No matter the subject of the video; it’s always a pleasure to go along for the ride . Thanks again Jimmy for a very satisfying experience . Few years ago just after retiring , I helped my son in law restore his great grandfathers garden and work tools over the course of the year.. as he gardened with these tools he very much appreciated the new life we gave them. Also we bonded too. I’ve since then restored old tool chests for repurposing ( blanket chests and toy boxes ) . Most of this stuff was one step away from being trashed …. Very rewarding .
Many ask about the finishes: First I coated with Weaver “Gum Tragacanth” and than sanded little more. Then finished with Weaver “Tuff kote” thank you all xo
The stacked leather on those hammers looks great. My coworker recommended this channel to me and he was right on. This is the kind of stuff I do. I even restored a similar Craftsman hammer a few years ago. Coool. I need to film more of my builds.
Holy crap look at the size of that sanding wheel!! Love this channel!

City slicker from Hollywood California who appreciates the talent that the Lord has given to you. Thank you always entertaining us with your talent! Good post!
I love the way he marries tools and techniques across disciplines like metalwork, woodwork and leather crafts. I particularly like the use of the bandsaw on the third hammer to gracefully carve the profiles into the leather handle wrap. Always fun to watch and always something to learn.
Mr. Diresta , Thank you once again for showing us what is possible in our own home work shops !!! & please sir continue to protect your eyes , your lungs , & your hearing while you work so hard for us !!!
Old rusty hammers is makin this boomer wistful, the beauty of that era is with a little elbow grease and ingenuity you're back in business and not bad lookin either
Oustanding results, on oustanding hammers. I have my father's leather handled Eastwing hammer that is more than 60 years old. I now have a how to tutorial for restroing it. Thank you sir!
Wow. Better than new. I love how when Jimmy is working on a hammer no matter what he’s doing to it he has to tap it on the things. Master Maker Fixer Craftsman.
I have owned a sheet metal hammer with the same type of handle for 40 years,if it does start to come apart I know where to send it. I love watching any tool being brought back to life,it's even better when the restoration looks as good as the factory quality. Great job as always, I envy your patience, it would have took me 10 pots of coffee to cut all those leather pieces.
17:25 A few days ago I see his TH-cam channel and I feel in every work of his what I see a craftsman, a magnificent craftsman. I admire every masterpiece he does. A hug for you and your collaborators. God bless you🙏
It’s nice to see tools being put back into service. My push edger with its fresh fluids, welded frame, and aftermarket carburetor, are thankful for people that maintain instead of replace.
Thanks for this video! As an aspiring maker with a shed full of old tools from my grandpa's old shop, mostly chisels, hammers and files, it's nice to see a process of bringing them back to life.
I would have been digging for a power tool to remove those handles while you’re sniping a line with the claw of another hammer 😂 I love restorations and this one didn’t disappoint!
Those hammers looked like a "someday" project whose day had come. That's always a good thing. Trouble is, that for every "someday" project that gets done, there seems to be a hundred that remain. Good resto Jimmy.
I really enjoyed this video..and the restoration of these three hammers made up for the destruction of two perfectly good hammers in the video about making the extra long hammer!…👍🇬🇧
There’s something about watching your videos playback at high speed that makes me think “Look how quick and effortless this project is...I could totally do this!” Lol
I love tool restoration videos. Great video as always. I'll come back later to see how many safety extremists come in to scold you for striking the hammer faces together 😎 Great vide.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! How did you get my dad's hammer? No joke, the one fully wrapped in electrical tape looks like the hammer my dad had when I was growing up.
As an Estwing fan boy (current count 21) this is a great resto project. When I have done stacked leather I glued the discs but I see it isn''t really necessary. Great workmanship!!!

Вы дали вещам, вторую жизнь👍👍👍👍👍
Seeing Jimmy shaping the leather on the bandsaw reminds me of a takeaway kebab being shaved off the spindle. Great work as always!
😂😂
Honestly! I’m starving now and I’ve probably eaten worse!

Love a bit of elephant leg

You didn't use vinegar? That stops rust dead in it's tracks. It costs maybe a few dollars for a gallon, what did that vat of rust remover cost you?
The stacked leather on those hammers looks great. My coworker recommended this channel to me and he was right on. This is the kind of stuff I do. I even restored a similar Craftsman hammer a few years ago. Coool. I need to film more of my builds.
Nice job as usual Jimmy. I hope you, your family and shop survived the recent storms intact. Stay well.

Thank You 🙏🏼
Just restored an Estwing hatchet the same way. Used an old firewood carrier for the leather. Super satisfying. Beautiful work!
Watching you carve things with the band saw is my happy place, jimmy.

Hello Jimmy Diresta beautifully done my friend
Brilliant work as usual Jimmy. You have inspired me to restore some of my grandfather's old tools.
The stacked leather handle is such an iconic look. Thanks for sharing!
Jimmy DiResta, the NEW 'M.C. HAMMER'! Dope job!
Love seeing the manufacturing technique evolving along the build, finding better and faster ways to get the job done!
Estwing hammers are such classic staples of the workshop. My dad had two. Give them a new life, brother!
Mr. Diresta , Thank you once again for showing us what is possible in our own home work shops !!! & please sir continue to protect your eyes , your lungs , & your hearing while you work so hard for us !!!
You are the master of PATIENCE!!!!!!!!!

