    My husband and I started vacationing in Destin in 1998 but have stopped mostly because of the traffic. Way back when it wasn't as bad. This year we r trying a new place out. Hopefully it will be nice as we r staying a month. That's another reason, the prices have gone way too expensive esp since Covid.

    Been Pensacola area for 11 years from Uk - im always looking to move to a more interesting state like Tennessee, but omg the beaches here are stunning and certainly a sticking point. Everything else sucks esp the shopping, landscape, bad drivers, ugly boring homes, etc i got lucky by living creekside but the neighbor kids are wild around here 😅

    Hurians are a issue here in fl ,but the real problem in florida right now are home insurance, business insurance, auto insurance costs,housing prices,it expensive to live here now and with all the people moving here we r over populated with no roads pr highways to be able to keep up, its awful now, takes me over an hr to go 12 miles and i use to be able to do that same drive in about 15 min. With all the extra people moving here crime has gone up, investors have bought houses in normal nice areas and rented them out to trashy people ,ruining the peaceful nice areas. I dont live in the panhandle but its all of florida.

    Got absolutely destroyed by Hurricane Michael. Took everything and forced us to move to south FL, where we got hit by Hurricane Ian. Now I’m Central FL and looking to leave the state. Heard WV is giving $10k to people to move there. They don’t have hurricanes, which is looking appealing right now.

    I've lived in east central FL since '85. I think I agree with maybe 2 of your 12 as something my wife and I think about, prices and insurance. The rest seem to be panhandle issues, not where we live. We've never had hurricane damage except one time in '04, I had my solar panels blown off my roof into my pool from an indirect hit. It was $8900 to repair, all covered by insurance. You guys and southwest FL both seem to get all the direct hit hurricanes. It's like you are Florida's big trailer park. Sure glad we don't live up there in what is basically southeast Alabama 😂😂😂

    Horrible, unskilled drivers. Driver’s education isn’t required or mandatory. Golf carts masquerading as cars on the road. Houses are too close to each other. Bridge tolls are always increasing. Road construction is always done during the day….usually at lunchtime and never at night which would make too much sense. Fault free insurance, even if they’re drunk they usually aren’t punished.

    • @LivingontheEmeraldCoastFlorida

    My husband is considering applying for a position at the shop building facility there. Just wondering if there is anything good about the culture and every day living? I keep seeing videos not to move there.. so weird is it that locals don’t want outsiders or is it really that bad? Drugs, partying, spring break….poverty..

    • @LivingontheEmeraldCoastFlorida
      @LivingontheEmeraldCoastFlorida  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Robin, so I love it here. Yes, there are drawbacks. I set out to let people know all aspects of moving to the Emerald Coast. Often people relocate here after vacationing here and I think you need to be realistic about the market before diving in head first. That and naturally people are more likely to respond to negative headlines so I have to use those to get noticed on TH-cam. Anything nice I have done on the area usually falls flat. As a creator its in my best interest to have to most eyes possible on my content. Unfortunately, much like the news, if it bleeds it leads, so negative headlines garner the most views. I encourage you to watch more of my videos. I have nothing but love for the Emerald Coast but you have to be aware of all the possible drawbacks before making a major life move. I am simply sharing the information I wished was available before we made our move. Best, John.

    Why are you weirded out about picking your trash company.??
    You know that’s pretty common. In many places. Colorado, Arkansas Texas California. This is not unusual. Just depends on the county or city… if the city or country is paying for the waste management or not???
    This is such a weird don’t move here.issue ???

If that's a negative, consider it a positive. I was ducking bullets in Memphis so I am absolutely blessed to be here! 🙏

    WRONG! You missed #1! The panhandle is NOT FLORIDA!
    Why? Two reasons.
    #1: You are HOURS away from any Florida attraction; WDW, springs, Keys, everglades, Kennedy Space Center, palm trees. You name it. When out of state friends and family come to visit, imagine their disappointment in being close to nothing.
    #2: It’s d#m cold in the winter! Many Florida homeowners, including myself, are SNOWBIRDS. We come to Florida to escape the northern cold, as do our visiting friends and family. The panhandle isn’t for snowbirds!
