Lovely car pal. I have a mint one on a C plate 1986. Belonged to my dad from 1990 - 2000 when he sold it. I found it and bought it back in 2019. Sadly dad had passed away 6 months before I got it. He’d have loved to see it as it was his favourite car he ever owned. Brings a smile to my face every time I drive it 😊
That’s a nice story about your dads escort RS , sorry about your dad not getting to see it again.the car has a great history for you, hold onto the nice memories.👊
I was an S2 boy myself with a tuned Turbosystems / Castle Performance Engineering mercury grey ‘87 back in the day and a Turbosystems modded ‘91 Fiesta RS Turbo after that but a few friends had the S1 and looks wise I’m with you that the shape is more appealing . I went Japanese after with MR2 Turbos and WRX’s but I do miss those Fords.
Had an S1 RS turbo C reg 1985 ( no indicator repeaters on the wings ) that the 1986 had. Belonged to the RS owners club too. Started my journey into RS’s from an A reg XR3i, then RS 1600i, then S1 RS turbo and finally a S2 RS turbo. My S1 cost £7,150 back then but what a car. Good luck with the upgrades an look forward to seeing the journey ahead with the S1. Subscribed & liked 👍
Had one of these from new C165 E**. Sent it to a Turbo Technics in Northampton for their 2 stage boost package. Car was lovely.... Then I hit a cow in the middle of road. Cow walked off, Mrs was pregnant (daughter now 38) and after it was fixed up with A piller damage I sold it on... One of those wish I had not like so many of us. Good report Raj and great memories for me
Hi from South Africa. We had an XR3 Escort way back in the 90's(nowhere near an RS Turbo) and I honestly didnt know much about cars to love it.Now seeing this beast not only gives me crazy nostalgia, but it also makes me wish to get one for my old man to enjoy in his retirement.Legendary car, great content. Man what a beautiful example.
Lovely mate, I used to see a few of these ripping around Uxbridge doing the Uxbridge loop. My mk1 escort couldn’t keep up with them in its standard 1300cc form but were the car to have in the early 90’s
Your Escort is stunning I would go with the polished RS wheels.I remember when I was a kid one of the girls in my street her dad had one and it was his pride and joy it also so had back window louvres in black the car was red it look amazing.
My old car,me and a great friend rebuilt it...the car needed saving and we did it. It was a mess, the interior was trashed so we refurbed all the seats, carpets and installed a new uncut dash...the engine never ran properly and was mis firing and the timing was miles out,my mechanic got it running well and its done barely 300 miles since it was done and fully serviced..theres no wiring for the stereo,it had been removed before i bought it along with the speakers. The carpets were covered in grease and the whole thing stank it was being ragged around by a classic car dealer who clearly didnt care about it,i wasnt going to buy it but we HAD to save it...it took weeks to clean the carpets and bring the interior up to scratch and fitting the dash was a bitch of a job...the wiring was a mess and it was made safe for one as the car could of caught 🔥at any time as Stevie Wonder had obviously done the wiring. The floors were resprayed under the carpets and in the boot, and the whole car given some much needed love. I notice the private plate has gone which is a shame. It was a tribute to the proffesionals,VHK plates,Im glad its gone to a good home though lowering it will ruin it in my opinion. The ride is already hard and crashy . The car looks better standard but i guess youve bought it so its up to you. Its a great example i just hope you keep it tasteful. Im sure you will. We retrimmed the seats with genuine Ford Monza cloth, found brand new old stock mats and the whole thing was transformed. Glad u like it Raj,enjoy!
Wow, super knowing one of the previous owners has watched this episode and given a massive overview of the previous history. If you have any pictures of the restoration process can you please get in touch so we can have them for our file? Plus, don't worry, all upgrades will improve the car (and will be fully reversible). Email: raj@caraudiosecurity.com 👍🏽
Hi Raj. lovely car. Owned one for 2 years from 1988 to 90. Absolutely adored it, it was my pride and joy. Unfortunately, so did the villains! Despite so called state of the art (at that time) alarms, it was stolen twice. The last time it was written off by the insurance, but it was not badly damaged. I took the car back and some cash, had it repaired, and sold it in 1990 for £6250, having bought it for £6500, so didn't do too badly. I had it up-rated by Turbo Technics in Newcastle who took it to 165 BHP, it went like a rocket. Agree with others, take all the boy-racer blue silicone and dump valve off it and make it completely original, even the alloys, they suit those cars perfectly.
I grew up during the 70's with the mrk1 escort i was stil a baby..one british car that was extremly reliable! In south africa that old mark1 was a bullet proof tank.this vid brings so much joy for me
Love it Raj, I had a s2, but really wanted a s1. Don't change the wheels just polish the face of the std wheels with white inserts of them😍 like back in the day and coilovers, loved the power engineering shout out, I used to work there😀
Hi mate, Great video. I saw you mentioned fitting Central locking, which is something I did back in the day. The series one doesn't have a solenoid in the drivers door as this is always manually switched with the key. So only the boot and passenger door will unlock when you press the button on the key fob. It is possible to fit a solenoid from a passenger door to the drivers side lock mechanism. I have bought the spare parts from a breaker years ago but still yet to fit it. Good luck with the car pal. #minter..
I had this car in my early 20s. I loved it so much. It died a death and the only thing I have left is the RS steering wheel. mine didn't say Ford like this one it said RS. This bought back so many memories. Thankyou.
Keep it standard. I had 2 of these C876JTM and C901FTT, real working class heroes, people let you out of junction's and give you the thumbs up. I also had a Series 2, G397VMP.
I had two Mk2 RS Turbos back in the day but the MK1 was always my favourite. I couldn't afford the Mk1 at the time and got the mk2's quite a few years later. Great looking car you have there 🙂
Lovely S1 m8, always wanted one but cosworths have always been my first love. If the crack in the dash isn’t really bad get it repaired and filled you would be amazed at how good dash repairs are these days. Just one thing to note if u aren’t aware get the front and rear Ford blue oval badges changed to the period correct lighter blue shade 👍 Cracking car to add to your impressive collection 👌
Thanks for watching and the feedback - the dash has been repaired (poorly) before and painted, think we will need a new one at some point. Ford badges already on our wanted list
Had a non custom one back when I was 23..... B 48 D**, had the Turbo Technics 2 stage kit on it with the flick switch and boost gauge near the wheel, also had Koni shocks on it, It is till out there as a SORN with last NOT expiring in 2021......Traded a blue/silver RS 1600I to get it.......either car I wish I still had today considering the crazy prices
Love your hot hatch collection. Looks a proper nice straight S1 that😇 I bought a low mileage S1 'C377 HAR' from 'Mike Young Garage' in Ilford back in 90', owned it for over 4 years, loved that car. Like you it had to be a S1, Mike Young Garage was an independent RS specialist back in the day for those who didn't know, not cheap but top quality RS's for sale. I could of had a White 'E' plate low mileage S2 for the same money at the time from him but to me there was no contest. Sometimes I think back and regret not buying the Graphite Grey 4k miles RS1600i he had for sale sat next to mine in the showroom at that time for £2k less. Memories eh. Just found your channel; Subscribed👍
Great honest review on your car good luck wiv it best mate had one back in the day about 7yr old paid 2500 wiv 60k miles was mint spent many a time replacing pistons lol was always faster than the series 2 off the mark until it hit limiter in 5th gear and blew a piston or 2 lower geared than the mk 2
The best rs turbo by far in my opinion when I was young there was one down the road from where I hung around it was a super chip version tho, never seen one since, nice buy pal
I'm not keen on it at the moment.. (aside from wanting one for the investment) but I know you have great taste in all your cars and when you're finished with this one it will be truly epic. 👍
Please leave it standard to look at.. I agree perhaps drop it just a touch and get that engine bay looking standard with the correct airbox And pop in a k and n element. Ditch the chav valve too. If I had it I'd go for a boost upgrade to to nice safe 1bar to give you circa 175bhp..spot on for one of these along with a cossie 4x4 brake upgrade up front. I just love a standard looking car with extra power Wolf in sheep's clothing.....top motor pal!
Hey Raj! JW autoshine might be someone to talk to. He’s mad into his fords and has a series 1 too. Might be able to find or know of someone with the parts you want! Loving the retro cars lately! 👊
Nice example, needs satin black around grille, bonnet insulation and front suspension sorted (too low) I had a S1 which has just came 3rd in show at Dubshed NI.
Lovely example Had an rs1600i which I absolutely loved It got wrote off so I bought a series 2 off my brother Still think the mk3s look better Enjoy ownership