There is something unexplainably beautiful about a stacked leather handle.
Wow. Better than new. I love how when Jimmy is working on a hammer no matter what he’s doing to it he has to tap it on the things. Master Maker Fixer Craftsman.
Bless you, Jimmy, for saving those Estwings. You're a saint.

I am building a two story workshop on my property and you have been part of the inspiration
Love those old Estwing leather-handle tools, and I do have a couple that could use new handles. Thanks for showing how to fix them.
so beautifull. thank you for sharing and the love for good old fasion made tools.
Very talented use of a bandsaw as a sculptor!
Beautiful
Since a long time the first JdR Video again & still love it so much, especially the master on the bandsaw.
Crazy satisfying video to watch! Nice work
Nicely hammers !!!👍👍👍
The finesse on the bandsaw gets me every time!
Your creativity and skills are without bounds.
Got to love an Estwing hammer! The bandsaw work reminds me of the great Sam Maloof. 👍
love to watch you work so enjoyable
It’s nice to see tools being put back into service. My push edger with its fresh fluids, welded frame, and aftermarket carburetor, are thankful for people that maintain instead of replace.

Hello dear l am big fan of you.Your projects are very very interesting.
Really peaceful to watch you punch every single one of thoese pieces of leather!
Thanks for this video! As an aspiring maker with a shed full of old tools from my grandpa's old shop, mostly chisels, hammers and files, it's nice to see a process of bringing them back to life.
Was fascinating to watch you take those old gross hammers and turn them into virtually new ones. You really are good at what you do.
Man, you can move super fast when you put your mind to it!
Great video Jimmy. Thanks
Man with many tools, and knows how to use them

🥰
Always amazed by your skill an confidence on the bandsaw 👍
I would have been digging for a power tool to remove those handles while you’re sniping a line with the claw of another hammer 😂 I love restorations and this one didn’t disappoint!
My computer teacher who teaches 3D modeling shows these videos on our Cromebooks and I brought my earbuds and it sounded so satisfying 🙌
Well done jimmy as all ways. Stay safe happy trails.
I think the earth pulls slightly off axis every time Jimmy fires up that huge disk sander. What a beast.
Truly a master of your craft.
I'll take the really pitted up one. Love it! I have one just like it from way back in the day. It's almost like new. Just well loved.
And now I know how leather handles are made. As always, job well done.
Classic Diresta Video!
I love his leather skills and videos. They are awesome.
After watching this i now have to do my axe and hammer , great work restoring those three 👍👍👍
Amazing work Jimmy! And nice way to use epoxy in the final moment. Thumbs up!
Thank you Weaver.
Those hammers looked like a "someday" project whose day had come. That's always a good thing. Trouble is, that for every "someday" project that gets done, there seems to be a hundred that remain. Good resto Jimmy.
True.
Nice restorations, hammers like new.
Now that's what I call a successful hammer makeover! Great work Jimmy! 👍👍😉😉🔨🔨🔨
I really enjoyed this video..and the restoration of these three hammers made up for the destruction of two perfectly good hammers in the video about making the extra long hammer!…👍🇬🇧
😝😝😝😍
Beautiful work Jimmy.
Awesome work as always. I guess I always thought these handles were wrapped, but this makes a lot more sense. What a cool process to see.
Pro-Tip: If you install the Tuff Kote with a rag or old t-shirt (instead of a brush or sponge) it'll avoid getting bubbles in the finish.
Nice work as always Jimmy!! They look great!
Once the leather oil went on the handles,
I’m sure a heard a collective “ooohhhh” from the universe!!!
Nothing like a good ol Jimmy Direstoration
There’s something about watching your videos playback at high speed that makes me think “Look how quick and effortless this project is...I could totally do this!” Lol
I love vids like these too many people just throw good stuff away
Thanks Jimmy, my grandpa told me that he would teach me how to do this but passed away before he got the chance. Love your videos and brand.
Thank You ✊🏻
With the amount of those handles you've made I'm surprised you didn't make a custom punch to cut the inside and outside shapes at once.
Yeah seemed like a lot of work this way
That's what I thought, too.
Maybe he has a lot of time, I don’t have the tools or the want to, to do this
@@dirtfarmer7472 he definitely does not have a lot of spare time...
I'd be thinking of using some kind of hydraulic press to cut the leather for so many hammers
Can just imagine how long this process took. Fantastic as usual jimmy.
The shot when you were bandsawing the first hammer handle reminded me of sheep shearing. Nice work!
Reminded me of shawarma
Gj! Love you channel! You were one of the influences to start this channel!
I do love the sound of metal hitting metal.
Outstanding job on the hammer handles. They look better than new.
Oddly very soothing to watch.
Estwig hammers beautifully restored again as good as new
Excellent work! When he is shaving the leather on the bandsaw, it reminds me of Al Pastor tacos.
Nice restoration well done they look amazing
Great work!
Yep... keep everything!! One day... you'll need it!! AKA: Inspirational materials!!
As an Estwing fan boy (current count 21) this is a great resto project. When I have done stacked leather I glued the discs but I see it isn''t really necessary. Great workmanship!!!
Great use for your scrap leather. They look great!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Just like new…the end result is amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful work. Wow. I have a couple hatchets that need their leather stack handles replaced.
Very interesting project and restoration.
