When I heard that Mr. Welliver had been cast, I was thrilled... honestly, not having seen him in anything but "Lost." But Mr. Welliver was to "Lost's" "Man in Black" what Christopher Lee was to "The Lord of the Rings;" "Saruman," which is to say, definitive. And he is the definitive Hieronymous Bosch.
Just watched series 6 during the „more or less“ Corona lockdown in Germany. The episodes were the ultimate highlights of these days. :-) No better way to spend the evenings than watching Bosch and having a little drink. Great books, fantastic actors, love it.
I was a big fan of the books. Initially I didn’t see Titus as Bosch. But honestly he’s made it his own and he plays the role so well with so much intensity. Bosch really is one of the best quality series available. The production in every single way is complete and utter quality of the highest order.
In another Interview Michael Connelly told his side. Of all the actors he didn't think any of them could be as good as Bosch. He saw a performance of Welliver earlier and wasn't sure if he could speak up with the TV people, since he is not from that TV world, but a novelist. So he did everything to get Welliver, they went to Amazon so they can delay casting until they got a chance to meet with Welliver.
As I have said earlier, tis is the first show in decades to make me want to watch it repeatedly. Titus Welliver is a brilliant actor and this show has given him the platform to prove that.

He is perfect for the role! He lost his wife to cancer like I did and I noticed he has a wonderful grey cat! No wonder I identify with him! Love Bosch!
I have been eagerly awaiting every new Bosch book since I started reading them in 1994. Titus Welliver really is what I pictured in my head Harry would be like.
Exactly....I have been a huge Bosch fan from the beginning.....and love just how the show altered the story just a bit.....from tunnel rat to Iraq vet, without screwing things up. The very first episode I remember thinking....they got Bosch!

Great interview. Having read all the books, I wasn't sure how I felt about Titus especially being cast opposite Jason Gedrick who played the Season 1 serial killer. Years ago, a series called Falcone had Jason playing Joe Pistone, and undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the mafia, while Titus was Santino 'Sonny' Napoli. Totally opposite roles. I couldn't stand "Sonny". When their roles flipped and they pulled it off, I was hooked. Now, I think of Titus when I'm reading a Bosch book and even my retired cop friend, loves Bosch. Thanks to Connelly and Titus for finding and giving us Bosch. Glad to hear he reads and loves shelves! One can never have too many books.
When I first saw the series BOSCH introduced on Amazon, I was literally shocked when I saw the face of Titus, the one who played Bosch! He was an exact copy of a friend of mine. We were friends a few years back before he passed away. I was a bit reluctant to watch the series because of my relationship with him, although I decided to watch it nevertheless. Couldn’t believe that while watching the complete series, not only did they look like identical twins, their mannerisms were identical as well! Very scary @ first with all of this, to say the least! Beyond this discovery, my friend whose name was RALPH MORRIS, was part of a lighting crew in Hollywood, before I knew him, plus was a fill-in on the most recent Perry Mason series along with other shows such as Diagnosis Murder. At that time he had played a dead man’s part in a body bag more times than anyone else. Even so, he liked working on the crew that did the lighting on stage for many shows best of all. Looking forward to the next seasons of this series. Makes me feel a bit like my friend is still with me again. Thank you Titus for being in this series! 👍🏻🤗

I tried not to watch too much of Season 6 to avoid watching the entire show in one weekend. I can't get enough of this show... I'm a big Bosch Fan!!! Titus Welliver is the only person on this planet that can play Harry Bosch. In my opinion this is the number 1 show on Amazon!!!! Great Actor!!!
It's good to hear directly from him about his dedication to this character . This is probably my favorite Crime/Drama of the last twenty years .I only wish the seasons were released with greater frequency ...
I've listened to many Harry Bosch novels, but was afraid of being disappointed in the TV series. Titus Welliver's narrations made me believe in Bosch. After watching this interview, I'm ready to watch the series. Match made in Heaven.
I have read all the Harry Bosch novels. As a reader, you know that people will make up an image of how they think a character should think, talk, act, etc. and keep it in their minds as they progress through the material. It's incredible just how much Titus Welliver fits the image I had in place. Watching the shows is like reliving the books, and that's not something I can say often. It was the same way with Matthew McConaughey and Mickey Haller in the Lincoln Lawyer, too. I REALLY hope we get to see Harry Bosch's half-brother in the series.

