      Yes, this IS nice, (to see the end result before you build something, ) since TH-cam is bad to cover up the last part of your video with pop-ups advertising the next video, they want you to watch, and covers up the video's finalie. Whoever came up with THAT goofball idea needs to be fired!.

      It almost looks like the inverse of the tape feed of a vcr player. Not quite, but it feels like some inspiration must have been taken. Not trying to rubbish on the video, it's definitely genius, I'm just trying to guess what might have inspired it.

    That drive "mechanism" is genius for it's simplicity. I also love your method for cutting out circles with a router, again simple but very effective. The only thing that would improve on an already excellent idea is a way of getting a bit more tension on the tape, winding the bundle more tightly.

    • @SSGTVolken
      @SSGTVolken ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Make the bolt holding the tape roll longer. Add a small spring and washer between the nut and tape roll. Loosen/tighten the nut to change the tension. Like a packaging tape dispenser.

    • @carlbruschnigjr1757
      @carlbruschnigjr1757 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was thinking the same thing. There would be two possibles ways to do it, one would be to elongate the motor mounting setup, the other and probably easier way is to have and adjustable idler pulley on the belt. For the tape, use a wingnut to adjust the tape tension.

    I used to make harnesses for Locomotives and I used Tyraps to hold the harnesses together. I would have LOVED to have one of these. It would have made the cabinets look a lot better. They STILL looked nice, but with "trees" of the same color wire with branches of wire coming off, all the loops balanced, & tied together with Tyraps. It was beauty when you got done with it.

    • @108gk
      @108gk ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I worked in a factory that produced harnesses for Ford & Chrysler and the industrial version of this has a couple of things that make the finished product look even better. A wide rubber belt on the output side that pulls the harness. The operator just puts end on that belt and holds it down with a flat hand and let the adjustable belt speed do the work of coordinating wrap speed, harness diameter and overlap of the tape. The tape holder needs to be at a small angle to help make the tape lay without wrinkles. The tape used was vinyl harness wrapping tape commonly used on auto wiring. It has no adhesive and is secured by a few wraps of friction tape at the ends. That method retains flexibility that adhesive tape won't allow.

    I like it. The only negative I see is the adhesive used on the tape. The adhesive used in “normal” OTC plastic tape tends to deteriorate, run and “get sticky” in a flexing, heat-prone environment such as a wiring harness might experience. It would be good to source and recommend a more-specific-purpose wrapping for your device.

    The stretch and wrap non-adhesive vinyl stuff would be a problem on your rig though. You'd have to change the gearing and ad a holder to keep a tight tension on the harness. Very doable.

    Excellent! Simple but very effective. Can also be used with plastic wrapping (non sticky), for easy loom disassembly when needed.

    One of those moments of " It's so simple ...... why didn't i think of it " Any chance you could come up with a rough parts and measurement list. Id be happy to pay some money for it

    I suggest adding a worm spring and a friction disc fixed onto the nut at 7:22, to adjust the tension of wraping tape

    A very interesting video but it only serves to present an idea and is not one that just any person could follow and end up with the same product due to the complexities of the build that are not detailed or resources revealed.
    Eg, there are precision components which are not easily found such as those toothed bearings and motor with toothed pulley and the corresponding idler bearings and drive belt.
    Then the distance of the line that was drawn as a guide for the holes for the bolts that acted as bearing axles, needs to be careful calculated relative to the dimensions of the bearings plus the thickness of the drive belt and the circumference of the rings in order for the rings to fit in the circle they form and run smoothly without being too loose and falling out or too tight and jamming.
    This, despite the slick video us not an easy build for an average Jo.

    My first thought would be to feed the wires at an angle for a smoother wrap. Eventually, add a split guide/rest to hold the wires for a tighter wrap.

    Просто топ! Чтобы сделать такую приблуду нужна циркулярка, шпиндельная сверлилка которых у простых обывателей естественно много!

      Можно обойтись и лобзиком обычным. В видео просто много приемов по обработке материалов показано. И автор использует то, что есть у него и показывает процесс сборки наглядно и последовательно. Если надо себе такую, будешь думать из чего и как повторить. Почему некоторые думают, что надо использовать строго только то, что в видео показано? Не от большого ума видимо

    The project itself is really cool, relatively easy to do and gets the job done. Well made video to go with that. However... I can't say that I'd ever use something like this. While it's SUPER clean looking, my desk wiring needs to be redone far too frequently to want to spend all that time unwrapping wires.
