      I recently started getting a really teary right eye but only right after waking up. Over the day, my eyes start to hurt, get red. I look a lot at computer screens, but this never was a problem before.
      In my right eye I would even get a menthol like sensation, which I figured was due to the tear film evaporating too quickly, so I started doing hot compresses, massaging and cleaning the eyelids which almost completely eliminated that issue.
      Still don't understand how my eyes, even with constant artificial tear drops, can get so inflamed (if that is the correct term). My eyes don't feel tired, and there are no muscles in the eyeball, so why does that happen?

      I had an accident 2 months ago that caused a bruise on my nose. There was no fracture, but it was swollen and bruised, and about 1 month and a half ago, tears began to flow all day. I think the blockage was due to internal scarring, my ophthalmologist recommended surgery, which I am reluctant to do.

    july 2023 my right eye randomly began watering profusely everyday all day, only briefly ceasing for a couple hours when i was distracted (movie, cleaning, etc). i also noticed slight swelling in my puncta, but no irritation. after numerous failed natural remedies and massaging techniques, i took it to God in prayer🙏🏽. i never visited an ophthalmologist bc i didn’t want to become reliant upon medication to live a normal life again. i got covid december 2023 so i boiled LEMON/ORANGE PEELS AND SALT in a pot of water. not only did that alleviate the covid symptoms, but by the next day, my tear production/draining rate was regulated!!🙌🏽looking back, there may have been an infection, but the lack of irritation confuses me🤔whatever it was, i thank God that’s over and i didn’t have to invest time and money on antibiotics and possible side effects. sharing this under vidoes i visited when i needed help to help others❤️

      Wind can definitely contribute to tearing of the eyes. Wind will dry out the tear film and irritate the eyes - leading to tear production. And cold weather also stimulates tear production (the corneal nerves are more sensitive to cold).

Then after my prescription eye exam is done, I will order the Zenia clear prescription chamber eyeglasses, > $285 due to prescription & type. But my insurance can cover up to $550. It really works. I also bought Lastacaft from CVS. Finally ordered VitA-Pos eye cream manufactured in Germany, distributed in Israel.

    I am at wits-end with my watery eyes. I can't wear eye makeup because of it, people ask if I'm crying lots, I wake up tearing so i sleep with tissues nearby, etc... just miserable! I went to school for Opticianry so i knew lots of potential issues and have tried some of the otc "fixes" to no avail so i will try some of these treatments but it seems like maybe a trip to the doctor is in order. Thank you for making these videos! Finding answers for watery eyes- alone (that don't present with redness, itchiness, allergy symptoms, swelling, etc) has been trying, to say the least. My eyes have been watering since I got oil in them from a bursted transmission hose at a Caterpillar factory. This happened in the year of 2006. I have been to multiple eye doctors and the diagnosis has always been "dry eyes", however none of the refresh eyedrops medicines has ever worked. None of the doctors have ever even considered that tear duct irrigation or any other thing you have discussed here in your video. I would really love to have this nuisance fixed! I have been walking around with some type of handkerchief, napkin, paper towel in my pocket for eye drying for 18 years!

    Exactly ! This happened to me with my left eye, my optometrist said it was possibly a corneal scar and to wipe it away, then it kept happening and 8 months later it was beginning to wear me down, so I returned and asked for an opthalmologist referral. The optometrist referral discussed the corneal scar and said I needed advice on how to manage dry eyes. I even asked if I could get dry eye in just one eye and was told yes. I saw 3 different doctors and they were focussed on the corneal scar and I was told to take dry eye drops, nasal spray, shown how to clean my eyes properly and advised to limit computer time if I could. My opthalmologist test results even said I had a narrow left tear duct, but this was mostly ignored by subsequent drs.. Finally a fourth dr did the injection to test for blockage and its been so much better since, still a little watery but nowhere near what it was. I’m scheduled for a consultation for surgery in a few months. This is where they redirect the flow of tears in a different way through the nose. But if it stays like this after the injection test for blockage, I may not go ahead with surgery.

