The Nitara and Cyrax moment I believe was just a little Easter egg at Nitara’s ending in Deadly Alliance. Cyrax was helping her get her realm’s orb I believe.
God I miss the original Mortal Kombat Timeline, it had so many awesome mini sub plots within it between many of the characters and all the other realms had so much rich history and original lore. John Tobias leaving really hurt the franchise in my opinion.
Actually john was doing mythologies while ed was doing mk4 but I think john still helped out on mk4 from time to time after that they went there separate ways it was just ed boon until midway went bankrupt and warner brother's bought them out
@@GilpsterOk yeah that’s right, the 3D PS2/XBOX era was a John Tobiasless period, his last time doing anything with MK was the MK Mythologies Sub-Zero story, and a little bit with MK 4. Even though Mortal Kombat didn’t have Tobias in the 3D Era, the 3D Trilogy, V, VI, VII, had some of the best storytelling in the series. I am still a bit down and angered at the fact that they built Shinnok up as a legit huge threat, with him being a fallen Elder God back in some of the Kharaters’ bios and their endings, such as Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and then we finally get a physical form and interaction with Shinnok in MK Mythologies Sub-Zero and then in MK 4. Even though he seemed all powerful in MK Mythologies Sub-Zero, by giving you a one shot and killing you in his corrupted form, and literally toying with Sub-Zero Bi-Han by floating around and laughing in his physical regular form, the only way to beat him is to take his amulet from around his neck and run very fast away from him through a portal that leads back to Earthrealm. In that game he seemed like an unbeatable God, like he was supposed to be, but sadly by MK 4’s period of the original timeline, all of the Kombatants can easily beat him in the game, and in story, Liu Kang easily defeats him in Kombat. Then from that point on, he was a weak threat throughout the history, and he shouldn’t be, because he’s a fallen Elder God that actually defeated and killed Lucifer in the Netherrealm and took the crown from him and became the new ruler. Don’t even get me started on the new timeline’s portrayal of Shinnok, it’s just downright depressing.
@@nickforest7816 yeah, that’s right. Iirc the One Being was the primordial state of the universe as a supreme living entity, before the Elder Gods split it into the actual realms we know in the series. "Lucifer is part of the Mortal Kombat lore?" Yes. In the Mortal Kombat mythologies strategy guides and the Mortal Kombat 4 companion comic, the narrative talks about how after Raiden and Shinnok's great prehistoric battle, Raiden with the help of the elder deities banished Shinnok into the Netherrealm. When he got there, Lucifer sent an army of souls that Shinnok corrupted or killed to attack him (Raiden and Shinnok's prehistoric battle almost wiped out the Saurians and nearly destroyed the realm so we're talkin' in the millions to billions maybe, maybe more?). After defeating Shinnok, Lucifer chained him up and tortured him. Quan Chi eventually showed up in the Nether and struck a deal with Shinnok to be his right hand man and go conquer the realms, Shinnok agreed, then Quan Chi freed him and they waged a war on Lucifer and eventually defeated him and took over the realm. That's why he's in charge of the Nether more or less when Sub-Zero Mythologies kicks off, but also why he's stuck there.

Great video. The original village was so cool and mysterious in alot of ways. It never even had a name. It seems like it may have been the last area created and unfinished with all the locked areas and unfinished side quests and items. I always wondered what happened to it? Did they ready the lin kuei? What about Shujinko's childhood friends? Why did mysterious recognizable characters travel through the village? Did shujinko ever return? And who raised shujinko and just let him head out of the gates without clearing it with them? Sadly its most likely best if it never comes back because the only idea I see netherrealm coming up with is just saying that the village was destroyed by D'Vorah or something. It would be cool if we could get an interview with a konquest developer to find out more secrets and what ifs.
The Cyborg CPU couldn't have been removed over the aspect of turning people into Cyborgs being too scary; as that is the entire basis of the Lin Kuei Cyber Initiative(Cyrax, Sektor, and later Frost, and Sub-Zero).
@15:05 , The reason it gave you a different line of speech here, is because the audio is not tied to the characters. The audio is indexed. When you talk to a character, the code pretty much says "play sound (index number)". Since you were clipping thru walls, the game treats you as if you are in the other part of the map still. The index points to a different sound over there. You can confirm this by finding the sounds names and then check what the index number is for both of them. You will likely find that they both share the same index number.
23:52 Actually a TH-camr named ermaccer got inside the temple using the door unlock command code from the in game files. And it is decorated in the inside, however there's nothing of importance except a random table in the middle of the room.

