Welcome to Band-Maid! You stumbled upon the best rockband on the planet right now... They have an incredible chemistry, they are best friends with each other, they LOVE their fans, they are writing their songs on their own since round about 2016, everyone is on an insane level, no star, no weak link and just so MUCH FUN! I am almost 40 years old now and i did stop listening to metal and rockmusic for a decade, just listening to DnB, because rock and metal was just boring IMO and 3 years ago i discovered Band-Maid (Thanks TH-cam) and i can enjoy the type of music again that i loved for so many years. I am thankful for this band and you can really listen to EVERY song, there is nothing bad or just "OK"... 120 songs in round about 8 years on this level is just mindblowing! Greetings from Germany and i think the other maidiacs will give you enough information about this AWESOME band, so i just wanted to tell you how this band changed my life :)
Nice! You should check out Babymetal, if you don't know them yet. Another great band that shook things up. In fact, both Babymetal and BandMaid are my favourite Metal and Hard Rock bands. Road of Resistance (live in Japan) is Babymetal at their best, should you want to try.
What a fun, honest reaction. It's nice to see someone who considers themselves a rock fan. It's cool that you picked up on the nostalgic feeling. I think Band-Maid's music feels nostalgic and fresh at the same time.
Japan has a long tradition with all female rock bands. One is over 35 years old, it is Show-ya. In the late 2000 and the early 2010 many female rock bands growing up. Band-Maid, Scandal, Gacharic Spin, Silent Siren, Aldious and many more.
BAND-MAID, so good that the Queen of England wanted to abdicate & give them her throne. They replied that they already have an Ice Queen & Maids so no thx :)
@@ShikataGaNai100 Not Gary, it's his horrible writers ! See Gary I tried to do you a solid and help you out. Happy 😊 belated New Year to you and yours !
What a great reaction! Your joy upon first hearing them is something many of us 70s and 80s rock fans can relate to. Discovering this band is like finding a lost treasure. I recommend checking out Play Live (from this same concert) and Real Existence Live. Both high energy. Because you like older rock..I think you would enjoy the official MVs for Dice (MV has better sound than live), Manners, Bubble, Secret My Lips, Warning, After Life, Blooming and Don't You Tell Me.
Welcome to Band-Maid!!! For a really cool surprise, I think you should check out Band-Maiko "Secret Miko Lips" th-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/w-d-xo.html This was an April Fools Day present from Band-Maid to their fans.
LOL, I was debating on when I should tell you about Band Maid after seeing you enjoy Babymetal - Band Maid is another one of my favorite Japanese band, and for me, what's more fun is getting to know the girls - Babymetal and Band Maid, here's a fun interview they did at a Japanese show where they briefly talked about how they started ... and a little habit MISA does during live performances :) th-cam.com/video/SltjaoNBlbY/w-d-xo.html
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do a first time Band-Maid react to both "Domination" *and* "Freedom!" Fun overload! If I weren't a bonnet, I think my head would explode. Hopefully if that ever happens I'll be wearing myself, and all this lace will catch the shrapnel. **BOOM**
For sure. Domination is usually the entrance drug. Adding Freedom to a Band Maid first lesson just plunged this nice young lady into to full blown addiction.
Akane beats those drums line they owe her money! Mincho has driven tears from my face in her solo in "Daydreaming". MISA's in the background slapping & picking where you dont hear it, then you do, and it tears your face off & your happy it has. Miku's filling the vocals & guitar effortlessly, and so GOD DAMNED ADORABLE! Sai's singing is so good, then the music changes again & youre trying to understand all over again what's going on and how good it is! I love this band!
These girls are highly skilled and original. They play an eclectic mix of genres, but always with that nostalgic Hard Rock base! How can you not like a band that consistently gives you what you want!
I'm glad to see your reaction and that you enjoy them. I think more females would love them as well, and that they could be positive, artistic role models. I'm sure the band would love to see more girls at their shows. Spread the word. Tell your friends. Band Maid = World Domination!
This is a truly brilliant band. Formed by an ex maid cafe waitress, it features a genius lead guitar/composer, fantastic bass player, the happiest and brilliant drummer and and two exceptional vocalists. They enjoy performing together and are close friends off stage. All round talent off the scale and a work ethic only the Japanese can offer.
Try "Play", "Blooming", "Manners"/"Black Hole" (double video) -- note "Manners" is funky rock, while "Black Hole" is more like thrash -- their fastest song. Also "Sense" -- written for anime. And of course, their entire catalog. They don't publish bad songs. I suspect you will like Band-Maid a lot as they appeal to many people who like classic rock.
