Alternative Press i remember watching it on fuse channel when it still played any music video and music related shows and thought how good the song sounded
Back in high-school, I had a rock band and our drummer (also known as our band leader) gave me this song. the first time I listened to this song I just don't like it but I LOVE IT! I play this song with my whole heart until now because it is my favorite song. Also, I've never thought I'm gonna meet Ronnie Winter personally way back in 2014. I'm the Vocalist of the band by the way. I love you, TRJA.
My first time hearing “Face Down” was live when they were just starting out at the Freebird in Jax. I remember going to their shows all the time with a good friend always standing in the very front. Haha. I will never forget those days. They were some of my favorite times.
I heard "Face Down" for the first time the summer before I started high school in 2005. I loved it the moment I heard it. I eventually lived it in college and reverted back to continuing to love it to this very day. Don't You Fake It will forever be my favorite RJA album.
Met Ronnie in '06 at LRS fest in Louisville by accident right after their set, all i had for him to sign was a dollar bill so he signed it and i still have it.
I love how I already loved this song when I was a teenager. But years after, when I actually experienced being mistreated (nothing physically serious, just very bad partner) by an ex, this song just hit differently and became more relatable. It's one of those songs that gets better with time, and you appreciate it more the older you get.
Huge props to these guys for keeping their music tight and meaningful even after being independent. Been a fan since Lonely Road, and I think they are the most underrated band from their era. Yeah, everyone knows their hit songs, but this band is more than just Facedown or Your Guardian Angel. Their name should be up there with bands like The Used, MCR, Underoath, etc.
@@altpress Casting The First Stone is my favorite post hardcore song from them. They got some good pop punk songs too, like 20 Hour Drive, Kins and Carolls, and Home Improvement. Godspeed is my all time favorite song from them. But I think their most underrated record is their Et Tu, Brute? EP.
Jam Rubio Agulto off topic kind of but just to see if anyone feels the same way I do about their song, “Cat and Mouse?” I made my friend in elementary school learn how to play it and during choir if we got the chance to use the piano she’d play it and it was a full on two emo girl bounding experience that the other girl’s in our class just couldn’t understand 🤣♥️
Face down is something I can seriously relate to. It has helped me a lot through out my life and it still does. I have listened to this about 10 times in just the last week. I'm sorry for what you guys have went through, I know it's tough. But everyone can eventually pull through. To anyone that ever goes through this, break the cycle, reach out. Please, pay attention to the signs!!
Man RJA, that was like my band! I remember me and my girlfriend at the time went to one of your shows in ATL and had such a good time. That summer with her was definitely one to remember. I use to just sing with the songs on Am I the enemy album to her out in the backyard(when I use to sing and play) and she just loved it so much. Those were really some good times and I’ll never forget them.
I had the privilege to go see these guys in st louis mo and they were super amazing. This song got me through a lot of my situation with domestic violence and I am proud to say I left. If you are going through domestic violence just know you are not alone and you are stronger than you think you are.
Saw them at warp on the small stage in Ft. Lauderdale before this album came out and it was some girl and I chanting Face down, Face down, face down. They played it 3rd into their set and when they started playing it we sang along the whole way through. He asked how do you guys know this song? He was super surprised lol good show
Saw you live in jacksonville florida and me and my friends love you. Love from the south to a southern brother. I appreciate your words during the show truly inspiring. Thank you man
I'm so glad to see a new interview with RJA and Ronnie, even if its about an old song. Ronnie is such a insperation and I think he is a very interesting guy, interesting things to say. I hope to see more with Ronnie and RJA - talking about their new album for example, or something that would be really interesting that I got fractions of in other interviews is how this new lineup came together. But I am also interested in Joe - he has been with Ronnie in this band since their "breakthrough"... all other members left for different reasons. But he is still here :)
Love you guys .... Facedown healed me... I made a Birthday tribute to RJA.. you guys helped me during the darkest hours... Wlias Reidy helped me too thank you guys you rock🤘
I'm always coming back to this video because I absolutely love how honest, raw, and inspiring their story is. They deserve so much more than any single band I can think of for how powerful "Face Down" is and for all the people it helped heal, including me. God bless and much love! 🙏❤
Very nice video guys. I'm an Emo dude and just found you guys from your song Face Down on the radio. I really love your music. You guys rock. I hope you come to San Diego soon for a concert. I can tell you i will be there for sure. Great job guys. My favorite local band here is Pierce The Veil. You guys are right up there with them in my eye's. :-D
I love you guys so much, I too was around 12-13 whenever I first discovered your band! It hit hard at home for me because still to this day my dads and alcoholic and I was such a emo/scene queen>_< lol middle school times were tough but you helped me release so many emotions then and even now you’re music is timeless so beautiful and love how genuine you all are much love!♥️✨
The first time I heard that song, it was after I heard false pretense. I had just watched the movie never back down and really enjoyed that song in it.
Sir ronnie sayang hindi kami nakapanood sa concert mo sa davao.. hanggang sa panaginip nalang hehe at sa vedio sa youtube nalang kita makikita.. favorite song ko sa album mo... yourgardian angel at cat and mouse...❤
First heard these guys open up for 30 seconds to Mars back in 05' 06' at House of Blues NOLA, and was like man, who are these guys they fricking jam! Damn good sh8
Im currently dating a wonderful woman and she recently got out of an abusive relationship around the middle of 2022 and they were together for 6 years. She had to deal with constant abuse which was mainly emotional which sometimes did get physical and with the stories she has told me, ive never wanted to choke slam someone more. Hearing the sarcastic "do you feel like a man?" Resonated with me on a level i never expected
I was rather super late getting into this scene of music, but I'd say I first heard Face Down back in fall 2018 on a Spotify playlist called "Emo Forever" which also featured songs like I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance, F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. by The Fall of Troy, and Hero/Heroine by Boys Like Girls. I still listen to Face Down today and it certainly holds up as a great song! It's really nice seeing this band in 2019 on AP, too.
It pains me to seem them older now they were in their twenties when I was a kid now I'm in my twenties and their like what in their mid to late thirties now time flies
They love to remind you that they are sucessful, at concerts he will announce "this was number 1 on the charts". Repetitiously. So much that you feel like you're watching someone gloat about themselves. But watching their concert a couple months ago, I was shocked that the crowd was so small. Still, not a bad live performance, just too much gloating.
Older live performances was the huge ones, he probably mentioned the number 1 thing for the new audience or viewers watching the video, but just like any Other band with time they got forgotten. So ofc the live shows are smaller.
I think you might be reading too much into it tbh. He’s just happy with his career, and is nostalgic. He doesn’t seem like he’s trying to be cocky, and gloat.
@@imaginewaffles1318 it's one of his main things to bring up in any conversation or speech. It's the only person I've seen do that. Like they're clawing for relevance again.

