I've always liked Rik Emmett's (guitarist) vocals the best. Gives me those Geddy Lee vibes...💯

Such great hooky tunes but also super rocking with one of the top light shows. Criminality underrated.

Saw them in Providence in 1985 (or 1984), they were fantastic. One of my favorite bands growing up, always been disappointed they didn't have a longer career.

Triumph, Rush, the Guess Who, Neil Young and Robby Robertson placed Canada on the rock 'n' roll Map. But the preceding power trios took it to a different level. Thank you for the great music and blinding light shows.

Who would down vote this for the music or performance? Unless you are offended by Rik's pants/shirt combo, a downvote is just stupid. These guys were great. Only band to play at both US Festivals. They were a Steve Wozniak favorite.

It’s definitely live. But Triumph was notorious for over editing/producing their live footage. It was broadcasted live on Much Music

I love Triumph, but this album Sport of Kings ( supporting Tour here ) was very weak and commercial-sounding. A observation that even Rik Emmett himself conceded years later. They were at the height of their powers around the time of their incredible US Festival performance in 1983. Both in live performance and song/album quality.

The record company made them make it. The real reason they started breaking up

    • @1970borntorun

@@TheScooter1963 Right. It's the classic story where the Record Company wants a "return on their investment". Very few bands were immune to that; by virtue of the quality of not only their songwriting, but also the stubborn force of personality to NOT go Radio-friendly and have the freedom to do what they want Artistically without record label intervention. Bands like Led Zeppelin, RUSH, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, etc. This Commercialization is what killed once-awesome bands like Triumph, Y&T, Pat Travers, etc etc.

I always wondered WTF happened to this band. They didn´t make it really big. I followed ´em in 80s and suddenly they dissapeared. It was the absence of a shocking frontman? Too commercial music? Bad desicions? Weak show?