Welcome, your first time reaction was fun to watch. Band-Maid is diverse and will amaze you with rock, ballads , instrumentals and acoustic versions. The fans will fill your comment section and give you lots of info. Band-Maid fans are the best :) There are many official Live videos and Official MV so enjoy your journey . Po
Glad to have you join the Band-Maid party. It will be non-stop, very engaging and entertaining, great music and FUN for all. You will find out shortly that BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.
Can't wait for the next one. ONSET-LIVE (instrumental with solos all around), PLAY-LIVE (with an intro to die for), REAL EXISTENCE-LIVE (Fun, Fun, Fun).
Yes! Band-Maid is even better than you think they are. I've subscribed - looking forward to more. L'hiver va passer vite avec cette musique incroyable !
Imho, the greatest hard rock band around and probably for the last 30-40 years or so. Excellent musicians, song writers and performers! Nice reaction! MISA MISA MISA....
Thank you! Never too late is correct! The good thing is that they have another 100+ great songs for you to discover, and I’m almost sure they will release another great album with 12 - 15 songs before the end of this year.
Great reaction, you are HOOKED! The great thing about this is you have SO much music to get through from them, and you will have trouble finding new ways to describe their 🎶
Great reaction! It made me relive the joyous moment when I first discovered them. The best thing about Band-Maid is that from song to song across their vast catalog they will never bore you. They incorporate a lot of different styles of music from song to song but they always somehow maintain the unique Band-Maid sound. I suggest you react to another LIVE performance called Manners, Black Hole. It's two songs in one video and taken from one of their Online concerts in 2021 (so no crowds) and will give you the two extreme ends of what this band can do, from a great bluesy mid-tempo hard rock song in Manners to a blistering Rock/Prog/Metal/Punk song in Black Hole.
Every time Mincho trolls Miku in this video...I laugh my ass off. Two tiny rock goddesses (5'1" AND 5') at mock war...and I love every second of it. Tiny dynamite.
And off stage, Mincho is childlike sweetness, and Miku is eccentric genius pigeon. But put guitars on them, and they transform. Although Miku still falls over on stage and off stage.
😂😂 agree totally on both of you. The whole band is complete fun on and off stage ( now that the ice queen also melted a little, see acoustic concert ).
Kanami has also admitted to being clumsy too the whole band has described her and Miku that way and it's so nice seeing all of them coming out of their shyness and to see Akane singing some back up along with misa made me stand up every time and yell Yes . best band . Long Live the PO!
What sets them apart for me is the consistent positive message and Outlook. They love playing, they love each other and they respect and appreciate their fans. Welcome, to the happiest band on earth.
Your point about the crowd/audience is well made…these women absolutely LOVE the interaction with a live audience, whether in a small club gig or a much bigger venue. Watch them when the crowd is going wild, singing along, bouncing around; they just go up another level or two… then the crowd responds and also levels up in response; result = totally insane performance! BAND-MAID can do it all, but they reach stratospheric heights with a good, responsive, positive, fanatic crowd. Their official live videos show this very well, but the crowd at smaller gigs also goes nuts - and the ladies respond accordingly…if you want to see this in a smaller show, check out the series of videos from their gig in Mexico! - a big crowd going wild with the band - especially Saiki - absolutely owning that stage and audience… which I gather was mainly Mexican males… About a minute from the end (last video) the crowd is really amped up and Saiki wants them to quieten down a little - so, she ‘shushes’ them (nicely…) and hundreds of macho males immediately shut up! This riveting frontlady absolutely knows how to exert her power and no one complains: When Saiki tells you to shush, you shush! ‘Fantastic’ barely begins to describe this musical tour de force!!
Hello I'm Japanese. It was a very nice reaction video. I also love BAND-MAID, but my favorite band is NEMOPHILA. I recommend the song REVIVE from NEMOPHILA.
Great reaction to THE best Rock band on Earth. Subscribed because, based on your joyous reaction to their music and your appreciation of their musical skills, I'm guessing you're going to be reacting to all the other amazing songs they have too. Two members of Band-Maid (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Recommendations would be for a couple of other songs from this same concert - PLAY: th-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/w-d-xo.html , CHOOSE ME: th-cam.com/video/HcqitbXgigU/w-d-xo.html and WONDERLAND: th-cam.com/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/w-d-xo.html .
Prediction #1 - Pick any song by these ladies for your next reaction. I bet you love it! Prediction #2 - You are a MAIDIAC already. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the "Asylum"! Prediction #3 - They'll be a Band-Maid poster behind you very, very soon! Thanks Verdy! You are gonna have a blast! 🕊
I think you would love their instrumentals. For example "Onset" (live). Also, for more all-girl bands: Lovebites and Nemophila. They both trend more towards metal tho, don't know if that is something you would want to check out. Both from Japan too, of course. If you do want to give them a try, for Lovebites either Holy Way or Swan Song, both live, are good first songs to check out. For Nemophila Dissension (music video), Oiran (live) or 鬼灯 (MV, but it is kinda live).
