long, happy years. My boyfriend is the calm to my neurotic, adhd, anxiety, and depressive episode riddled storm and i love him to bits for it. He completes me.
    Get you a partner that'll blush when you give them a squishmallow for Valentines day...and then play Doom Eternal with you for hours (we passed the controller back and forth).
    Or send you completely unhinged tik toks at three in the morning and is the sole reason you even open Tik Tok to begin with
    Or is willing to go along with and be just as excited about whatever weird niche you happen to be hyper fixating on at the moment, and is perfectly willing to listen to you ramble about slime rancher for hours

I watched it on Chad Chad's channel (I would suggest all of you to watch it too) but basically he's a narcissistic egotistical ass, filming tiktoks about him defending these girls from bullies or him getting bullied (basic tiktok shit). And what is fascinating is that he also filmed that he accidentally pushed a girl and she drops something and when she approaches to pick it up he picks it and goes to smell her front side and she pushes him away. I know this didn't make any sense but honestly I too don't know what was the video about but that's exactly what was shown.

You'll get it then. 😂

      As a woman in my 30s, she’s talking about a history of traumatic relationships, not “wild” ones. She was probably raised by psychologically manipulative and unsupportive and abusive parents or came across all kinds of abuse in her early relationships, and soon after you come to terms with all of it, you are very grateful for how “boring” potential partners are.

    • @saritavenkatapathynaidu9533
      @saritavenkatapathynaidu9533 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Like… let’s not be misogynistic. It’s not a wild phase, is a “cognitive dissonance induced by the realization that the world is unsafe and you can’t know who could harm you.”
      LET ME BE SUPER CLEAR ABOUT THIS:
      We are SO DAMNED GRATEFUL for trustworthy, consistent, caring men with emotional intelligence, the motivation to divide labor equitably, an eye for the hurt of others, and more.
      PLZ BE THE EMOTIONALLY MATURE AND HEALTHY “BORING” GUY (Or gal or pal!) bc I would ADORE the opportunity to get to know you and see if our dreams and values match! Otherwise, you still have so much value and you should work on the dynamic that makes you unable to be that guy, because I also don’t want you to become jaded because it takes hurt and experience to understand how we tend to choose wrong partners for ourselves when we’ve had trauma and especially when it’s unresolved and untreated.
      CHOOSE THE BORING GIRL, TOO! We just need to prioritize the concept of dating to enjoy yourself and not put pressure on what it becomes or to make ourselves less lonely. I know from personal experience that loneliness by itself is very unlikely to kill you, and while that doesn’t do much for your state of being right now, it does suggest an end to that suffering and more importantly: a time in the future where your emotional maturity and frank conversations about who you have turned you into something you didn’t see coming: happiness and contentment.
      We’re all aiming for that, eh?

    • @Catras_unfairly_gorgeous_smirk

      @@saritavenkatapathynaidu9533 As a woman in my 30s who didn't go through any of this to the point where it'd leave marks, I can tell you I feel the exact same way about my partners. And all that happened to me is that I grew older, wiser, out of my 20s and decided stability is more important to me in a relationship than adventure. I'm sorry you went through what you went through, but the plain truth is that the 20s are generally a person's second childhood. For most people, their 20s are the age where they discover all the joys of being an adult and they indulge in it as much as their situation allows. That includes experimenting with sexuality and relationships. This isn't misogyny, this is a fact that applies to the people of pretty much every stable country. Not everything is is a sob story. Some things can just come naturally without trauma having to beat a person there.

    The bad boyfriend video honestly felt concerningly relatable, I am in no way diagnosing someone over the internet, but as someone with borderline personality disorder that is how I felt for a good few years, It's not a healthy attachment style and can be very frustrating and confusing and stressful, you want to be a good person and partner but you just find yourself clingy and freaking out over the smallest things, causing you to lash out, beat down on yourself, or try to control the situation. It can make you scared of even yourself.
    I was horrified of what I was becoming, I was scared I was becoming a bad person fundamentally. It's been years since I was diagnosed with BPD, I have been healing and learning how to cope with it, finding out what it was actually helped a lot with it. Though, I still have my issues of course, It's the ol' emotional dysregulation disorder after all.
    It is something that can cause a lot of issues with your relationships between friends, family, lovers, and change your view on yourself entirely. That video feels like a plea for help to me I suppose.
    Enough rambling though, I hope that man has genuine people in his life he can go to, and I do hope he sees a psychologist or therapist, to find out whatever he's experiencing even if it isn't BPD, I just know it hit a little too close to home personally.
    I supposed I wanted to talk about this since I didn't see anyone else talking about it.
