Our August addition to the CAS fleet is this unicorn-find 1996-registered Ford Escort RS Cosworth finished in Auralis Blue and with just over 16,000 miles on the clock. Raj takes us through the story behind this iconic rallying legend, shows you how clean the car really is and talks about the future plans. This is one special 'unicorn' car and the polar opposite of July's purchase!

On the later small turbo version Ford were not quite so generous with the underseal as they were on the early big turbo cars so the later ones are more susceptible to the dreaded tin worm 😢 Take a look at a product called Lanoguard that is a spray on underside sealer…… the beauty of it is that it is temporary in that it can be removed using citrus degreaser. So give the full underside a generous coating and use the car in all weathers and even salty conditions with no fear of corrosion 😎. The product is based on an extract from sheep’s wool called Lanolin. The reason you’ve never seen a rusty sheep is because this stuff works 😎🤩👍😛

A legend in the car world. A set of 18" Cossie reps will look the absolute business against the Auralis blue. It already looks to have aftermarket suspension so you're onto a winner with just the wheels. And Morette headlights would finish it off imo.

That is a stunner Raj, I'd say it definitely needs the 18" reps, they would look spot on, I'd say its already lowered, you can't go mad low on the 4x4 cossy because of the drive shafts start to pull out the diffs and that's a B&M quick shifter in the car by the looks of the gear knob common upgrade for the cossy. I love the car it is proper minter, definitely need to add a 3dr cossy to the collection and a saff😉🤣

Fantastic example of a great iconic car, well done sir. The BT version is the way to go though, especially with that iconic cam cover and bigger turbo.
Great choice, and well done on securing such a great example. On the wheels go for identical in 18" (summer) and keep the 16" for the winter tires. On the Lancia, another great choice, but you then need to for some Audi's. Quattro and RS2 would be strong candidates. An S2 would also be a great car to secure from the era. Great episode, and its obvious you are very happy with your choice!

Can’t go wrong with 18 in standard replicas, or 18in compomotives. You don’t wanna lower it judging by the front lip clearance at 14:33 reversing in 😮
Absolute beauty. I think a car of this calibre, being this low mileage and this original, has to be kept this way.

To be honest it looks a bit lowered already 🤔 My first one of these was a standard late ‘96 small turbo car and it looked like it was on stilts compared to yours ! Oh, and if you drive it properly you will warp the front discs in no time so budget for some AP brakes but choose your wheels first as some of the bigger AP brake rotors will be too big for some of the wheel options available 👌

@@CarAudioSecurityUK Glad to share knowledge accumulated over the years…..when it comes to wheel choice the 18” Rondell is a popular choice as they look good but be aware that the reason they are hard to find now is because they were made of chocolate and many were destroyed by our fabulous roads 😂 The design of the mould was bought out by a company called Engell or Engells or Engels, I can’t exactly remember now but the made a stronger version but only a low production volume so again, hard to find 🥴

If the four piece front splitter set is genuine Ford original then I would swap it out for a carbon fibre replica that looks great and doesn’t go all wibbly wobbly and rippled like the Ford oem bits which you should lock up for safe keeping as you’ll waste half of your life looking for a replacement if it gets damaged !
love these i wouldnt mind one. Is that chin spoiler meant to have that big dent in it? Shame its been lowered, maybe springs been changed, easy to return to stock height though
The 'dent' is purely where the locking screw holds the spoiler in place. May need some adjusting 👍🏼

In a previous video, you explained that you were looking for an Escort Cosworth, but that you were not willing to pay the figures that are asked for it today. An Escort with 16,000 miles on the clock must have cost you over £50,000. Anything over £25,000 is nonsense.
the days of Escort Cosworth's for £25K are long gone... let's just say we paid well below market value for this one 👍🏼

It’s a restored car on fake plates as no Ford dealer would put their name to illegally misplaced digits, it’s lowered so will of had bigger wheels fitted and got a non standard exhaust and the gear knobs wrong too.
Chances are on the original reg someone will know the person who restored that