The Nitara and Cyrax in the Netherealm is a huge Easter egg. In MK: Deadly Alliance, she told Cyrax to find the orb in lava which bound her realm to Outworld in exchange for Cyrax being sent back to Earthrealm. Cyrax got the orb and Nitara sent him back. But this was supposed to happen in Outworld, not the Netherealm. Maybe it’s just the lava reference I guess.
I love these kinds of videos. Ones about old games that are interesting enough that people can keep discussing them years later. In this games case it kinda feel like most of the answers are 'unfinished content' which is pretty dissapointing, but I still love these kinds of mysteries!
That NPC still says that line, he only changes his dialogue to “ the truce is no more” line after you complete the Yinasi and Yangese side mission. If not he will still say find your own treasure
If you take a look at production arts and read the descriptions you can discover more cut content. 1.The frozen chamber stage was cut and they even said that "we may see it future" which we did in Armageddon. 2.They thought about adding fully 2v2 fights which was abandoned early in development. 3.They wanted to add some button masing sections for some stage fatalities. Which was cut. 4.there was supposed to be a Quan Chi palace challenge which you had to fight enemies in there by Shujinko which was cut from the game. 5.They wanted to add a fatality of beetles eating the loser which was cut. In my opinion, all these removed content don't make Deception "unfinished".(All video games get downgraded from concept in development phase.)

Like I said in your live chat, there are lots of interesting secrets and dropped content in Deadly Alliance I can definitely share with you no problem. The original trailer for the game is on TH-cam. There are a multitude of it and from my knowledge there are a few noticeable differences from it compared to the final game. I'd like to point out some things too in this video. 1-Kung Lao does use the broadsword but he uses a different sword style compared to Quan Chi. Quan Chi also used two broadswords in Deadly Alliance. 2-Someone uploaded a fatality video of Mortal Kombat Unchained on the PSP a few years ago and yes Kitana, Jax and Frost have fatalities but only 1. Shao Khan is also playable in it.

I was just talking about this game the other day. Very happy to find this in my recommended. As a kid this was absolutely mind blowing and so fun. I never really thought about the development and creation of the game, it’d be so cool if we could get this exact konquest back. None of the other even come close to it.
I always felt mk:d konquest mode had this amazing vibe to it. Eerie almost. Wish I could remember my old deception code so I could access my fully finished konquest file.
41:14 during development, Noob and Smoke's alternative costumes were supposed to be their default costumes, but were swapped during development. In promotional images for the game, it confirms this.
Amazing video Matt. I spent countless hours playing Deception's konquest mode when I was younger, and seeing cool new discoveries like these is awesome. I really hope you could make a part 2 someday.
I love Deception. People don’t like it because of its new characters but people love MK1 and every character in that game was new to us... deception is truly an original MK game.
The staff was to duel with Shao Kahn, but the team didn't get to finish him at the base game, so It got cut off. That's what I can understand from the facts.
Omg! I never listened to those dialogues played backwards. Some of them are very curious and interesting. I was expecting to be scared at at least one of them but I wasn't, although they sound kinda creepy, lmao Thank you so much for sharing this! Now I love Deception even more 💟
Stryker most likely was. Watch Shujinko's ending where it shows him and all the people he's learned from - Stryker is there in the back and off to the side. All other characters shown are playable characters from Deception that have training/tutorial missions with (either during Konquest Mode's story or as an optional, side mission). So Stryker was most likely intended to be playable in Deception, and specifically would've probably had a training mission in Konquest Mode. I'd imagine since Stryker was in the main menu, and Fujin is far more important than Stryker, that Fujin was likely meant to be playable as well.
To me, this konquest mode is what shenmue wanted to be: an open world rpg with a battle system based on a fighting system and a simulation aspect to it, but it is so much better than shenmue in so many ways, and obviously on a very lower budget.
hey bro. i love your accent! thanks for taking the time to make this video about deception - i always considered the konquest mode to be a masterpiece. i viscerally remember wondering what the ninja star was for.

What if the Village in Mk Legends Snow Blind is That Village?
I love MK Deception, how have I not found this video until only after 8 months of it being uploaded
MK Deception was such an ambitious game. Konquest mode is a massive game in itself. Let alone the main fighting game platform.