Glad you enjoyed them! There's so much to enjoy here, and I'd highly recommend checking out more. They do so much awesome stuff all across the board. I'd normally suggest a specific song, but it's genuinely hard to go wrong!
Loved this. No, you're not alone in feeling a similarity here to 1970s and 1980s rock. Those of us who lived that time feel it too, which is why their fans include a lot of older folks, especially those of us who like the harder hitting music and the flat-out fun factor they bring. Actually, in Japan, all-female rock and metal bands are a "thing" ever since "Show-Ya" some 40 years ago hit the stage and blew that door wide open. Since then the possibility of being a great band creating music people love has inspired so many young girls that today, from what I can see, Japan has at least as many all-female bands as any other possible lineup. And Show-Ya puts on an all-woman rock festival pretty much every summer. At the end, they have members of every band if available onstage playing and singing a huge jam together. Keiko Terada and Show-Ya changed everything about rock there and about Japanese society's perception of what women were capable of. So Japan has grown thousands of bands of women that are quite good, and dozens if not hundreds that are great. Some other all-woman bands are: Aldious, a melodic metal band which has had three main vocalists, but I like that their most recent tour is with Maki Oyama, whose power is phenomenal. Bridear, whose music has been largely metal. Exist-Trace, a very versatile "visual kei" band. Visual Kei is theatrical, and usually gender-bending (most members of E-T wear somewhat "masculine" outfits onstage). Nemophila comes closest to my affection for Band-Maid. The name is the genus of 5-petaled flower (5 band members) that is native to North America (like rock) but very popular in Japan (like rock). They are also very versatile and do some cool covers, but their own compositions are mainly metal. Lovebites is power metal, English lyrics, white dresses, and focus on being warriors for the light. They recently lost their bassist Miho, so there is concern for their future, but they already have quite a few videos on YT to see. When Gacharic Spin performs with vocalist Fuki, they are "Doll$$Box." Drummer-guitarist Hana has been main vocalists for awhile, but recently they have a new dedicated lead vocalist and have been doing some jazz-fusion kinda stuff I'm liking a lot. Hanabie does different stuff, but a lotta metal screamo. They're good at it. Scandal is more on the mellow classic-rock style. Like, what if you took a sweet feelgood high-school rock vibe and kept developing it? That actually is Scandal. The lead guitarist of Rick Rack lost her band at graduation. She put together another as "Fern Planet." Cool rock with a jazz feel is their thing. "Rie a.k.a. Suzaku" is a virtuoso guitarist with a constantly changing band lineup and mostly jazz-rock fusion focus. In USA, Plush is solid rock. In Mexico, the sister act known as The Warning has gained international following. They are solid metal. And a trio that has the power of a 5 or 6 piece band. They have been playing in public since the bassist was 9. Today they are superbly skilled and writing some excellent songs. They recently collaborated with an outside singer and produced a cover of Enter Sandman chosen by Metallica themselves for the Blacklist album. That's a start. Have fun!
They have been top of my playlist for a couple years now. I'm crazy about them. now you need check out all the other great all girl ROCK bands from Japan;
Well, did I promised too much? :) I'm glad you liked it. And believe me, the catalog of these girls has so much more to offer. As next recommendations 'Play' and 'Onset' will probably be mentioned most often, but you can also just pick something, and you surely won't be disappointed. The bold claims that they don't have a bad song are all true! :) Greetings. 🙏🏻 _____________________ 【 _Our rock never dies ever. Forever!_ 】- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊️
Got into band maid about 5 months ago, not a day goes by that I don't try finding something new about them , interviews , fan cams , really early performances where they are playing in the middle of a fete on the grass just to get their music heard. Old school, play everywhere you can just so you can play. I would say watch gold rush interviews parts 1 and 2 just to get to know the lady's and their quirks, so funny. Then try a double track reaction, band maid, secret my lips followed by their alto ego band maiko, secret maiko lips. Just a suggestion, enjoy your trip down the pigeon hole, any song you chose you will enjoy, great reaction, interested to see what you pick next.
