    Very cool Craig. Back in the 80’s when I saw the red Ibanez Destroyers and the Icemans in the magazine ads, I wanted them so bad, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford a Gibson Explorer. It wasn’t till later that I learned about the story behind the Chris Holmes Destroyer linked to Eddie Van Halen. Cool story. 👍

    I had a friend back in the day that had an Korina Ibanez Explorer (Destroyer). That gig was as sweet as pie. It made such an impression on me I bought a 2016 Epiphone version of the same thing (which is actually a really nice guitar in and of it's own) in honor of that Ibanez.

    Eddie cut out the bottom of Chris Destroyer that’s why there’s garage door hinges on the bottom holding it together

    • @CraigParkerAdams
      @CraigParkerAdams  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know. I believe so but the covers were taken off from how it looks in the Zlozower photos over at Sunset Sound. I can however confirm that they sound great whatever they are.

      @CraigParkerAdams  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you John! To be honest, no because I haven't been out on the hunt so as to know. It is a very unique guitar to play & so I would say to get an original if you can find one or get the EVH shark because I'm sure it's close, but I can't say for sure because I've never played the EVH shark production models. I've seen the originals for sale used in the 5k range so whatever you decide to do I wish ya luck.

    I don't understand. Eddie used THIS guitar but not his shark guitar? Please clarify.

    • @CraigParkerAdams
      @CraigParkerAdams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When Edward cut out the huge chunk on his near the bridge it forever changed the sound & it lost what it ( tonally ) originally had. So when he went into the studio to record the Women and Children First record he asked Chris if he could borrow his guitar to use since it was the twin to his but tonally still sound.

    • @MrAnthonyC
      @MrAnthonyC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CraigParkerAdams Thank you for the clarification. I am familiar with the story of eddie cutting out the chunk, etc. I just never heard that he borrowed someone else's guitar (twin as you call it) on the record. Thanks again

      Nice video!!! Actually both, Ed's and Chris' guitars were originally korina-colour (dyed Ash actually). Ed painted his white and Chris' painted his red and later added white lines on the edges. There are few 1970s photos of Chris with his Ibanez Destroyer, but I've never seen photo of it with one pick-up 🤔

    how is it wired? Just the bridge pickup direct to volume,then output? The p/u selector togggle isn't there,and you can see there is no wiring in the chanel running to the neck pickup......so is the neck just a dummy or is it wired up through the back cavity?

    • @CraigParkerAdams
      @CraigParkerAdams  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Roger. It was the bridge only from my recollection & the volume knob. When Doug surprisingly offered it to me & dropped it off a week later he said " you're gonna wanna change the strings " . I just plugged it in & everything I could ever want was there. I changed nothing & just played it & wrote & recorded the tune in honor of my favorite EdHead the great Mark Abrahamian (RIP) and just did my best as it relates to his example & the guitar's legacy with Edward & even Chris. I never felt worthy of it even for a second but was honored the entire time that it was in my possession.

    Such a Cool Piece of EVH History and Knowledge and his Tones and playing were amazing on that guitar ….. anyway I have recently listened to you on Johnny Beaned EVH Chat and you mentioned that your friends with Dweezil Zappa , Last month i recently acquired an Amazing and Rare One Off Build Original Steinberger GL3T , and it has Dweezil Written In Ink Under the TransTrem , I have tried to email him on his webpage but haven’t heard back yet ? It seems like he may have ordered that guitar from Steinberger himself ? And maybe he Actually Owned it ? Or just expected the guitar to be free of charge ? And didn’t want to buy it ? I would love to know if he remembers this Guitar and if he has a story for it ? Can you email him or contact him , I can send you a picture of the Guitar , thanks and let me know ….. Great EVH chat by the way , come back soon for more ! Buzz

      is it a full body ( strat esq ) in black & is the writing in either silver or blue? If so it was his & for about a year it was in my possession back around 1991 when he had lent it to me. You're a lucky dude to have it if it is. I wanted to buy it from him myself. If you want you can send photos just go to www.CraigParkerAdams.com & I'll be able to receive em. Thanks Buzz!