    Here’s my issue. I guess I’ll have to see a specialist but my left eye is watery till afternoon early evening then it turns to stringy gel and sleepys accumulates both corners of my eye. When I wake, crusted eye. Only my left. It started a couple months after the gel on the back of my eye separated from the retina. No tear but retina specialist has monitored. This video is closest to my symptoms but no one talks about the gunk. And yes, I do the whole protocol, wash, compress, wipes, drops, even the toothbrush thing. Cool mist at night. It helps, not near as bad, some days are better than others. Factors, quality, quantity of sleep, time reading, knitting, computer, tv etc. I’m 62. I do not have allergies

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm, being that it is only the left eye that has the problem, it does sound like something could be going on. Perhaps something inflammatory. I've been told that I have dry eye, not viscous enough? They use to drain a little, now it's ridiculous. The only solution? Tear gel. Now I'm sure that inside my nasal passage I have what could be a calcium build up. So I don't think flushing will work. It's definitely blocked on one side. Had my nose broken when I was two, and for a few years as an adult had severe sinus infections. Solution that didn't work was nasonex, in fact made it worse. Went to natural remedies... Oil of oregano, garlic in the saline solution. That took two years of flushing before I felt normal again.

    Hi there, thank you for your informative videos and sorry for the long message. When I wake up my eyes are red and they start watering within 30 minutes. If I got outside, it doesn't matter what time of the year, they will immediately tear up and the tears come out of the sides of the eyes like you show in this video. When I was a kid it would only happen if I was outside on a cool/cold windy day. Something about the cool/cold air hitting my eye balls would cause them to tear up, but once I reached my 30s, I began to have watery eyes every morning after waking up and starting my morning routine. It doesn't matter if I travel to another climate or what, if I'm indoors or outdoors, etc. my eyes tear up first thing in the morning so I don't think this is an allergy issue. After crying for about 10-15 minutes it eventually stops, but it's so annoying to have to wipe the tears off my face while I'm eating a bowl of cereal or explain to someone witnessing it that I'm not crying about anything, that it's some weird reaction my eyes do every morning. Anyway, I've been researching this and recently got around to seeing an eye doctor at an eye clinic where I live and he couldn't find anything "wrong" with my eyes. After all kinds of tests (and probably a big bill), he said they were very healthy. What a relief! The doctor believed me that my eyes tear up every morning, but since he wasn't there to witness it he can't really diagnosis it. I know it's not supposed to be like this so I'm researching anything and everything that I can about it and I'm wondering now if it's related to my Rosacea. I was diagnosed by a dermatologist in my 30s and I've come across some websites that explain my symptoms as Ocular Rosacea. Who would be able to confirm this? Do I need to find another eye doctor that's willing to go deeper or do I need to see a dermatologist to confirm it? Thank you.

    My wife has had eye issues since she was born. Cataracts and glaucoma. When she was in her mid 20s, the glaucoma was at the level of an 80 year old.
    She is currently recovering from a Lamellar sclerokeratoplasty in her left eye.
    It's been close to a month since the surgery, which was deemed a success. Her eye pressure is normal and she has very little pain. Her color vision has returned.
    Being someone who doesn't know much about the eye, the paper I was given to read ( Taiwan journal of Ophthalmology. Volume 9. Issue 3. July - Sept 2019) was very confusing. And I was very distracted by the images.
    Can you do a video on this surgery and help me figure it out? Thanks. I love your videos. I've only recently found your channel.

      Wow thank you so much for sharing, Phil. That is a pretty specific and every time I show surgical procedures in videos TH-cam gets angry at me that I am showing "gore" or "disturbing images". But in short, Lamellar sclerokeratoplasty, is a procedure where the front part of the eye (cornea and part of the white part of the eye) is replaced with a clear donor cornea including the limbus (edge where the cornea and sclera come in contact with each-other) and part of the trabecular meshwork (the inner drainage canal of the eye). This is for people with endstage glaucoma.
      Hope things are going well for her and your family.