The first time I heard face down was on night on the radio bc someone requested it.♥️

Every song on that first record was a banger
Yup still love it 14 years later
That’s not how you use bangers
oh my god yes. its crazy because i love spanish music more than anything but their first album was so freaking awesome
Most deff
He's so well spoken.
he's sound technical (geek) and awesome 😎
In hindsight it’s really mind blowing that a song like Face Down was so big, in 2020 you wouldn’t hear anything like that on the radio PERIOD.
2004 was a very different time. Pop Punk, Alternative and Emo was very much mainstream.
@@FranciscoGomez-dn8py I think it was 2007 it was a hit actually
Ugh the pop/punk rock era was 2000s 20 years ago 😅😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Facedown is still on the radio in 2023
@@CHR1SUND4Y cause it was on the radio before, I meant you wouldn’t hear something new
Met Ronnie in '06 at LRS fest in Louisville by accident right after their set, all i had for him to sign was a dollar bill so he signed it and i still have it.
With the depth he had at 18 it doesn't surprise me he's this articulate and thoughtful now.
Love his honesty. Super thorough. I can’t stand interviews where they pander. This is not one of them.
Jimmy Robinette So pleased that you enjoyed it. 🤘 Thanks For watching!
Can you tell me which bands did that so I can avoid watching their video?

I love how he speaks his mind and no filter. Thank you Ronnie
I share something in common with Ronnie. Lyrics are the main focus and the lyrics are always the first thing that get done

Grim 2.0 is a masterpiece. So is the newest song
I think its because of their live performances.
How articulate he is. Fantastic charisma and honesty. Great interview
I'll never forget how much this band meant to me growing up. A lot of good times with old friends and ex-girlfriends revolved around these guys.
Damn I loved the way the lead singer explained the lyrics and what the band is about. I’m a bigger fan after watching this
Still can't believe that we opened for them back in October 1st in NYC
This band changed my life and got me through really hard times.

He’s so right! That WHOLE album is chock FULL of great songs!!! I still love it hat album!!!
Amazing interview! Bless those guys
The first time I heard that song, it was after I heard false pretense. I had just watched the movie never back down and really enjoyed that song in it.
Their second record is criminally underrated. Maybe not as "post-hardcore" as their debut, but it's a solid rock album.
Lonely road is great album
Am I The Enemy is also an amazing album.
I was in 7th grade when it came out. Grandparents took me to Walmart and bought it for me, along with American Idiot and Offspring's Greatest Hits.
you guys are kickass
❤️❤️❤️ this interview! So honest and down to earth, absolutely one of my favorite bands of all time!!
Still love them to this day!
Went through it also and I'm 36 made me a better man sucks that I had to see that and had to go through that but that's the journey sometimes

Josh Gonzalez 🖤🖤🖤
The way Ronald speaks has this sort of Fred Armisen quality to it
I would give anything I have in my possession for Ronnie to help me with my lyrics on any of my songs
Nice
Who went to the concert last night who liked Rise Up Lights
Don’t You Fake It is still a record I listen to on a regular basis

Dude I’m in my thirties. Time really flies.
Same I bought Lonely Road at walmart with my grandparents back in 7th grade. I'll be 25 in February 🙃
It doesn't slow down. Enjoy it. 🤷♂️
Randy you look nervous bro. Lol. Congrats on the baby. Sure I'll see ya around the Burg.
My mom was being abused by a guy when this song came out...still hits hard.
don't know what it is but when he speaks he reminds me of Brent from Shinedown...maybe his cadence...who knows???
Dude really knows his shit, well spoken af.
Lol so I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say the new album might be called straight into the fire?
Pleads and Postcards is underrated af

What a great fucking attitude this guy has!
Wait is he talking about UAlbany kegs and eggs??!! that would be crazy if that's where he was talking about.
Sick
gua mungkin ga ngerti apa yg dibilang bang ronnie tapi gua suka lagu FACE DOWN... I LIKE IT!
Best band ever
someone know the name of the girl protagonist of facedown video?
Ronnie reminds me of the video of that kid that told off the teacher for not teaching the class right and just handing out packets 😅
God they are old i remeber their baby faces in 2008 lol 🤣
God he’s so cool
waiting for the rest of t he boys to say somehing like....
He could be a politician. He speaks very well
Face Down is a good song but Angel In Disguise is really good too (these are the only 2 I know btw) :)
False pretense is literally the song of never back down🥊
Finally hit a 1000 like mark, I never did that on TH-cam before lol