Welcome to the Pigeon hole!! I think you might have just found your new favorite band! They have dozens of great songs! Enjoy the journey! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼 Next Try “Play” - official live video - you’re going to love it! Others - “Choose Me” - official MV is probably best and a fun view - they played this in their cameo in Netflix movie “Kate” - “Onset” - official live video - instrumental to give vocalist Saiki (pronounced like ‘psyche’) a break. - “Manners” - Official MV - best new rock song of 2021 imho - “Blooming” - official MV - buckle your seatbelt!! 🔥 - “About Us” - slow song written to fans during the pandemic …And then dozens more… Rock On 🤘🏼
BAND-MAID is such a complete group. All are personalities and in this group there are no egos. Then add that they are all extremely good on their instruments. All of the girls are one of a kind and that makes them very special. There are no limits to their talent and creativity. I truly love them!
welcome to the world of"BAND-MAID". I enjoyed your reaction. BAND-MAID ballad is really good,so please listen to it. I recommend"Daydreaming"and"about us". 🤟😎🤟🇯🇵
In the 80s style the bass was almost a forgotten instrument in rock, buried deep in the mix and playing just simple lines to back up guitars and drums, with very few exceptions, and the time signature was almost always a straight simple 4/4. Of course there were great bands from the 70s still playing, but a lot of them just settled with the 80s style. Band-maid to me, since they started to completely write their songs, reminds to me much more of the 70s, with progressive and punk in particular, and the 90s, when strong, groovy bass lines and time signature changes were again a big thing.
Dear Verdy! Greetings from an old French geezer in Shizuoka Cit under the benign care of Mount Fuji! You sound French but your English is splendid, so I will keep this comment in English! You will find out that you have just opened a trap into an an abyss of bliss. You will never come out! LOL I am lucky enough to have lived very long in Japan and speaks the language fluently, but the language barrier means nothing at such a level of musicianship! Their enormous and passionate following will tell you that Domination and Freedom are great songs indeed, but only the starters of an unending banquet! Allow me to make my own suggestion: Onset (Live instrumental), Blooming (video), Don't you Tell me (live), Turn me on. That should be enough of a first day of reactions! LOL Take good care of yourself (ves)! Robert-Gilles
You might want to mark the date of your reaction on the calendar. You may want to celebrate your maidaversary in a year when you're still grinning from ear to ear listening them rock out. Since you like classic 70's rock, I'd suggest you listen to Real Existence Live th-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/w-d-xo.html and Manners MV th-cam.com/video/-FWuMx_pkH4/w-d-xo.html but overall they defy categorization and can go through several genres in one song. They also do beautiful rock ballads, stuff resembling speed metal, and there is so much cool stuff layered into every song that you'll never get tired of them. Your face will hurt from grinning, like I said - but small price to pay!
If you want to view their musical talent, review Onset, the official music video. It's an instrumental. You should also review Band Maid's softer side with Daydreaming and About Us (the official videos). They also do Smile, an acoustic song that highlights Saiki, the lead singer's beautiful voice.
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 Badass Bass Assassin. Young lady you are speaking my language. I grew up in the 70s and 80s loving the Rock music of that Era and the main reason I have been a Band-Maid fan (aka Maidiac) ever since. Band-Maid is the best Hard Rock band in the world right now. B-M MV's are very good but their Live videos are 10 times better because you can see how talented these 5 musicians really are and how much fun they have on stage with each other. I have seen them Live twice here in LA and I hope to see them again later this year. I usually give my list of official songs but in this case I'm highly recommending you to react to the MV Manners and the online Live concert version of Manners/Black Hole. Welcome to the Band-Maid train. 2 songs down and 110+ songs to go. It's a journey worth taking.
You've been a Maidiac your whole life without even knowing it. Welcome to the club! So you like guitar, huh? May I suggest the song 'Blooming'? It's basically Kanami (lead guitarist/composer) going nuts the entire song. Perhaps the song 'Daydreaming' for a nice dose of Saiki (lead vocals). It's more of a ballad than a banger. Who am I kidding, all their songs are bangers.
Yes, they are special - came across them 4 or five years ago (maybe longer) and always been impressed by their work. Akane and Yunna (check out her Dragonforce covers) are my favourite drummers, period, they take such joy in performing. Their channel - th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID - please subscribe, folks, they have a woefully low subscriber base.
When Megadeth's guitarist Marty Friedman moved to Japan in 2003, in the New York Times article interview, he noted that something he loved about the music there is that bands are genre agnostic and can do what they want (unlike say the '80s L.A purity conflict between punk and its later hardcore incarnation because of "punk correctness"). Japanese bands like Band-Maid can jump all over the genre map without being called sell-outs, so their first album was No Doubt-style power pop before evolving into hard-rock fusions and just recently doing an acoustic concert for Christmas 2021. Heck, someone translated what the members have on their personal playlist, one of the maids had Justin Bieber and Wham. Also don't be disappointed about never hearing of Band-Maid before, they're just showing up more prominently in algorithms because of increased reaction videos to them and the band having a couple of anime songs (the pandemic actually worked in their favor for exposure). Also check out the band's side projects like BAND-MAIKO and CLUPPO.
