For sure! The USL Super League runs as a proper winter league like most of Europe so she does have a point about possible scheduling hurdles but where there's a will there's a way!
Great vlog. Despite some teething problems at this initial match, it's great to see and follow via your channel the expansion of soccer - both women's and men's - in the States. Thanks for posting!
"Teething problems" is a good way to describe it. Though some of the issues are being addressed already in time for the second match, which is promising! The club sent this out today: "We're continuing to enhance the Riverfront Stadium experience for you! Game 2 will feature more dedicated water stations, additional Pirate Water Taxis, and will debut our all-new state-of-the-art video board!"
@SoccerZombieSTL that does sound promising. If it improves the matchday experience it's all good! I'm interested to see what they are going to do about the issues caused by the actual sun 😅 Looking forward to your next vlog. Take it easy!
Following a club from its inception is such a cool feeling. Part of why I started rooting for Vancouver FC in the CPL was because of how exciting it felt to know that every new result shaped a new piece of club history.
@@SoccerZombieSTLthe funny thing about that was last season was my first actively following MLS, so I barely knew St. Louis City was new. It was just one of the teams. Now I get it more since I’ve been watching your videos!
Another great video! The atmosphere looked great on TV, and I’m excited to see the league continue to grow. If you haven’t already, I definitely recommend CPKC Stadium and the KC Current, got a chance to check it out this summer and it’s so much fun. I’ll also be there for the Open Cup semifinal, would be great to meet you if you’re okay with it!
Everyone keeps telling me to check out the Current! I just haven't had a proper opening to do so but I guess I need to make some space! And yeah would love to meet you and chat with you about the Open Cup game! I'm riding in with someone who is getting tix so my plans aren't fully firmed up yet.
are they contected to the rowdies? Kinda like how lou city has a woman's team that's the counterpart of the men's? Looks promising though, love the attention womans soccer gets here compared to everywhere else in the world
No connection with the ownership groups. The Rowdies were going to start a women's team in 2020 but a certain pandemic derailed that, and from the looks of things, the Sun's ownership group picked up the flag and marched onward. I did notice league president Amanda Vandervort is from Tampa, so guessing there's a connection there too?
@@topshelfbeas For sure! Just need to work on some things (seating, water taxis, parking prices, cooling options for fans) but it's all fixable stuff. Good start!
Also hoping to check out NYC’s very own Brooklyn FC in one of their first home games! Yes, it’s going to be in a baseball stadium, cuz until 2027 I guess that’s just the fate of every New York soccer team not named Gotham (and that’s in NJ).
Thanks for having me with you. Also cool you got to interview Amanda and ask her about a Women’s US Open Cup. Let’s make it happen!

not a bad score for a first ever game
Yeah, I expected there to be a bit of "getting used to it" with this one but both goals were really nice headers!
great video!
Thank you! Viva la Sun!

Thanks Derek! My next one on the Tampa Bay Rowdies USL Championship club should be out by this time tomorrow!

Seeing the president of the damn league playing drums with the fans is such a contrast with the arm’s length Garber keeps the MLS fanbases at
Totally! Amanda is great!

Tons of free parking in Charlotte. Great set up inside for food etc
