I have read all the Michael Connelly Bosch novels, and I can't think of a better actor to play Bosch than Titus Welliver. Also, we need a show where Katee is a detective.
If you hear Connelly talk about it, they had given up, when Titus came in, they were basically blown away. For me, the casting is insanely perfect, having read every book, usually a few times. . .
Titus Welliver has done an amazing job bring Harry Bosch to life. He is a complicated, damaged and driven character. His priority is to always stand up for the folks that don't have a voice of their own. As a vet, Bosch and Reacher are my two favorate literary characters. Keeping Mimi Rogers in the show as Money Chandler has been genius. Mimi is doing incredible work as well.
Its rare that a show or Movie is as good as the book! Titus makes it right on!!!! I am so loving his character that only he could play it right! They should bring it back, Rehire him on the force.
Have read all the Bosch books. Very difficult to cast an actor after the series has existed for so long and the readers have a distinct vision of who the character is. With Welliver they nailed it.
Read the first several Bosch novels, and was a fan of TW before he was cast, so was super happy he was going to play him, Loved the show as well of course.....
I’m a huge Michael Connelly novel fan. Absolutely love Bosch , Titus welliver is Bosch and can’t fathom anyone else in that role. Tremendous interview Katee.
I can't see anyone but TW playing Bosch. I never read the books, so I hope he fits what everyone expects. It's one if my favorite shows in recent years.
Another Reason I Love My Brother So! He always Cares More to others than Promting Himself&He's Been Bosch Since I was 10yrs Old!!! TRUE BROTHER FROM MAINE&To Today's Wonderful Intrview!! BEEN THRUGH SO MUCH IN Life!! A True Man You'll Ever Meet!! Says Those Who Knew Him Then&We Love His Advancement to Bosch Way Before Casted&Thank You Mr C For Casting Our Brother from Maine!!! An Actor,Dad Extraordinaire,&Most Importantly,A Friend!! You Get What&Who He Is Every Interview&All His Accomplishments to Come!!
Never read the books but I've really enjoyed the series and Titus Welliver as Bosch. Looking forward to more! (Best thing in the world when you go to work with a smile on your face every day.)
Bosch is my favourite American show, speaking as a Brit. The spin off is superb, great writing, a really great cast. Titus nails the part as Harry 👍 I’m looking forward to watching many more seasons. Great interview, thanks 🙏 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Katee Sackoff, you are one of my fav actors. Very stunning lady with presence. Excellent wee snippet with Titus. Titus really is a good fit, he potrays Harry's general disdain very powerfully. I think Titus plays this brooding quiet man with unrelenting strength through his perserverence exceptionally well. I am bingeing this at the moment. Harry is quite a scary guy. Its the quiet emotion. Heavily passive aggressive. Not easy to get along with. I have always liked Titus' voice. The gravelly deep tone of his voice with velvet undertones. Brilliant.
Hey Katee! Thanks so much for sharing this interview! Years ago in the 90s I remember seeing Michael Connelly's books in the public libraries (aging myself, i know) and at the time, I think I was too young to be interested in them (I was in middle/high school). Fast forward to my husband and I living in downtown LA and we come across Bosch on Amazon in its first season. WE WERE HOOKED. I binged all the audio books at the time and waited on the edge of my seat for each new season to come out. The way Michael writes about LA, the way Bosch connects himself to the city --- it's SO GOOD. I love how he sprinkles in real life events into his fictional Bosch world (like mentioning the "LAPD Rampart scandal" in the show, season 4 --- that's a real life event) and he name drops so many real life restaurants, tourist spots and areas in LA that we have been to/lived by/driven by, etc. Then, Titus started narrating the audio books on top of doing the series! omg. Honestly, the books and series are a match made in heaven. Titus truly did bring Bosch to life. When you read/listen the books, you really do picture Titus as Bosch! His acting is so phenomenal in this role - it has kept my whole family hooked on Bosch, Bosch Legacy and now we're waiting for the spinoff w Maggie Q (Ballard) to come out.
I’ve read all of the Bosch books and have watched the Bosch shows. It’s difficult to balance the maintaining of the core elements of the character with the development of the character as he would change normally through a realistic life. Michael Connelly does this masterfully in the writing of the books and Titus Welliver conveys it masterfully when he portrays Bosch on the screen. The core of Bosch is constant even as he gains life wisdom over his life. It’s the struggle as personal experiences change what we had previously thought to be true, or reinforces it.
I have read almost all the Bosch books ... and the rest are sitting on the bookshelf, waiting to be read. In my mind, Welliver IS Bosch. I love this series, both incarnations.
The Bosch series is the best "cop show" in the history of TV. Having read most all of the Michael Connelly novels, I am convinced that Titus Welliver is the best man for the role. I hope there is more to come. I would like to know if Titus is as passionate about jazz as Harry?