There are tv shows and there are masterpieces, Bosh is put together in a superb way. The writing is awesome, the locations and the actors! Wow. My most favorite show (cop show) was Hill street blues and Bosh brought so many hours of entertainment. I am re watching it for the 3rd time. Awesome show.

The best cop show in the History of Cop Shows in America. Realistic and FINALLY in LA ! Instead of NYC. This actor makes this series. Well done. Hollywood PD has the greatest potential of any series ever. Hollywood is square one in the World of Crime and celluloid.
Love all Michael Conelly books. Love Bosch character. Titus does a great job as Harry. Love his gray cat and the fact that he reads actual books. Hope to see more of him in Bosch.
I saw Bosch come upon Amazon and saw Mr. Welliver was starring. I turned on the first episode and have been hooked. I have Titus Welliver in a number of shows but I thought the way he played the IRA guy on SOA was so believable I began to wonder if he was really irish and part of the IRA🤔. Obviously not but that was how good he was. So when I saw he had been cast as Bosch I had to watch. Great show. All the actors are so good and the stories are absorbing. Love it.
Nice to see this happen. It’s pretty rare that it does which is why so many series flop so quickly. Connelly is probably the best at this type of story. His characters are so well developed and his stories have such depth and pace that finding the right guy for Bosch is the big reason this series has been such a hit. It helps that Amazon had some deep pockets and gave the production group the quality of supporting cast etc. I hope the series lasts until they use up all of Connellys stories. Tell Michael I’d like a signed set of his books as well. I’m a huge fan.
There are two shows, Breaking Bad and BOSCH that are exceptional and are so much better than anything on else. I had a read about 10 of Micheal Connelly LAPD books before watching the seven seasons of BOSCH and Titus Welliver is perfectly cast as Bosch. I am about to buy three more Bosch books and I will have an image of Titus in my mind when I read them. The rest of the cast of BOSCH are also exceptional, J. Edgar, Jimmy, Maddie, Billets, Moore, Johnson, Chief Irving etc etc

