    Hello Olivio and thank you for the time you spent making us some great tutorials on our favorite software.
    This last one requires a little more attention to the listening but as always it's ok.

    Hi Olivio! Hope you are well! I'm trying to down size an image measuring 1793px x 1294px for a Facebook profile image but when I downsize it just goes really blurry. The new image I 'place' the large image on to is 170px x 170px and both are 300 DPI. It also goes blurry if I just change the size on the actual large image. Please send help, haha! :) Thanks so much!

    I’m trying to learn more about upscaling-can’t Affinity Photo upscale in Resize Document or in Export?

  • @renehouse2015
    @renehouse2015 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Olivio - I'm confused and correct me if I'm wrong... when you increase the picture from say 400x600 pixels to say, 1600x1800 pixels that's just increasing the picture size. It isn't increasing it's resolution. If you increase the picture from 72 dpi to 300 dpi then that would be increasing the resolution right?

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rene, the Pixel x Pixel is the resolution. If someone says it's a 2 megapixel image, that is simple the result of solving that multiplication. So a 1920 x 1080 screen has a 2.073.600 pixel resolution. DPI on the other hand is simply a suggestion of how big the image would be if you would have that many dpi = dots per inch. But of course a 50 inch 1080p display has less pixels per inch (ppi) than a 20 inch screen with the same 1080p resolution

    You want to be careful with oversharpening Instagram pictures. I find that Instagram re-sharpens them and they often end-up oversharpened. I also find that Affinity's down-sizing algorithm works better than Instagram's, so I prefer to upload my pics at 1080x1080 right away.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That a good point. You certainly need to test the different platforms and see if the pictures look better or worse when editing them specially for that platform :)

    I realized :) you know Affinity apps very well. So maybe you know how can I open photo linked into Publisher in A.Photo? Without Resource manager and Finder? Like in InDesign "Open oryginal" or "Open in" .
    Maybe you know how can I replece some fonts in document (like "Find fonts" in Indesihn). Maybe you know how can I "Convert Clipping Path to frame" Cmd+alt+C in Indesign.
    I would like to say good by to Adobe, I am trying Affinity apps now. But there is too much problems :( too less shortcuts).
    If yu can give me your answers, makes me incredible happy :)

    you talked about the AI website that upscale the image but how do you do it in Affinity Photo?

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you go to "document -> resize Document" but this will only make it larger, it will NOT enhance the image quality. For that you need AI and Affinity Photo does not have that

    How about a tutorial how to DOWNscale images in Affinity Photo without them getting blurry. I can't bleieve that AP doesn't get that simple task right. downscaling always results in sharper images. It's also used as a trick to use higher resolution during shots to have the option to sharpen the images later by downscaling. ...well not so much with Affinity Photo..

    • @bogusmorgus8679
      @bogusmorgus8679 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried downscaling with AP yet that sounds bad that it does a poor job