Welcome aboard, Ariverdy. You are embarking on (along with many others - 130 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular. Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: th-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/w-d-xo.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, H-G-K, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (bandmaidprime.tokyo) and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s four of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. These two taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: th-cam.com/video/__1th7ctgMo/w-d-xo.html, and a fun, wonderful live performance in Amsterdam of Miku introducing "Don't You Tell Me" (with MISA & Kanami's great instrumental exchange) and "Turn Me On” (with MISA's solo intro): th-cam.com/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/w-d-xo.html. The next one was taken by JT Dayo in LA: th-cam.com/video/4uIYBkAybCI/w-d-xo.html, and finally by JOSER8845 in LA: th-cam.com/video/usWZvlGGDSs/w-d-xo.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid members are: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 27 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] ■ BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. ** NEW ** Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have finally included the ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts at their Prime website! @@laughingbuddha2948 They inspire a lot of people, like Ryan Mears with his new guitar... and me, spitting out words and feelings like a crazed writer in love. 🤩
These are a great couple of songs for an introduction to Band Maid. I found out about this band about a year ago, and they completely reignited my love for rock music. I find it hard to recommend a specific song, simply because all of their songs are fantastic.
One of the most notable characteristics of the Japanese music scene is that it is full of female pop-rock, hard-rock and metal bands. A few examples, for classic 80's hard-rock, Show-Ya: th-cam.com/video/1xsOCtK7Jt0/w-d-xo.html For power metal, Mary's Blood: th-cam.com/video/KODPK5CSgU0/w-d-xo.html & Lovebites: th-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/w-d-xo.html For heavy electro-rock, Doll$Boxx: th-cam.com/video/EOLZ2gLGwL4/w-d-xo.html And for nu metal Nemophila: th-cam.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/w-d-xo.html
I agree, but I have some additions: Nemophila play a great variety of styles and genres, almost every song has it's own special twist. But they always play heavy rock (well, there are a few exceptions). In a little more than two years they have developed a setlist of about 20 or so own songs, in addition they play covers of japanese and international songs (mostly heavy metal like Iron Maiden, ACDC, Helloween etc.). Their joy and passion is intoxicating. Their two guitarists, Saki and Hazuki, are top-notch musicians, as are all band members. You'll like them! Lovebites guitarists, Midori and Miyako, are seen by many listeners as the top guitar duet in todays rock music worldwide. Lovebite picks up all the early 80's heavy metal styles and give them a new meaning for us contemporary listeners. You'll adore them. Anoter band which is really vintage Hardrock/Heavy Metal is "Whiskey Dust". Check them out, they are kakkoi (=cool), too! And they have another great guitar player (For example, 偽人 - マネキン - , th-cam.com/video/hABEmCWRdJA/w-d-xo.html).
About Nemophila you are 100% right, my description is more a clickbait than a fair portrait, my fault.😓 About Lovebites, Miyako & Midori, I respect them a lot... but truth be told, they arent among my favorites, but I included them in my coment because their current importance deserve a mention.👍
@@COTTERO You're welcome! Concerning your first reply on Miyako + Midori: Tastes differ, and that's a good thing ... otherwise, life would be much more boring, I guess. I wouldn't say that your descriptions of Nemophila and the other bands are 'clickbait', sometimes you simply better pay heed to the famous advice known as KISS: Keep It Short and Simple! So it was no fault at all. Have a nice week! 🤗
BTW: As it happened, I was reading a newspaper article this evening on young women taking over the lead in today's rock music - and guess, which country and scene wasn't mentioned in it, not even by a single word, let alone bands and artists names? That ignorance towards the japanese contemporary music scene is not only a fault, it's a shame ... lol!
If anything, these two are pop songs. please check out their MANNERS/BLACK HOLE(Live) and WIRRNING MVver. It made me happy to see you really enjoying themselves. I'm looking forward to the next reaction video!
Thanks for the nice reaction! Band-Maid is unique in that they blend together a core hard rock sound with lots of other influences from punk, metal, ballad, jazz, funk, indie, etc. You talked about "catchy": Band-Maid's songwriting is some of the best that has ever been. You just will not find more songs with more hooks in them, and they do this consistently. I'd recommend Warning, After Life, YOLO or Daydreaming (ballad) as starters.
Enjoyed your reaction! Band Maid has a deep catalog of really really good, diverse music. For 80s hard rock vibe, try "Real Existence." Enjoy the trip.
Most people start with Domination and then we recommend you go to Freedom but you went for both at once, good for you ! Thanks for reacting to my favourite band Band Maid ! There are no bad songs and you will get lots of recommendations so I will suggest my favourite track, 'Blooming' the official music video. Enjoy !!