If I had a time machine, life was so simple
And it is decorated in the inside, however there's nothing of importance except a random table in the middle of the room.
lol one of the npcs talking backwards just casually telling you the whole plot of the konquest
This chapter had the very best Konquest Mode.
I miss Konquest Mode. Imagine if they brought it back... :)
Man this gave me so much nostalgia. I put in sooo many hours in deception as a kid
The golden era of MK titles IMO.
everyone who speaks backwards in Deception: *vague and cryptid messages/messages about other characters*
That one dude in Chaosrealm who speaks backward: Make sure you're being a good kid and do what you're told
That one chick in Chaosrealm: Shout out to the homies!
A random person in the Netherrealm: No Mrs. Jinkins, we don't have hidden satanic messages in our games.
Chaosrealm is suddenly not so chaotic
@@marcclay9125 yup
Shujinko probably thinking how the fuck you know these things?
@@JoshDeSnivy lol. Maybe
True because Nitara is also in Outworld in a cave behind Baraka’s camp.
I love these kinds of videos. Ones about old games that are interesting enough that people can keep discussing them years later. In this games case it kinda feel like most of the answers are 'unfinished content' which is pretty dissapointing, but I still love these kinds of mysteries!
The mortal kombat I got to play the most. So damn nostalgic
I wish I could go back to them good ole days fr 😭
Thanks for including all the backwards dialogue bits at the end! Some gems in there!
Incredible work. God, what I wouldn't give for a proper Mortal Kombat open-world RPG...
That would be awesome especially if you could pick your allegiance etc
@@RinSupremacy it's called jade empire
@@miminoran8948 There was a time when I'd give my firstborn for an MK game in the style of Jade Empire (or at least a Jade Empire 2). But now that the Bioware we used to know and love has become a shambling necromorph, I'd want them as far away from a theoretical JE2 as possible.
Damn Hsu Hao gets no love LOL.. also i knew it.. Scorpion is the true champion to the elder gods..
and these backwards messages play forward give alot of insight to Deception and the story
I absolutely adored this video Matt. Getting flashbacks of your old Shaolin Monks Non Playable Characters Showcase video when you first started off your channel. Exceptional work you have done here.
I don't know why they stopped the konquest Mode since the ps3/360 generation. Imagine mk11 having a konquest Mode 🤩
its funny you mentioned GT2 not being finished. I remember unlocking a drag race car, and you can barely turn it. I was so perplexed I actually called sony to ask them what the deal was. For real. They told me that there was supposed to be a drag race mode but they never finished it.
This is such a incredible game top to bottom. Loved this video, one of my favorites of all time.
The young model for shujinko was meant to be his original second costume but ofc they switched it off
incredible work on this video. i loved this game as a kid and it seems like it gets so little love nowadays. glad someone is putting in time to make amazing discoveries like this
Thanks! I always wanted to get to the bottom of this game, and while we still don't have all the answers, I think this is as much as we can find out for now.
51:25 This could've saved Shujinko decades of time lol
Can we pressure ed and NRS to remake Deception with all the cut content?
This game is a big part of my childhood so its cool learning so much stuff about this. I hope that one day we'll get a remake for Deception's Konquest and that they'll be able to put in most of the content that scrapped.
This video deserves so much more views!!!
Man I am a huge MKtrilogy fan. Once 4 came out I was so sad and thought MK was dead. Deadly alliance and deception made me so happy and I loved the story mode so much. Love the roam aspect. Had so much fun playing this game
Having the 3D mk games released back to back was amazing! At the time didn’t think any of it but we had it all with MK! The nostalgia is real with it
My favourite MK mainly because the Konquest free roaming and discovery has made me enjoy it so much
HI THERE
i did not imagine there was more to this game after playing it for years and reading all the easter eggs and secrets on different website!
thanks for the amazing video!!!
Looking forward to the part 2... can you do armageddon next?
I was just talking about this game the other day. Very happy to find this in my recommended. As a kid this was absolutely mind blowing and so fun. I never really thought about the development and creation of the game, it’d be so cool if we could get this exact konquest back. None of the other even come close to it.
Nice upload 😁😁
I always felt mk:d konquest mode had this amazing vibe to it. Eerie almost. Wish I could remember my old deception code so I could access my fully finished konquest file.
Usually the kode is X ⏺ 🔼 L1 R1 ⏹
Thank me later
The manual did tell you to write it down so I suppose it's on you.
Though I still wish you luck.
I’ve always found MK Deception Konquest fun. Just running around is fun and exploring the worlds.
