Glad to see the Siryn hands match the DP yellows. I got that figure specifically to use the head for my green Phoenix figure and think the gripping hands will be great to have on DP so she can grab other figures in fight displays. The colors on the original DP release are still better, though, keeping its value intact for me.
I just wished the packaging was more collector friendly, w a closing clamshell, cardboard graphic insert . Definitely agree , maybe a swappable hair (ie:Zarana) for a neutral look , Thanks for the review!
Maybe the colours on the original are better, but this has a way better body. I'll be happy to pick this up at some point. Like Xcorpeo said it'd be great to have more effect pieces and a flaming display stand. Perhaps she'll get a deluxe release at some point.
I slice mine as close to the cardboard as possible with a scalpel. I leave the bottom edge intact along with a cm or two up the sides. You can slide the tray out and back in.
I like your review, but I have a few different conclusions about it, man. I really think that the paint around the eyes isn't particularly good. It's a bit of a mess, sort of in the same way that Madam Hydra's eyes were. I also wish that the red was a darker red so that the yellow bits contrasted more to give it more pop. A little darker red shadowing on the chest legs and arms would have worked wonders, but Hasbro rarely gives us anything much with paint apps these days. Overall, I don't think that this is a bad figure--I really appreciate the new body buck most of all--but it does have a kind of generic look to it. It says "nothing special" to me, and I don't think that's what you'd want to have with a Dark Phoenix figure. Such a figure should make a statement, and have a lot of impact. This really doesn't, and I think that's disappointing. If you missed out on the first one, this one is still a "must have", but I fill like it's yet another lackluster effort from Hasbro.
@@xcorpeo Yeah. It's worth having, but it kind of does seem phoned-in a bit. Hasbro just produces too many figures I guess, because Hasbro commonly never seems to have enough budget for a lot of their figures in a particular line to have paint apps and new tooling. They'd rather give us quantity than quality. That's obvious enough.
red should've been darker, regardless of accuracy, this red doesn't look right with such a bright yellow and with the hair being almost the same shade as the body, it lacks contrast, it's a mess of bright colors without a single thought for aesthetics, makes it look cheap
This is a great review with an awesome recommendation for the hands and removing from the packaging.

A first-rate review of Dark Phoenix and her accessories!

Indeed the Shriek body is fun to handle

I see what you're getting at and I agree. It fills the Dark Phoenix hole in a collection, but does just that, with nothing impressive about it