There are some actors that are so much the character from the script no one else could play it. Titus is Bosch, period. He is brilliant and captivating to watch. Like Cillian Murphy is Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. James Spader is Raymond Reddington in the Blacklist.
Great interview! (Btw I LOVED you in Longmire!). I loved Titus in NYPD Blue and was excited he was going to play Bosch.he is perfect for the role. I love how they made the city of LA a character, as well as the jazz music. Everyone was so excellent in this. Unfortunately Amazon Prime has completely destroyed the watching experience so I haven’t been able to watch Bosch legacy… 😢
Funnily enough, with a bit of a Katee connection, I visualised Edward James Olmos as Bosch when I read the books. The show is just fantastic though, and Titus IS Bosch.
I had read several Hieronymus Bosch books and then the TV series came along and apart from the time frame difference Titus was Hieronymus Bosch. I was reading a title for the first time and it seemed like I was having _deja vu_ because I was sure I had read the book previous and I knew I hadn't. It took till about halfway through the book that I realised I had watch the TV series of that book. Didn't know about Ballard being a Bosch spinoff so looking forward to that. I have trouble finding "her" books for my eReader.
Next time go to the home depot and get a portable AC, set it up in one room. Hang blankets across any openings to rooms you don't need to cool, and all sleep in one room if possible. Otherwise get two portable ACs, one for you and hubby and one for the kids.
Thanks for Thanking me.. Bosch is a funny show. Based on a mean book .. including the adventures of Private Eyes.mm strange coincidence, I once worked for an investigator named Titus C.W. haha
I have read all of the Bosch novels from the start, I do enjoy them and I am waiting for the next one in 2 weeks. I started watching Bosch, the series. The first one was good, I remembered the book. When it was time for the second season, I watched 2 episodes and lost interest. I don't know if it was the writing for the acting. I have never gone back. Is Titus Welliver the best Bosch for me, I will never know.
Opening the windows actually makes it worse , it brings the atmosphere from outside that is hot inside. You want to separate from it and then use things like fans to cool the internal atmosphere down
He's terrific. He was great in Deadwood and inhabits Bosch, which is a fine series of books. Jamie Hector is also excellent, a vry diifferent character than The Wire.
I read every Harry Bosch book. At first I thought Titus could not play Harry Bosch because of the image in my mind. After one episode I knew I WAS WRONG.
No AC, OMG. I grew up when most people DID NOT HAVE THAT. Here is an Old School trick, place some ice in cold water in a bowl and dunk one hand. As your blood cools it will circulate and cool you down. Bosch is a great show, hard hitting solid cast and well written.
I love Titus. He seems so down to earth and sexy ooh my😮. Those beautiful eyes or I should say bedroom eyes. Loving Bosch. I also have been watching another Michael Connelly series The Lincoln Lawyer. God Bless 😊
I love the Bosch series, have to say it is my favorite cop show right along with NYPD Blue. I'm surprised about the tats Titus has, I always assumed they were make up for his Bosch character. I was surprised to see him with tats unless maybe he is filming now.
After listening to EVERY SINGLE audiobook in this series, WHO ELSE could ever play Bosch but Titus Welliver. And really, TMI. Are you really discussing your incredibly personal, so NONE of my business, private female issues with Titus Welliver⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️I’m here drooling lustily over him and you’re talking, not about his stuff, but YOUR womb⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ Such different priorities.
I hope the new season doesn't go the route most Hollywood projects do these days. Small women protagonists who physically manhandle men double their mass is just not believable.
It’s not that easy to just pack 2 kids up with all their stuff and just head to a hotel. Especially when the A/C could come back on at any point. They were fine.
Let’s end Outer Range after two seasons, let’s end Patriot after one season, let’s prematurely end any good show Amazon has ever had, but keep Bosch for several years. A show almost nobody watches. Amazon is a joke.
Bosch is the perfect alignment of great writing, casting, acting and directing. Nothing better in the genre
I have read all the Michael Connelly Bosch novels, and I can't think of a better actor to play Bosch than Titus Welliver. Also, we need a show where Katee is a detective.
If you hear Connelly talk about it, they had given up, when Titus came in, they were basically blown away. For me, the casting is insanely perfect, having read every book, usually a few times. . .
Not a detective but she is great as a deputy in Longmire!
I have to agree with the sentiment. Titus fits the character well.
"Also, we need a show where Katee is a detective." That is a great idea! Should we be good in that role.
Like CSI and Longmire?
He is so good at playing Harry! I crave more from his character. I really miss it!
_Everyone counts or nobody counts._ 👍👍
Titus is the PERFECT Harry Bosch. One of my all time favorite shows. Read every Bosch book due to the show. Thank you Michael Connelly.

