    Also, you should have mentioned that if a militaristic city-state has Minutemen for example, that means that the civ that usually owns that unique unit (in this case, America) will not be in the game.

    The easy way to do tourism reliably is to kill the high tourism AI around artillery time, so you get a ton of great works and wonders that way and you reach internet quite early because you are just better at science.

    I run my games with the "smart AI" mod. This mkd is really good. It felt like I was playing against decent enough players. I once almost lost against byzantium because they where actively aiming for a culture victory. Got science victory in time because I was babylon and bulbed up scientists. This mods makes it so the AI tries to actively pursues a certain type of victory

    • @niekesselbrugge1132
      @niekesselbrugge1132 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I should also mention that Byzantium was exclusively declaring war on civs that had a culture that wad too strong for their tourism to take on. Thats how players think. This mod is really good.

    Get the mod for advanced start menu, and play with ruins and natural wonders turned off. There’s also a mod to make pikes upgrade to muskets, and also to move lancers into the cavalry line so it goes knight-lancer-cavalry.

    19:02 Help a noob out. I still struggle with the locations of my expansions. So, that Silver would make a "nice settlement"? But it's literally 4 slots away from the Capital.
    The way I see it, that means 2 things. 1: The capital WILL take it as a Luxury (not that it matters, since there's 3 more closer) even if it cannot be worked.
    2 (and more importantly): 3 tiles between cities? I'm always a bit confused about the "can't build within 4 hexes of another city, I'm like so City-3-City or City-4-City? But regardless. Doesn't that mean that the new city will not expand west? Since, you know, the capital's there and will have already taken it. And with the city-state so close north-eastish, doesn't that mean that border-wise the new city will be pretty much stunted?
    Me, I'd seen that and said "pfft, horrible place". I'm not questioning the expert. I'm just asking for enlightment.

      Four years late to get an answer, but hopefully this is somewhat helpful:
      The idea behind settling the Silver near Sofia is that, when you're playing a "tall" civ like Babylon, you don't need very tile-wide cities since your pop is going to be working your specialist slots to get Great People faster.
      - Your first step is to settle your cap + 3 other cities to eventually utilize a filled out Tradition tree
      - Your second is to build caravans + the ship food building to ship food to the capital so it can grow very large very quickly
      - Your third is to rush specialist slots (preferably scientists as Babylon) to get Great People for either tile improvements or bulbing (if you need something urgently)
      - Your fourth step is to reverse the trade routes to ship food to your outlying cities so they can grow and catch up to your capital
      - Your subsequent steps are to keep cities growing with hospitals and the like so you can continue to accumulate science based on population
      Generally, at higher-level games, you aren't going to be hitting full 50-ish pop cities anyways, so having spare tiles unworked is somewhat of a waste. Settling cities closer toward eachother allows you to improve tiles in one city and then use those same tiles to help propel your other city's growth if necessary; at worst, it just means that you have fewer unworked tiles between the two cities, and a stronger border that you can defend with fewer troops.
      As for settling ontop of the Silver, that's more to make sure those yields are always being worked by the new city + getting the lux online immediately (even if it is a duplicate).
      Hope this helps!

    I don't get it Filthy, seriously I don't get it. When you play on Deity, noone attacks you but when I play everyone is turning to fucking Montezuma. Yes, I do that bribing to other civs to attack another one. But still they keep warring me no matter i do. There is no problem on Immortal but this keeps happening in Deity. pls halp :(

      @Ayberkoski365 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Havnt Yeah that's another fact. Because human players will lean towards spamming ranged units more than just basic melee combat units but ranged unit strengt has almost no effect when compared to melee strength in terms of calculating army score :(
      That's actually one of the things i found very annoying in Civ :P

      @@wasolldas So, cheating. Nice XD

    • @wasolldas
      @wasolldas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tatherwood k, that quicksaving before ruins is actually quit tempting, and I also thought about doing that sometimes :D
      But I don't see it as cheating. Any civilisation, that ever started settling, was nomadic first and new their area around them. They wouldn't just pop into an unkown world, like it is happening in Civ.

    • @wasolldas
      @wasolldas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tatherwood btw try to go for salt and livestock in the beginning, as it is easily upgraded and gives a lot of outcome. Also adapt your religion according to one of these, if you can (mines, or ranches). Don't forget, to declare war on a random city state, steal one worker from them and make peace again

  • @forkevbot

    It makes me feel good that he said winning a culture victory on deity is so hard because I have done it before (no cheating/reloading shenanigans), but I wasn't using NQMod or anything and he seemed to say it makes it harder. Also I was egypt and got really good production luxuries/hills and that wonder building bonus so I got lucky early with a couple wonders and then late game hoarded almost all the good wonders from around sistine onward.