    My left eye feels itchy and burns in the corner next to my nose. My eye doctor did some test and determined it to be dry eyes so he told me to put Fresh Eyes drops. I went last year during the Summer. It helped but I’m noticing when I wake up in the morning my eye burns in the corner and clustered something that I had not experienced before. I’m taking 200 mg of a RA pill at night and my RA doctor had me to get a clearance with eye doctor first. I was told that it was ok to take it but it seems like ever since I started this medication is when my eye problem started with the burning of the eyes and redness and sometimes puffiness. Inflammation is in my body period which is a common factor. I’m 67. Sometimes I get blurred eyes too.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! I believe this occurs due to muscle contractions of the eyelids and facial muscles. Stimulation of the facial nerve can stimulate the lacrimal gland and when yawning the eyelids close tightly, which may force tears to the drainage canal but instead my overflow.
      Not sure if there is any way to stop it from happening, but worth asking your local eye doctor if there is anything wrong with your tear drainage.

    My allergies and narrower sinuses on one side from a deviated septum combine forces to cause this pretty much every year. SO annoying! Looking down puts a huge tear drop on my glasses, and dabbing salty tears off my face all day wreaks havoc on my skin.
    Diligent use of Pataday and Flonase last year kept it under control for the most part though.

    • @cathylynn57
      @cathylynn57 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, dabbing tears off the face does irritate the skin. I found a solution that works for me. I carry the soft eyeglass cleaning cloths to dab the tears when they appear. The cloths are very soft and easy on the skin.

Where when you gently lift up the upper lid and look on the top of the eyeball. What condition is that a symptom of? It’s not OR or blepharitis. Will you refresh my mind please? 😊

      I need help!! Have had red, watery eyes for going on a year. My Dr put me on Loteprednol, a soft steroid. Was working well for like 5 months then stopped. It raised my eye pressure so they had to go. Now I'm back to square one. They've gotten worse since I had a virus a month ago even on the drops. I look like I'm crying all the time , and they're really red. Dr gave me an eye drop for inflammation that you use after cataract surgery. Bad reaction. Now all they want to offer is allergy drops. HELP. This is driving me nuts.

    I’ve had teary eyes since birth. I’m 33 now. My eyes are crying most of the time. Sometimes a little, sometimes alot. They cry for no reason, or they are triggered by wind, dry air, me yawning, me laughing a little ( but it looks like im crying out laughing) or even when I drink a coca cola (it tickles my eyes). I’ve had the blockage test done twice in my life and nothing is blocked in the ducts, they are fine. Ive also had botox inserted in both lacrimal glands and it didnt help. Eye drops never worked. Eye sprays help in the moment but not in long term.
    The only thing that seemed to help was cortisone eye drops. But because of the nature of cortisone I cant use it long term.
    Ive never had a diagnosis, ophtalmologists have no idea what I have and how to treat. Do you have any ideas?

I had the surgery because it messed with my self esteem, although my eyes weren’t as bad as a lot of people who have the disease, not only does it change the way you look, but it makes your eyes feel gritty and watery.. even though the surgery fixed how my eyes look, once in a while my eyes feel like there is something in them, and contact lenses have helped so much! But my left eye waters to the point that I can’t wear makeup and my eyelid gets red and itchy, I’m so tired of it. My eye doctor suggested alaway preservative free eye gtts, and they helped so much!! But of course I can’t find them anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️ ugh