Since Bosch was made I have read most of the books. Can't get enough. Thanks for the interview.
I can't see anyone but TW playing Bosch.
I never read the books, so I hope he fits what everyone expects. It's one if my favorite shows in recent years.

Great interview Katee! I had read the Bosch books prior to the show. Titus really does embody Bosch well.
I LOVE BOSCH AND BOSCH LEGACY, DEFINITELY ONE OF BEST CRIME SHOW ON TV FOR SURE AND HOPE TITUS WILL ALSO BE ON THE SPINOFF❤❤❤🎉🎉
Connelly writes books that are absolutely riveting. I found it hard to put them down. Both the Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer are so great.
Great interview! Titus’s performance is compelling, and the way he talks about Harry and the whole process is so interesting! 😁 Thanks both.😊
what a great story about landing the role. i rewatched and binged Bosch it's so compelling.
Never read the books but I've really enjoyed the series and Titus Welliver as Bosch. Looking forward to more! (Best thing in the world when you go to work with a smile on your face every day.)
Totally love Bosch and the spinoff!! One of my all time favorite shows!!

Haven't read the books, but I love both "original" Bosch and Legacy. Have re-watched both multiple times. Keep up the great work!
Katee Sackoff, you are one of my fav actors. Very stunning lady with presence.

You really are Harry Bosch. Thoroughly enjoy your show. More, please.
Thanks!
Bosch is one of my favorite shows. And Titus seems like someone it would be really cool to just sit and have a beer with.
I’ve read all of the Bosch books and have watched the Bosch shows. I’m glad I was finally able to find the show and have been enjoying it since the beginning. Titus is great!
One of best top 5 shows in the last 15 years !!
Absolutely brilliant series both Bosch and Bosch Legacy. I've just finished watching them all for 3rd time ❤
I’m a fan. Looking forward to any new episodes.
Love the series....Titus rocks it. Guess I'll have to read the books too! Just found your podcast Katee, what a treasure!!
Great Show! Love it !
I enjoyed this series very much. I will watch all spinoffs. Such great actors.
I have read almost all the Bosch books ... and the rest are sitting on the bookshelf, waiting to be read. In my mind, Welliver IS Bosch. I love this series, both incarnations.
Great Interview Katee 🙂 🎉
Great to you ya “Vic”. Get on BOSCH!
Great interview, thank you both. Subscribed.