Excellent reaction video. Some reactors get deep into the "mechanics" of BAND-MAID's performance. That's cool. I also dig professional instrumentalists going, "Wait a second! How did she do that?" But seing you react like so many of us did when we discovered these "Five, cute, musical badasses." Like falling in love all over again.
That was a fun reaction! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed BAND-MAID, they are my favorite band a the moment. Your accent sounds like you are from France. Am I wrong? Thanks for this video
Japan have for years a lot of all-female bands. In pop, rock and even heavy metal. Some of them are old, even from the 80. As an example, you have in punk-rock a band like Shonen Knife, founded un 1981 and still active (the singer is 61 years now but still rocks on stage) Other examples can be bands like Destrose, Fate-Gear, Scandal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Mary´s Blood, Aldious, Stereopony and the list goes on. Japan have a really good rock and metal groups, but their record labels are not interested in sell overseas except rare exceptions. Some of those bands where for years. As an example a rock band called Scandal have more then 15 years on stages. And well, is you like guitars, then of course the recomendation in all-female bands goes to Lovebites. Their two guitars are out of this world. And of course Japan have also a lot of rock and metal band with all-male and mixed formations
If you like a little harder in direction Metal, you should choose Nemophila ( Dissension and Raitei ) and Lovebites, also two allgirl japanese Rock/Metal bands, although Band-Maid is my favourite. Talking about Band-Maid, always try live videos. The most songs of them are better in live version than MV.
Welcome to the best rock band on the planet atm :) They are ALL amazing musicians! P.s Id recommend leaving off subs if you can- they are far too distracting from the music if you read them. read them yourself on a later listen- miku writes great lyrics! But you really should be listening not reading for first reactions.
they have a wild side of their own in some of their songs, I'm sure friends Maidiacs (as fans of band maids) are amazing will give you the right recommendations and guarantee your satisfaction, thank you for reacting to them, and hope you will come again and again
It's like the 80's rock with a fresh twist. They put their own signature sound on it. They start out with a heavy, up tempo beat, move into catchy kind of pop rock chorus, get the crowd participation going like the great Punk rockers of old, then move seamlessly into a blistering solo or breakdown all in the same song... why, because they can. It's so refreshing to see extremely talented musicians who love what they are doing. So at ease, you can sense that this is what they were born to do. I always have a smile on my face after watching Band Maid videos. "falconsooner" has the correct request list to get you started on your Band Maid journey... I would just like to add an instrumental song they only play live... it's called "Onset".
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-maid! You just found one of the best rock bands in the world today! They are many all female bands in Japan. I can give you an article about the background of Japanese female bands. The article included Band-maid and Scandal. If you want the link I can give you if you ask. Some other songs you should check out from Band-maid are Thrill, Dice, Manners, No God, Choose me, After Life or Warning! Another Japanese band you should check out is Scandal. I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs. Also check out Lovebites too.
💯% agree
Nice!
You should check out Babymetal, if you don't know them yet.
Another great band that shook things up.
In fact, both Babymetal and BandMaid are my favourite Metal and Hard Rock bands.
Road of Resistance (live in Japan) is Babymetal at their best, should you want to try.
"where the hell have I been" Is exactly the same thing I said to myself when I first heard them.
Hello, Hello, Hello! And welcome to Band Maid!
Wow, true story, eh bro?
Seems legit. :)
@@RahimRahmat Gary makes shit up all the time...just like me...about the best live rock band on the planet. LMAO
Bravo Sir!! Thanks for the giggle!
Great suggestions! Play, Real Existence and Dice are especially great for old rock fans.
Came here to say all of this. Yes, that 80s vibe, with just so, so much fantastic energy!
Totally agree, it's like discovering Iron maid-en back in the 80's but even better🤘
Welcome to Band-Maid!!! For a really cool surprise, I think you should check out Band-Maiko "Secret Miko Lips" th-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/w-d-xo.html This was an April Fools Day present from Band-Maid to their fans.
LOL, I was debating on when I should tell you about Band Maid after seeing you enjoy Babymetal -
Band Maid is another one of my favorite Japanese band, and for me, what's more fun is getting to know the girls - Babymetal and Band Maid,
here's a fun interview they did at a Japanese show where they briefly talked about how they started ... and a little habit MISA does during live performances :)
th-cam.com/video/SltjaoNBlbY/w-d-xo.html
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do a first time Band-Maid react to both "Domination" *and* "Freedom!" Fun overload! If I weren't a bonnet, I think my head would explode. Hopefully if that ever happens I'll be wearing myself, and all this lace will catch the shrapnel. **BOOM**
For sure. Domination is usually the entrance drug. Adding Freedom to a Band Maid first lesson just plunged this nice young lady into to full blown addiction.