Good buy. Subbed for this alone but love the 2 motors up on that mezzanine floor. Mk1 Astra GTE would look good for the set. Love an S1. Price wise the White S1's are still attainable for your average man unlike Princess Diana's Black one 650k.
@@CarAudioSecurityUK I did have a few S2 RS’s Renault 5GT Turbo / Cavalier SRI 130 , nova SR / Focus RS 53 plate . But the daddy of all was my escort Cosworth in sky blue P reg . Wish I still had it now ££££££ 🙈😂😂

Typical RS Ford driver, first thing you do is cut up a Vauxhall . pulling onto the motorway 🤣🤣🤣 love it haha S1 One of my favourite cars.. really enjoyed the video mate keep up the good work 💪🏻

Awesome car and loving the 80s music too. Amazing addition to the collection.
Love that 80's three stalk Ford setup.

awesome predicted a series 2 as i thought you would have preferred the more softer modern but wasn"t far wrong
Apart from bumper I'd leave as is, not often you see one atall least of all original spec!
nice car and yes princess dianas car sold for 650,000 so its got to be dearest ford escort now
Nice car but front grill needs the the black edge painting 👍
I remember these been a real head turner when they were launched and so much nicer then the Mk4
Please consider putting the Escort RS Cosworth wheels on the RS Turbo.. they look mint on a series 1.. peace
Good looking car.would love to have that
Great car and a purchase well timed with regards to the price Princess Diana’s went for at this week’s auction!
Lovely example