I read a lot of books from a lot of different genres. Love Connelly and especially Bosch. Casting TW as HB was a homerun. I’ve never seen a better book character adaptation in a movie or tv show in my entire life. Only one that ever came close was the kids in Stand By Me.
I likely know verbatim the dialogue of not just Bosch but all the characters. I don’t find it sad because it’s comforting in this crazy COVID mess that I know what is coming up next. I have it on for the company these characters provide and genuinely care about the characters. That doesn’t happened all the time, in other shows. This is only one. All actors and all interactions are so well done and watch over and over. Thank you for such a well done series. I hope I find season 7 on Crave? New series on Crave?
I have been a Connelly fan for years, came in late and had to go back and catch up with The Black Echo. For years I resisted watching Bosch, feeling that it would be a warmed over redo of his novels and I had not know much about Titus Welliver. Well, I have watched all 6 seasons and everything fits to a tee; Titus is superb, the only regret I have is that we have not introduced Mickey Haller into the story line, maybe next season. BTW, Connelly gives Titus props in The Night Fire intro...
I asked Titus about the possibility of Mickey Haller showing up in Bosch on a new episode of Fueled By Death Cast, and he tells a great story about Matthew Mcconaughey - listen to the interview on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or at www.deathwishcoffee.com/titus2
Hello, this is Deputy Chief of Police MacGregor from BOSCH. Interestingly, I have NEVER work in a scene with Titus. It is always in a scene with either Jammier (Jamie Hector), who plays Edgar, or with Chief Irving played by Lance Reddick. The first episode I worked on was a night shoot in south L.A. for season 6 episode 1. In Episode 1 Detectives Marcos and Arias are murdered by the Jamaicans who are paying them off. They are found dead in their patrol car. Cops have sectioned off the scene and my character, MacGregor, is the Ranking Officer in Charge. My character has been temporarily promoted to Assistant Chief of Police due to Chief Irving being on vacation, so I'm wearing three stars on my collar rather than my usual two stars as a Deputy Chief. The Assistant Director came over to those of us dressed as cops at the start and told us to NOT walk-off from the set area, this neighborhood is not friendly to the Police we were informed. Needless to say, no one walked-off the set area. During the night long shoot, the local African-Americans were standing across the street heckling the dead actors and us pretend cops. But it lent to an amazing reality to the scene, cause their hatred was real and unrehearsed even though we were phony Cops. When Jamie drives up and gets out of his car, in his usual suit and tie, I thought HE was Bosch. I'd never seen the show so I didn't know who he was, but he was obviously someone important. Before they shoot Jamie's entrance the Director comes over and gives me his direction for the scene. He tells me to stand back here and speak to the other uniforms. "Normally you'd be over there talking to the Detective, but we want you here for now." Which means: "Don't stand there and interact with the main character, or I'll have to pay you a lot more money." The next time they call on me is in Season 6, Episode 2 at the home of the "Sovereign Citizens" whom they think have made a dirty bomb. The FBI is there in force as well as LAPD, and I'm standing in the intersection in front of the house directing everything. It is a day shoot, it is in the upper 80's, and we are all wearing black uniforms, (fortunately, I'm not wearing a bullet-proof vest like all the other cops). Everyone is dripping with sweat by mid-afternoon. I felt sorry for the poor guys who were in the Bomb Disposal suits...talk about a portable sauna... Every time the director yelled "Cut", everyone ran for the shade before it was all taken. There were plenty of cold cans of Coke drink. While baggies filled with ice-cubes were inserted in the pockets and inside my undershirt keeping my core-body temperature down. Just before lunch, the head of Costumes comes over to me and says "Tonight after wrap, don't put your uniform with all the others, they are making you a regular character on the show, so we need to keep your uniform separate." When I learned of my character's name MacGREGOR, I was wondering if it was an omen. I'm Scottish and Clann Gregor (Clann MacGregor), and my Clann (Clann MacInnes), are very close. Turns out it was a good sign. But was it good, really? Now that I'm an established character, I cannot be used as an ordinary cop on the show, the Character MacGregor has to be in the scene. So I've actually lost a lot of days of work as an ordinary cop. The last time I worked the show was in the scene later in Season 6 Episode 9, at the fund-raiser for Chief Irving's Mayoral run. Now, with all Hollywood closed, no one is working. It should get very busy when this COVID-19 passes. Maybe I'll finally do a scene with Titus, and maybe they'll call me in more...we can only hope. Be safe and well People... That is an order! Deputy Chief of Police MacGregor over and out.
I absolutely love Welliver in everything he's done. I have an issue with the paper book vs ebook comment. I used to think the same way until I started travelling a lot for my job. Dragging books around, the weight and space required, Ease of access, ( you can read anywhere, including in the dark), read multiple books at the same time and your whole library is available wherever you are. I have a collection of over 10,000 ebooks. That's a lot of paper. They also deteriorate over time. Paper books don't travel well, can get ruined by water, fire or abuse. My ebooks are as fresh and pristine as the day I acquired them. The internet is my bookstore and I'm not troubled by books being out of print.
Very true. I also do a lot of travelling with my job and had to account for the weight of 3-4 paperbacks. That said - who wouldn't want first edition signed books by the author? Not just one - but the whole set. I'd be happy to have them on my bookshelf.

@@rigger8722 Personally I don't get the "signed, first edition" thing. A book is a book. Electronic or paper doesn't alter the words. But I appreciate your opinion and obvious love of reading!
@@milesobrien2694 -Its simply because there is no way for the author to sign a digital copy. Hardcopy signed copies (by popular authors, such as Michael Connelly) - and first edition ones at that - are always going to be more collecteable and valuable. A whole set of signed first edition copies is going to be valuable to someone. That said - I'm in 100% agreement with you about the portability of ebooks, be it on a kindle reader or kindle app on a tablet or phone.

Great to see a series that is dark & well written. No hand-holding, 'you are special' BS. Bosch stands out among all the cr*p on TV these days. It's shocking the network allowed a male-lead series on the air. Love it!