Great first suggestion Indeed 👍
Welcome to the International Fellowship of Maidiacs...the best live rock band in the world.
I'm in.👍
I'm glad to see your reaction and that you enjoy them.
I think more females would love them as well, and that they could be positive, artistic role models.
I'm sure the band would love to see more girls at their shows.
Spread the word. Tell your friends.
Band Maid = World Domination!
Band-maid is making the world happy again 🤘
Band-Maid is diverse and will amaze you
with rock, ballads , instrumentals and acoustic versions. The fans will fill your comment section
and give you lots of info. Band-Maid fans are the best :) There are many official Live videos and
Official MV so enjoy your journey . Po
This song makes everybody smile
I love your reaction to the songs. Refreshing and real. I can see you had the same reaction I did as well.
Nice... the immediate today of the Kanami guitar solo! Respect!
Oh wow, didn't expect you to react to Band-Maid! I like! My ultimate favourite band!
I hold Saiki as the best singer in hard rock in a very long time, her power, vibrato, growl and tone is amazing.
Imho, the greatest hard rock band around and probably for the last 30-40 years or so. Excellent musicians, song writers and performers! Nice reaction! MISA MISA MISA....
I love watching someones first reaction to Band-Maid. So cool. So many songs in their book to react to now. Go for it.
The Maids are Awesome but beware of their charm Verdy.....or you'll soon be a Maidiac ❤🎙🎸🥁😎👌
Thank you! Never too late is correct! The good thing is that they have another 100+ great songs for you to discover, and I’m almost sure they will release another great album with 12 - 15 songs before the end of this year.
Welcome to Band maid.. Great reaction VERDY.. You have a long way to go, so many songs, and they are all very cool.. Best wishes from France
A smile of enjoyment, this is Band-Maid.
@@himbo754 Miku, by her own admittance, is a very clumsy person.
@@ShikataGaNai100 So why is she snowboarding?🤣🏔
Kanami has also admitted to being clumsy too the whole band has described her and Miku that way and it's so nice seeing all of them coming out of their shyness and to see Akane singing some back up along with misa made me stand up every time and yell Yes . best band . Long Live the PO!
What sets them apart for me is the consistent positive message and Outlook. They love playing, they love each other and they respect and appreciate their fans. Welcome, to the happiest band on earth.
BAND-MAID will be 10 years old in next August. So there are 100+ songs you can enjoy.
- a big crowd going wild with the band - especially Saiki - absolutely owning that stage and audience… which I gather was mainly Mexican males…
About a minute from the end (last video) the crowd is really amped up and Saiki wants them to quieten down a little - so, she ‘shushes’ them (nicely…) and hundreds of macho males immediately shut up! This riveting frontlady absolutely knows how to exert her power and no one complains: When Saiki tells you to shush, you shush!
‘Fantastic’ barely begins to describe this musical tour de force!!
Their the best female rock band in the world :) also check out NEMOPHILA and LOVEBITES from the female top metal scene🤘😎🤘
Band-Maid is an awesome hard rock band, welcome to the fun! Thanks for the reaction.
You have just scratched the surface. I envy you. I wish I could experience them for the first time again. Enjoy the ride!
Band maid are amazing as always. God save the Queens
Good job!. Welcome to the very Best Hard Rock Band out there. They are in active from 2013 and they have a huge catalogue of music so... enjoy!
Verdy good reaction. Thx. 😀
Some other all-woman bands are:
Aldious, a melodic metal band which has had three main vocalists, but I like that their most recent tour is with Maki Oyama, whose power is phenomenal.
Have fun!
They have been top of my playlist for a couple years now. I'm crazy about them. now you need check out all the other great all girl ROCK bands from Japan;
Well, did I promised too much? :)
I'm glad you liked it. And believe me, the catalog of these girls has so much more to offer.
As next recommendations 'Play' and 'Onset' will probably be mentioned most often, but you can also just pick something, and you surely won't be disappointed. The bold claims that they don't have a bad song are all true! :)
Greetings. 🙏🏻

Next Try
“Play” - official live video - you’re going to love it!

- “Choose Me” - official MV is probably best and a fun view - they played this in their cameo in Netflix movie “Kate”
- “Onset” - official live video - instrumental to give vocalist Saiki (pronounced like ‘psyche’) a break.
- “Manners” - Official MV - best new rock song of 2021 imho
- “Blooming” - official MV - buckle your seatbelt!! 🔥
- “About Us” - slow song written to fans during the pandemic
…And then dozens more…

Better late than never, right? Plus, now you have years of BAND-MAID Music Video to get through to catch up. Lucky you! Do 'Real Existence' LIVE next.
Discovering Band-Maid is kinda like winning a lottery you didn't know you entered!
best description ever 🤣
tHey are my favorite band. there playin hakes me HAPPY and I am 75 yo
Dear Verdy!
