I saw this car at a rally show here in Melbourne earlier this year with a for sale sign on it. Clearly wasn't likely to sell in Oz, talking to the owner / minder, he said I wasn't the first person to suggest it goes back to the UK to be auctioned, or at least get exposure on a global auction site. Amazing to see it then, looks like it went into the container shortly afterwards. I'll just have to make do with the photos I took and hope it sells well on the weekend. It's immaculate. Great story, nice to see Jonny being given the opportunity to unbox it.

This car belonged to My late father. His partner then sold it off as soon as he died and we tried desperately to track it down. We came across it earlier this year online but sadly we could not get the funds together in time to buy it back. Believe it or not, it sat in My Dads dusty garage for last 10 years at least, covered in my little brothers old bedding 😂. I have pictures of it hiding under a “Finding Nemo” doona cover! He would be so happy to see it now, but furious it wasn’t passed on rightfully to us. He knew a cars like nobody else, he knew what this was worth and unfortunately it was sold off without any consultation or regard for what he would want done with it. He ran a Historc Car restoration business, he was so busy restoring other peolpes cars, he never got the time for his dream car. Today is actually is birthday, so it’s very odd that this popped up.

This was my father's car. It was kept in his garage at his property in Kinglake, Victoria. Australia. He passed away in a car accident in 2019. He had it covered in my little brothers bed sheets for years. He told me it was his retirement. However, his partner sold the car and his entire car collection without our knowledge. My brother went with dad to pick this car up. I have photos of this vehicle in his garage. Today is dads birthday. Funny we have viewed this video today.

What an absolute beauty! Bet she'll sell high! Got a challenge for you Jonny, there is a one of one Escort Cosworth that has disappeared and hasn't been tracked down yet. It was called the Acropolis. Ford were going to produce 200 of them to celebrate the win at the Acropolis rally in 1993 but only a single prototype was made. Apparently so the stories go, it was sold to someone who prepped it for local rallying and was used for a while then it disappeared. There isn't a lot of information about it anywhere. According to the DVLA it was sorned may 2018 so up until 5 years ago it was active. It would be quite an amazing find if anyone was to be able to track it down...

This car belonged to my late father. He had this stored in his garage in Melbourne, Australia for many, many years. He ran a Historic car restoration business. He passed away in 2019 in a road accident and he always said this car was his retirement fund. He always told my siblings and I this would be for our future. I have photos of this in it’s unrestored state from our garage at home. When he died, the car was sold off by his partner and was never seen again. My Dad would look down today and be so happy to see it like this, but also heartbroken it is not with his children. We heard many stories about how it came to be, and his plans to restore it. It had distinctive jigsaw puzzle piece stickers on it in our time.
To whoever buys this car, enjoy it and please treasure it, Because my Dad had a particular connection to this car and sadly it has left my family forever.

Beautiful car,I remember my dad purchased a 1988 Sierra Sapphire second hand back in the early 90s and it was just a regular Sapphire (Non RS) but for some reason had RS alloys on it,Anyway when he pulled outside the place to sort his insurance they specifically asked him is THAT an RS and he said no its just a Sapphire and they said oh thats good because if it had been an RS we would not have insured it. :D

There's truly something nostalgic about this car, my favourite classic. I was fortunate that my parent owned one when I was a child (the blue colour we're all familiar of) and had fond memories sitting in the back as the coolest kid in the estate/town. I was truly gutted when they sold it and now one of these in mint condition will fetch upwards of £100k. I'd be interested to know what this will/has fetched at auction. I certainly can't afford one lol.

Definitely go to a collector, for over £500k, if it’s Group N specced, should be running no more than 300bhp, as these cars where limited after Group B monsters, but for the money this should bring, it needs the centre caps 😂 but I can only imagine they will be in a plastic bag in the glove box. 😁👍🏻

Collectors particularly value racing cars with works-team providence or low mileage road cars of limited-run models in “the right spec and colour”. This is neither of these and a “boggo” Group N spec Cossie (which Ford were literally giving away at the time as no one wanted them) is undoubtedly the least desirable spec possible. My guess is it won’t fetch more than £250k, which is still huge money for what it is but nowhere near others guesstimates…

@@Lemingtona-x5gYep, mileage aside it’s the least desirable Escort Cosworth I’ve ever seen. It’s Group N spec so will make a shit road car but neither does it have any rallying pedigree or providence - that all belongs to the “works” Group A cars, which were literally in a different league. Serious collectors will surely pay more for a 25,000 mile road going model in the right spec and colour…

Interesting point. The Group N models were the least desirable in period, lots of commenters here are confusing this example with full on Group A models that were produced in small numbers and cost 10x more when new. Collectors usually look for mint road cars or racing cars with providence…

My mate had a blue one. It was his pride and joy. No expense spared in care or storage. Kept in a filtered, humidity controlled cocoon in an alarmed garage with his old diesel escorts parked in the drive out front. He came home from work and the alarm was going off, he went up to the garage and noticed the doors were sitting weird. He unlocked the locks and the door fell over. The car was gone. Thieves had waited until he left for work and cut the hinge pins. An neighbour asked what they were doing and they said they were there to replace the hinges but my mate had forgotten to switch off the alarm, they said he was on his way so the neighbour left them to it.