I can't either. Since Season One, Titus has been Bosch for every Connelly novel I read.
I agree...

Hard to think of anyone else, he is so good. Tim Roth might be suitable.
Titus Welliver does an excellent job playing the role of Bosch. Kudos to Michael Connelly for waiting and searching until he got the right guy.

So true! I cannot think of Harry Bosch without Titus anymore - they are almost one and the same!
Hey that's great to know, thanks!

the fit is beyond perfect Thank you Mr Welliver and Michael Connelly
Bosch is a great show, Titus and others did a wonderful job...thanks
Bosch is a great show. Connelly is a master and Titus brings Harry to life.
Cat: hey! Pet and talk my man! Don’t leave me hanging 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
I just started this show. It is so good and he is so good in the role.
Loved hill Street blues
Man, Hill Street Blues. Old school. Ever see Homicide: Life on the Street?
@@CantankerousDave oh god yes. Great show. Andre Braugher from Brooklyn 99 was awesome in that show. Who can forget "the box"?

The best cop show in the History of Cop Shows in America.
Realistic and FINALLY in LA ! Instead of NYC.
This actor makes this series. Well done.
Hollywood PD has the greatest potential of any series ever.
Hollywood is square one in the World of Crime and celluloid.
That’s how I read some books , solid performance, great acting, enjoyed Bosch very much.
Love all Michael Conelly books. Love Bosch character. Titus does a great job as Harry. Love his gray cat and the fact that he reads actual books. Hope to see more of him in Bosch.
I love this show! I can't imagine anyone else doing it but you. The rating is fabulous along with the acting. Bravo! And a man that loves cats!
Love it.
One of my all time favorite shows, Titus is Bosch, got 2 episodes of season 6 to finish in about 10mins
Excellent Series! Titus is superb in his role as Harry Bosch!
I just fell in love with Titus all over again when I saw him with his cat~IMO a man is a real man who loves cats.
By far the best scripted and acted show! I binge right through every season. I hope it get another season in.
Watched season 1 thought it was good but season 2 is even better. Great writing and story lines. Can’t wait to see the other seasons. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I only watched Bosch because I recognized Titus from Deadwood. Glad I started watching it. Great show.
Titus was perfect for Bosch. The dude is such a grounded and versatile actor.
Love this show. He certainly makes it easy on the interviewer. ;)
Titus Welliver is fabulous as Bosch. I love the SHOW.
Yeah, Titus is the best in this Busch role. Its his role FOREVER!
Great season 6 ! I’m in the middle of it now ! Titus Welliver does a great job ....a natural . First saw him ‘Deadwood’ .
Good to see Titus reading real books. He's the man!!
One of the best character castings ever
We had just visited a museum with his father’s amazing art when we saw Bosch. It all made sense. Same artistic passion with restraint.

Amazing Job portraying an amazing character...RJ
love this series. All the actors are awesome.
Bosch is a great series. I am on current season and it is so good. H e seems like a nice fellow. I want to get a pair of Ohm Walsh speakers.
I friggen love this show!
Titus should have had a lead role long before Bosch.
I would love to see the audition tape!
"Normally you'd be over there talking to the Detective, but we want you here for now."
Which means:
"Don't stand there and interact with the main character, or I'll have to pay you a lot more money."
The next time they call on me is in Season 6, Episode 2 at the home of the "Sovereign Citizens" whom they think have made a dirty bomb.
Just before lunch, the head of Costumes comes over to me and says
"Tonight after wrap, don't put your uniform with all the others, they are making you a regular character on the show, so we need to keep your uniform separate."
When I learned of my character's name MacGREGOR, I was wondering if it was an omen.
There will be a spin-off show coming out in 2022. With some of the cast.

@@Deathwishcoffee I love Coltrane. Been a fan every since my brain could handle jazz.
He is perfect for Busch! Can't imagine any one else in this role!
fabulous character

Great to see a series that is dark & well written. No hand-holding, 'you are special' BS. Bosch stands out among all the cr*p on TV these days. It's shocking the network allowed a male-lead series on the air. Love it!
I love the show and Titus especially. I also enjoy his fellow cast members. I became a fan of Lance Reddick while watching Fringe.