Greetings from an old French geezer in Shizuoka Cit under the benign care of Mount Fuji!
You sound French but your English is splendid, so I will keep this comment in English!
You will find out that you have just opened a trap into an an abyss of bliss. You will never come out! LOL
I am lucky enough to have lived very long in Japan and speaks the language fluently, but the language barrier means nothing at such a level of musicianship!
Their enormous and passionate following will tell you that Domination and Freedom are great songs indeed, but only the starters of an unending banquet!
Allow me to make my own suggestion:
Onset (Live instrumental), Blooming (video), Don't you Tell me (live), Turn me on.
That should be enough of a first day of reactions! LOL
Take good care of yourself (ves)!
Robert-Gilles
There is a sweet vibe about you. The same goes for Band-maid. Do go on with your journey, love your reactions.
Welcome aboard the Band Maid train. Make sure you buckle up! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
I swear I have never seen any person seem to love their job as much as Akane the drummer she always has a big grin

Doing U2 as well as U2 does in Daydreaming. Best Rock Band in the World!
Or Real Existence with one of her longest solos!
welcome to your next favorite band :) That nostalgic feeling is exactly what kept me interested in them
Yes, they are special - came across them 4 or five years ago (maybe longer) and always been impressed by their work.
Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid.
And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid members are:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

Love what you did here. The girls deserve all the promotion possible, their own company was not very good at that in the past.
Super cool reaction.👍
One of the most notable characteristics of the Japanese music scene is that it is full of female pop-rock, hard-rock and metal bands.
A few examples, for classic 80's hard-rock, Show-Ya: th-cam.com/video/1xsOCtK7Jt0/w-d-xo.html
For power metal, Mary's Blood: th-cam.com/video/KODPK5CSgU0/w-d-xo.html
& Lovebites: th-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/w-d-xo.html
For heavy electro-rock, Doll$Boxx: th-cam.com/video/EOLZ2gLGwL4/w-d-xo.html
And for nu metal Nemophila: th-cam.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/w-d-xo.html
About Nemophila you are 100% right, my description is more a clickbait than a fair portrait, my fault.😓
About Lovebites, Miyako & Midori, I respect them a lot... but truth be told, they arent among my favorites, but I included them in my coment because their current importance deserve a mention.👍
Thanx for the link.👍
First BABYMETAL and now Band Maid it’s your lucky day………………….. Akane !
Try Daydreaming
For another great female rock band try Gacharic Spin mindset
Excellent reactions!!!
'She be nasty on the guitar' ;) I completely agree :D
Most people start with Domination and then we recommend you go to Freedom but you went for both at once, good for you ! Thanks for reacting to my favourite band Band Maid ! There are no bad songs and you will get lots of recommendations so I will suggest my favourite track, 'Blooming' the official music video. Enjoy !!
welcome to the world of Japanese female band
Excellent reaction video.
Some reactors get deep into the "mechanics" of BAND-MAID's performance. That's cool. I also dig professional instrumentalists going, "Wait a second! How did she do that?"
But seing you react like so many of us did when we discovered these "Five, cute, musical badasses." Like falling in love all over again.
That was a fun reaction! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed BAND-MAID, they are my favorite band a the moment.
Your accent sounds like you are from France. Am I wrong?
Thanks for this video
You are very close. 😁 I am from Canada in the province of Québec where we speak french.
@@verdychannel11 C’est un plaisir de croiser une francophone sur TH-cam. Salutations de France et bonne année 🇫🇷👋🏻🥳
@@2abug bonne année à toi aussi 😃
Japan have for years a lot of all-female bands. In pop, rock and even heavy metal.
Some of them are old, even from the 80. As an example, you have in punk-rock a band like Shonen Knife, founded un 1981 and still active (the singer is 61 years now but still rocks on stage)
Other examples can be bands like Destrose, Fate-Gear, Scandal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Mary´s Blood, Aldious, Stereopony and the list goes on.
Great reaction and so many more Band-Maid songs to discover. Try Manners/Blackhole (live) 🤘
But you really should be listening not reading for first reactions.
they have a wild side of their own in some of their songs, I'm sure friends Maidiacs (as fans of band maids) are amazing will give you the right recommendations and guarantee your satisfaction,
thank you for reacting to them, and hope you will come again and again
Dear Verdy!
We have many Quebecquois in Shizuoka! LOL
And at least one likes Band Maid!
Band-Maid is my favorite atm but you should also try out the band "The Warning" when you have time
Some good stuff in Band Maid!
🤘😀🤘
Here's to your future enjoyment!
You'll never gonna disappointed with BAND-MAID! 🤟🏻😎
