WHAT AN AWESOME JOB.. Im about to do the same for my 2002.. laid my bike down to avoid a car and now #4 piston has scraped the cylinder walls.. great video
Would it be hard to install a new output shaft. The bike I'm looking at needs a new one. I'm some what mechanically handy but never done anything like this before. Would it be worth it getting and doing it myself? Thanks in advance 👍
Unfortunately CHRIS died 3 months ago. If will be here it will help you with all the explanation you need. By experience i am telling you that IMpossible become POSSIBLE if you want. One of the main secret of CHRIS was the 954 technical manual that you could found on manualslib.
The starter relay by the battery keeps clicking and it won't turn over even when I jump the post, it primes so must be my starter motor.... am I right assuming this
Did you notice any engine vibration with 1000 rr pistons? They are slightly heavier than 954 pistons, and any power increases with 1000 rr cams? I do rebuild too for 954,and searching 1000 rr pistons to swap it
Thanks for responding, so you only drop the 1000 rr pistons and cams in 954 and get that horsepower? You didn't touch cylinder walls? Mine cylinder walls are horrible, so it will be iron sleeved, just engine vibration are my biggest problem but seems that isn't a problem so all good to go with 1000rr pistons 😁
@@iamwolf1635 Pretty sure the stock HP was 154 from the factory on the 954. I think all you did was bring it back to where it was supposed to be by eliminating blowby.
@@lastofthebest5102 151 was at the crank. Don't be so salty. Nice rebuild. I got 2004 cams laying also, and am completely rebuilding a head as we speak. Also planning a big overhaul. Has 145 HP now with old piston rings standard cams. Hehe and still it is a animal.
I want to do this to my bike to make it sound better but everyone on the forums say just run it its a honda and will run forever with a lil piston slap
R.I.P Christian wolf, you will be missed by many😢🙏
Please share what happened to this gentleman?
Rest in Peace Brother
Really great video! I have rebuilt many car engines, but only one Motorcycle, a 1977 RD-400.

Hey you seem really knowledgeable I wish I could find more quick vids on the 954... I just picked up my second one that will probably be a donor...
R.I.P Chris Wolf . You become my angel!!! MISS YOU MY FRIEND!!!!
Did you home the cylinders?

sad
🤙 ride in peace🤙🏍🏍🏍🚲
I'm bout to do the same shit to mine I have 3 of them lol
Can I ask how did you treat the cylinder wall? Also did you buy new OEM pistons?
I didn't touch the cylinder walls. Used OEM pistons taken for a 14k km bike. They were like brand new.
@@iamwolf1635 you what?! ahahah next month you do it again...

Same engine vibration as before. Athe the power is insane. Before the rebuild I had 138hp on Dyno and after 159hp at the wheel.

I didn't touch the walls they were in good condition compared with others. 😂

The cylinders will get cracked.. If u run it forever 😂
@@iamwolf1635 i thought that was just a 03 problem
looking to do the same thing on my 954rr, is the timing chain the same with the different cams?
Yes. OEM chain no issues.
@@iamwolf1635 sweet, thanks for the quick response dude!
@@98austin76 you're welcome. ✌️
Those 04 pistons just fit perfectly?
Straight swap. No mods at all
How did they fit if the 04 has a bigger bore size? You must have had to bore the 954 hole in order to make fit
@@kennethsavatteri2460 The 04 1000rr has a 75mm bore just like the 954rr.
@@kennethsavatteri2460 it has a larger stroke
I have the same problem right now..😢
Sorry.. my condolences
I was so happy to find some one with the same issue on the 954rr
Thanks for writing history ❤