This deserves a lot more views! You did such a great job on this video :)
This is certainly amongst the greatest videos on this platform.
41:14 during development, Noob and Smoke's alternative costumes were supposed to be their default costumes, but were swapped during development. In promotional images for the game, it confirms this.
noobs original costume was havik. it was too big of a change and they made havik (who was going to be called skab) an original character.
Amazing video Matt. I spent countless hours playing Deception's konquest mode when I was younger, and seeing cool new discoveries like these is awesome. I really hope you could make a part 2 someday.
Still have my GameCube copy. One of my favourite games ever tbh
Laughed at Mocap there getting hit in the chest. @ 38:51 & suddenly just bending over saying that.
I love Deception. People don’t like it because of its new characters but people love MK1 and every character in that game was new to us... deception is truly an original MK game.
The staff was to duel with Shao Kahn, but the team didn't get to finish him at the base game, so It got cut off. That's what I can understand from the facts.
these games captured a moment in time for me, so glad that they exist. heres to them one day being remade.
AMAZING work my friend The Team did awesome, and Mk Deception is still one of my fav titles if i just want to relax to some good nostalgia
This is so underrated 😭😭😭
U don't know how much i love this game, big shout out to you , i literally appreciate the video 👌👌👌👌
thanks for all the effort u put in this video
That was some highly educational stuff on one of my favorite MK games! Thank you!
Omg! I never listened to those dialogues played backwards. Some of them are very curious and interesting. I was expecting to be scared at at least one of them but I wasn't, although they sound kinda creepy, lmao
Thank you so much for sharing this! Now I love Deception even more 💟
"There is a piece of me in everyone..." is pretty creepy to me
A lot of interesting stuff in here.
the backwards talk is the BEST way on slipping lore bits in
The something wierd flying across the moon is a reference to finding reptile in the pit in the first mortal kombat
Knowing Midway, I wouldn't be too surprised if many of these unused items were never meant to have an use. The devs liked to troll us like that.
"Will Tsu Hao ever come back from the dead? Ehhh, probably not" That has to be my favorite from the hidden messages, lol
I found that one hilarious. In MK11 Erron Black throws his head on the floor from a bag he has it in lol
Amazing recommendation every second of this is a joy thank you
To me, this konquest mode is what shenmue wanted to be: an open world rpg with a battle system based on a fighting system and a simulation aspect to it, but it is so much better than shenmue in so many ways, and obviously on a very lower budget.
hey bro. i love your accent! thanks for taking the time to make this video about deception - i always considered the konquest mode to be a masterpiece. i viscerally remember wondering what the ninja star was for.
The piece of chicken was for kano😂
Amazing video, extremely well done and very entertaining throughout. Love this game and it will always have a place in my heart, great to see new content about it.
Crazy how the greatest and most beloved 3D era mortal kombat game was incomplete 😂💯
@@sluttyboy69 I respect everybody’s opinions, but MAN, idk about this one!! 😂👀
@@sluttyboy69 I too was first introduced to DA first, my bro bought the game and I loved it! And that character select screen music; BRUH, best of the 3D generation, my absolute favorite theme of all time 🙌🏾💯💯 but deception just feels like what deadly alliance really wanted to be, they improved on it so much
@@sluttyboy69 same mayne, would love a DA, Shaolin monks, deception and Armageddon remaster, but sadly that will most likely never happen, as Midway is no more 😩😩
Appreciate your hard work for the kulture 👍
Excellent video. Great job finding all these secrets and explaining everything. Huge nostalgia hit from Konquest.
Awesome work, I love this game
It's a shame that Midway didn't have enough money/time to make something bigger, it has a lot of potential even in 2021
I remember loving this game back in the day! I generally don’t like fighting games, but I love MK and the exploration mode in this one was great. 👍👍👍
Enjoyed every second of this video, absolutely amazing work! the hidden dialogue reveals so much is an actual lore gold mine.
Great video. Thank you.
Deception never felt complete as you don’t fight Onaga. I hate that they had to crunch to complete it the game because it could’ve been the best MK story to this day.
The music in Deception is incredible.
I grew up with PS2 not gamecube so I was always mad jealous of my friends with Gamecubes that had Shao Kahn/Goro
I imagined the ending would play if you let the timer run out when fighting against Onaga, like Tekken 5's Jinpachi ending, but that didn't work out either.
I think the unplayable characters with the face pic underneath the health bar are the closest to being finished while the other ones are not
This vid rules! Awesome job, Matt!
