My comments has nothing to do with the vid above. He did a wonderful job explaining the steps. The part I missed for whatever is when you put the floral wire on the new switch to pull through, don't forget to tuck the end portion. My wire kept slipping through. I had to woosah and watch the vid again to see where I went wrong. Once that was done I had the wire through in 5 minutes. Venting done and thanks for the vid.

Watched this video to help with turn signal cruise control switch install. I was shocked to see that the signal wires are in constant contact with the rotating shaft, Adding cruise wires would only be worse.
I expected Ididit to do better than this.
So I drilled the bottom of the Bell and ran the wires out the bottom. At least I won't have things shorting out down the road!

No it is not, for instruction on how to do this please contact our Tech guy Derek (derek@ididit.com) to talk about how to replace a harness on a tilt/tele.

Nice steering columns, too expensive for an disabled ASE Master Tech since 1978 to make a daily driver for a guy who is 6’3” tall. I do what I can using used parts parts, rebuilding them as needed so I know they will last.
Too many years of hard work, no one tells you your elbows will cut into nerves, loss of hearing, arthritic finger that feel broke and July 2020 went in for L3-L2 fusion and the Dr. saw something he didn’t like. So, the team replaced the L3 down to including the “S1” and chiseled out the bone graph they used in 1987. I hope and pray to be able to finished a second $600 vehicle to drive. Perhaps my wife of 40 years can drive a newer car than her 1996 Geo Prizm. I am trying hard to keep it going. Wish I can fix a damage paintable column that I can fit on a 67 C10 truck. I can fix everything else if I have the materials. My truck will have a service manual so any tech can fix a system on this truck, long after I am gone. Thanks for the video & info!

Just spent 7 hours trying to do this in my 65 Mustang and I still don’t have the wires run. Laid them out flat, taped them to a pull wire and every time I start to feed them in, the pull wire just unbends and pulls out of the tape because the area that the wires have to pass through is too narrow. I’m literally about to pull this column out and buy a different brand! This is absolutely ridiculous that it should take this long to pull a wiring harness through a column. Absolute crap design when you have a part known to fail that would potentially need replacement!

I did it in 30 minutes while it was in the car.

If the tape come off the turn signal harness, it’s ok. The OEM design and level of difficulties is the same. Generally at the bottom of the plate behind the turn signal assembly, there is a 3/4” hole that the wires side into. If you have cruise control and active wiper controls, their are more wires inside this tube.
Place a stiff wire and tape over the end of the harness. Use a good flashlight from the bottom up, then guide the wire down the tube. Take it slow but the 6 or 7 wires will pull down the steering column tube, out the hole, install the rubber grommet then carefully lift the metal tab on each connector and place in the correct cavity of the connector.
I truly hope this helps but it is not easy nor that though. Just be patient and it will come out ok. Hope this helps.