    I have gone to 4 different eye doctors and none of them have diagnosed my eye issue correctly yet. First I do use a sleep app machine, I'm 51 and over weight. I wake up in the morning and everything is like cloudy for at least the first hour. Then my eyes will water uncontrollably for about another hour. Then throughout the day I'm battling with some type of white gooey substance that makes my left eye blurry. I will rinse my eye and this gooey substance will come out, but it comes back within 2 hours. I have been told that I have eye allergies so I use pataday eye drops, and I also have been told by one eye doctor I have the beginning of dry eye and I have been using this stuff called genteal tears to help. But that's it. And nothing is helping. I have no signs of glocoma or any of those more serious eye problems. I have had glasses since I was 5. Please help. Could you give me some advice? I love your videos cause you explain everything so well. Thank you for all the hard work you do for us. Prayers and blessings

    Hi! I have suffered extreme watery eyes for several years. My eyes just flow uncontrollably when I’m outside or sometimes indoors too. I don’t have any redness or itch with my eyes at all.
    Recently I started seeing a “ dry eye specialist “ in NYC. She diagnosed me with MGD & dry eye and I’ve been on this regimen since November with no improvement. Restasis 4 x day, Tobramycin, Loteprednol 3 x day, Doxycycline , heated eye mask 2 x day for 20 minutes. I was tested for allergies with no significant results. Honestly, it’s exhausting! Does this treatment seem reasonable? Should I expect some improvement by now? Could this be something other than dry eyes? Help!!!!

    Hello Dr.
    I enjoyed this video. I do have a problem with my left eye tearing and over flowing with tears. Originally I had a large stye. I was out of town and could not get medical care until I got back home. I think I developed an infection along with this stye. I eventually had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. I was under anesthesia and had a catheter placed in the two inner canthus tear ducts. The catheter stayed in place for a number of days. I returned and the dr removed the catheter. I thought my problem would be resolved, but it was resolved. I recently had cataract surgery of both eyes. The blocked tear duct symptoms of the left eye are really exaggerated now. I try warm packs and massaging the duct. this helps on a very temporary basis. What should I do? What kind of specialist should I see? Thank you so much. Should I expect that a dilation and flush might work. I want to avoid another surgery if possible.
    Thank you so much!

    • @DoctorEyeHealth

      Yes, when the eyes burn like they have sand in the eyes, the eye will produce more tears to compensate. Also when it is bright out, the eyelids squeeze together while squinting and then the tear film will more likely spill over.

    My eye doctor stated I was having a muscle spasm behind my eye and that my glasses would help, but they have not. That's an interesting question. I know my eyes get red sometimes when taking a shower. I think it may have to do with humidity? or possibly aerosolized fumes of soap or other detergents. I imagine with heat, some particles of soap will become like fumes and irritate the surface of the eye (the oil layer of the tear film will likely break up easily due to the presence of nonpolar lipids) - which increases tear film evaporation leading to dryness and rebound redness and inflammation.
      Perhaps swimming goggles? Or bath goggles lol?

The water comes out from the corner of the eye on to the cheeks. The rest of the tear duct passage is otherwise clear. I have been dealing with chronic watering in my Left eye as well as chronic sinus infections after a bout with covid 1.5 years ago. I have been to multiple ophthalmologists & ENT's. I had that eye irrigated 3 times, no blockage. Had a CT scan of my sinus. There is 100% an INVERSE relationship between sinus congestion and eye watering. If my sinuses are congested, I will have NO eye watering. If my sinuses are clear the watering will come back. I have asked both ENT's and ophthalmologists about this and they say that makes no sense. During sinus infections I am often taking herbal antibiotics or antifungals like garlic, oregano oil, and sometimes prescription antibiotics. So could it be the antibiotics/antifungals clearing my eye, and if so could I have a fungal infection (underlying candida/ mold) or other type of infection in my eye?? Trying to get to the root cause because no doctor can help me!! Thanks

      my opthalmologist suggested I use a nasal spray when I mentioned my nose was often blocked at night (I also have a deviated septum), so there is a connection. She also suggested preservative free dry eye drops, and showed me how to clean my eyes properly, you can buy the special wipes, but a cheaper option is a tiny drop of baby shampoo on a wet cotton make up pad, being very gentle wiping both upper and lower lashes. I do have blockage though.
