ABOUT US: We're Andy and Trai, a gay couple living in Mexico with our rescue jackhuahua, Pattie. We're in Cartagena, Colombia for 3 months, then heading to Athens, Greece for 3 months! After that, it's back to Toronto to spend some time with family and friends :)

We took your suggestion and went to Stiges for 5 days, what an incredible experience. Very affordable! The only thing that i feel you missed in this video is how insanely experience/over priced Ptown is for the traveler. Our trip to Spain was more than 50% less than Ptown and the beaches and accommodations were 100% better. Thank you for all your great videos and information!
Thank you for sharing! And we agree 100%. We thankfully found a reasonable rate at the Gaslamp in P-Town and also took advantage of happy hour specials in Ptown! While we could not afford living in P-Town, Sitges, Spain is high (ie #1) on our expat/retirement list. Even a big sunscreen at the supermarket in Sitges is like $2-3 versus $10 at home in Mexico which is becoming increasingly expensive!
It’s affordable because of the continuing long term strength of the US dollar. When I was in Florida in 2007 the exchange rate was $2 to £1 and everything was great value now it’s $1.25 to £1 and everything is eye wateringly expensive. You can, as an American, live it large in places like Sitges (less than half the cost of PTown for just about everything) so enjoy it while it lasts.
Check out Torremolinos, Spain. It is just south of Malaga (airport) and accessible by bus or Uber. The mayor wants the town to become the gay mecca in Spain. At least 15 gay bars of all types, a gay beach club with beachfront massages, and the people are a friendly mix of locals and tourists.
We stayed at Ritual Torremolinos! They have a clothing optional section at the roof pool!
To Sitges, of course🙂have been going there every summer, since 2011

We’ve been to all three and much prefer the Spanish destinations we’ve listed! But those are great options too! We love how many amazing travel destinations there are for gay traveler in Spain! 🇪🇸 ❤️

Lovely, lovely lovely I was truly expecting Gran Canaria (Maspalomas) or Torremolinos to be on the list, but Sitges can be the one instead haha … and speaking of which I am currently struggling to pick up destinations for January in Europe because I’ve tried it for the last two years for example, Paris Lisbon Madrid Florence Milan Rome and Athens they were all boring and dead during January. Do you guys have any idea? Love you all thank you ❤❤

The reality is many destinations are expense to visit. I am never able to move back to my native PTown. Fortunately I live close to Ft Lauderdale.
Sitges sounds sexy....i can't wait to visit there and Madrid and Barcelona.

Why Tulum and not Puerto Vallarta? Curious to have your take on this.
We like the gorgeous Mexican Caribbean water, cultural attractions and hidden gems, and lower cost of living if you know where to go! Also, we could buy a modern house with a pool (or you can rent one very inexpensively) versus condo life in PV. We do like both beach towns tho! ❤️
@@TwoGayExpats Thank you so much for the feedback. We had moved to PV for 3 years and returned as there were many things we were not fond of. Especially since it was very touristy and everything is geared towards that along with being watched and targetted consistently. Would like to check out Tulum so long as tourism is not a big business driver and thievery is not as rampant. Any more thoughts on that? Great video btw.
@MARC-gg7bk totally understand. The nice thing about Tulum is there is the hotel zone and town. We live in town whereas the hotel zone on the beach is super fancy with expensive drinks! We also like to spend more time in the off season when it’s quieter. While there are lots of tourists including a new airport and train, you’ll find plenty of expats and locals in certain communities in and around the growing town. Alternatively, Akumal and other beach towns along the Riviera Maya might be your speed if you’re down to buy/rent a car. Hope that helps!

I'm missing Bogota - Colombia on the list. Considering that they could have the biggest gay scene on the americas
We absolutely love Colombia and had a blast in Cartagena (hello Rosario Islands 🤩), Medellin, and Bogota a few years back. Maybe it’s like in Mexico with crime reporting (overdone), but we have had close personal friends recently robbed on a trip. And they are savvy travelers. But yes, we’d love to come back and see the booming gay nightlife scene (and clothing optional guesthouses) we keep seeing allover the country on our social media feed! 🙌🇨🇴❤️🌈🍑
I was Robbed in Bogota and same thing happened in Rio several years ago not thinking it could happen again. What a nightmare. Medellin supposed to be better but now hearing issues there too.