Love Bosch! So glad they are keeping it going.
I was hooked from the first episode.
Great interview 👍

Both of you are brilliant.
Loved Bosch and currently enjoying the Lincoln Lawyer, read heaps of the books. Would really love if the could somehow fit into that show in some way.
Was so glad that he finally got lead. 🙂
Funnily enough, with a bit of a Katee connection, I visualised Edward James Olmos as Bosch when I read the books. The show is just fantastic though, and Titus IS Bosch.
Wow! I envisioned Benedict Cumberbatch.🤣😂🤣‼️Naw. I only listened to these on audiobooks, so no one but TW ever entered my mind🥰
Love Titus! He played a great character in Supernatural.
Excellent! Love Bosch!
TW plays that roll perfect, it will be cool to see another season
This is where I learned to put the syrup in the plate and then add the pancakes. 😂 PURE GENUIS❗️
Best series on the tele.
Fantastic series
I had read several Hieronymus Bosch books and then the TV series came along and apart from the time frame difference Titus was Hieronymus Bosch.

You talk like they are millionaires spending money at will...wait a minute they ARE!
First saw Titus on NYPD Blue as Sipowitz’s doctor!
How is Lances family?) so sorry for the losses... Irving Irwin!! Maggie, Josie, Mimi Rodgers, Jamie, Amy Aquino...
Maddie Linst
Well, Lance is/ was so young... Waa
Thanks for Thanking me.. Bosch is a funny show. Based on a mean book .. including the adventures of Private Eyes.mm strange coincidence, I once worked for an investigator named Titus C.W. haha

Can't wait for new season for Bosch Legacy.
been waiting on another Bosch season. Can't get enough. Too long in between.
Next time place a bowl of ice in front of the fan. It really helps😊❤
Titus Welliver is great with strong writers
I loved Bosch. I couldn’t take Bosch Legacy when Amazon added the commercials.
I started listening to audio books of bosch, am saddened that we will only receive one last season.
Funny i thought he was Irish . Great actor, best wishes from Ottawa.
He played an Irish character on Sons of Anarchy, that might be why
The perfect Bosch ❤
[8:23] Titus had to work at it, to get all those picture frames so much arranged and on the level :-)
LOL my A/C went out on me in July in Arizona 110 temps 98 would have been a cake walk
You should consider a Daikin Fit A/C system. Amazingly quiet and 30% more efficient. I just installed one in my house and it’s amazing.
I like his acting, and he has gray hair like me. I just thought he would look older by now?
I had no idea TW suffered so many losses.🙏
Welliver is great in that roll. I was thinking of Mel Gibson originally.( Edge of darkness type character)
I love Titus. He seems so down to earth and sexy ooh my😮. Those beautiful eyes or I should say bedroom eyes. Loving Bosch. I also have been watching another Michael Connelly series The Lincoln Lawyer. God Bless 😊

For a moment the Bosh spinoff was A/C repair and fertility specialist?
I was ever so slightly appalled at the IVF talk‼️🥴
He is the perfect Bosch
At 1:09 She starts Describing what Florida was like to live in circa 1965. lol Nobody was on a diet.
Encore, Encore
Titus is very cool and I love him as Bosch, but Muse Watson from Prison Break and NCIS would've been my choice for Bosch.
Starbucks!
I would keep watching Titus as Bosch season after season til Harry is living in a nursing home trying to solve who stole the jello.
First season of Bosch was brilliant. Got progressively less Bosch moving forward.
Somehow I think Katee could have gone to a hotel when it was 98 degrees. And should have with kids.
It’s not that easy to just pack 2 kids up with all their stuff and just head to a hotel. Especially when the A/C could come back on at any point. They were fine.
I lost interest in Bosch Legacy when, in season two, the series focused on his daughter Maddie.
I found her very annoying.
Let’s end Outer Range after two seasons, let’s end Patriot after one season, let’s prematurely end any good show Amazon has ever had, but keep Bosch for several years. A show almost nobody watches. Amazon is a joke.
As are you. And I am sure you'll be happy to learn it's been dumped.
Love Bosch and never miss. No fan of this woman.
Thank you.
Did I hear you right? You're in Portland now? After all that work you put into renovating your house in L.A.?
From LA to Portland. Are these people cursed? From hell to below hell.
