Have a bunch I've done like James' nice coiled setup. Those kind of coils are easy to do as long as your lay your cables out first and chase out any twisting. Just have to plan our your anchor spots so you know where you can hang the coil. But done well it looks beautiful out in the open.
i didnt see your twitter early enough and im still in the process, but my current setup is on a damn folding table with 0 cable management. Ill be able to finish my hand made desk this weekend!

Having not built a computer in closer to two decades than I'd like to admit, I absolutely could not have taken on the task of tackling a modern build without your videos. 5:20 Just wanna point out to Jay, those were 3 different sized monitors, same 3 in before and after. The 2 flanks looked like they were maybe the same model in 19" and 21" So you can make 3+ different sizes look really good

I definitely would qualify for this theme, I have been using the same desk for like 15 years now. one does not throw out custom built desks when they are still fine.
That last one bugged me because the back of the case with all the wires was visible. Would love to do this, I definitely have a "great" before picture... that said, don't have an after yet.
if i had to place the pc like that, i might make a box out of plywood or something to cover the cables. just have velcro on the case and on the box. and make it shape around the fan so it covers gpu cables and motherboard cables without inhibiting the fan. it would only need to be 3 sides. the bottom and the side that faces the wall can stay open so the psu fan can breath out fine
I'm thinking about buying a flat door and sanding down the sides. From that point I would apply stain and seal it. I think it would look epic. Of course I would buy four legs, pre-drill the holes, and insert the legs. It will probably run around 400 overall to make it. Very easy desk build and it saves you a crap load of money.
I heavily disagree with the first one being labelled "clearly a livestreaming setup" solely because the back being to the wall. I prefer seeing what happens around me (monitors partially blocking line-of-sight notwithstanding) and as such much prefer having my back towards a wall and my eyes towards the room. My setup is similar to that both at work and at home, and though I've thought about streaming, that's never been a concern when placing my desk. Never liked having my back open. I... might've been hit in the head once too many when people have been able to get behind me, I don't know, might be related.
I kinda like having my privacy and people NOT seeing what's going on in my monitor even tho I don't watch anything like ...., So yea I prefer that with covid zoom calls

I'm half way through the drywall right now. I've got nerve damage, so it's a bit hard for me to do it by myself. But I'm getting there.

Jay you really need to look into the EVGA capture card a bit, the only way you could actually game with hdr and etc using through pass through is turning it actually just turning it off. There is a big controversy about it, they even removed it from their webpages marketing (last I looked about 1-2 months ago) eposvox did some coverage on it.

the problem with tightened, sleeved and channelled cables is that althought they look nice, whenever you wanna change or upgrade something it takes an eternity to undo and redo the setup again. this is more for people who either have plenty of time or just set the whole rig up and never touch it again for years.
Been wanting to build my own custom desk for my room for a while but haven't because of Anxiety and covid combined. I'll try to make it as clean as possible but it will be a computer desk as well as workbench (making an L desk) for doing IT and other tech work. My room is only 12x10 so I don't have a lot of space to work with so I'm hoping the bigger desk will allow me to declutter the rest of the room a bit as well as the metal pegboard I'll be hanging above the workbench side.
