I wonder if it's a combination of minor sociopathy and religious culture that says 'animals go into the earth' and don't have souls? I can't stand the sight of animal suffering, it just hurts my heart too much.
I love it! Oh how I wish I could live in a place where the deer could come and visit. You and your wife are so lucky, and for them to bring their offspring too! That's amazing. They really trust you!

Einfach wundervoll. Diese wunderbaren Tiere strahlen so viel Vertrauen und Liebe aus, das man sich selbst darin verliert.Es fühlt sich wie reines Glück an.Danke das Sie dies mit uns geteilt haben.
How long it took you to have them trust you and want affection from you? This is just amazing you guys must be the kindest people there is. It's amazing they feel part of your family. I wish i lived like you and have deers be part of my family. Lucky you.
I have recieved your videos for the last four or five years, I love watching them, sharing them, I have had to privelage of petting Deer and other wildlife. Like you I do not approach them, they approached me. I miss that where I live now. :D thank you for sharing.
I really love your videos!! I'm just curious, since you-all have such an un unusual, fantastic bond with these deer, have most of them managed to stay together on your property??
It's a herd, with a herd mentality. As individuals, they pretty much do what they want, and they have their own ideas about who they like to hang out with. There is a definite hierarchy, but it's fluid. Eva is at the top, and a few other females hang out with her. Others may fall out of favor with the matriarch, and form their own smaller roaming groups. They all have individual personalities, and like us, they choose their friends. Those other smaller groups may visit us, but only when Eva is not around.
Hah, that's adorable. My dog does the same thing, so it's interesting to see something similar with wild animals. At my university, we have a Agriculture day where they set up pens and brought animals in from the dairy/livestock and vet school areas. There were calves there and if you scratched/pet them near their tails, they would lean toward you like it felt good. It was adorable.
I found the presence of "heart massage" in the video title to be incongruous with the video's content, since I only knew one meaning of that phrase, which meaning refers to manual stimulation to the heart of a person/animal intended to restore normal heart rhythm (or at least to maintain blood flow for some time).
Language is funny like that. Different contexts have different meanings. In this case, we figured out that the deer, some deer, love to get massaged in that part of their anatomy that is just near their hearts, so we call it "heart massage." Sounded nice, but I admit, if you are used to the medical procedure, you may be confused by the title.
This is so awesome. I have a deer and a baby living in my backyard right now and sometimes she gets close to the house but when i go outside she runs away🙁she’s seen me a few times tho so I feel like maybe today she will let me get close to her🤞🏼these videos are so cool and so calming and addicting.😍🦌❤️❤️❤️
Check out our videos "Fawn Chases a Quail and other nice moments" and "Grooming Our Wild Deer Friend Eva." We use a boar bristle brush, and you are right, Eva loves to be brushed when she is shedding.
Most likely fed and maybe a nice salt lick out nearby...my uncle used to have a small crew like this back in the 90s... He would sit out by the lick with a lawn chair and they come and see him almost daily and do the same stuff heh.
Every night within the last 2 months i have been feeding this one deer behind where I live, I give her apples and pears, I feel drawn to her. Lately after feeding her, she has been licking my hands alot. I love her and I love feeding her. She does display a little timidness and yet she seems to be trusting me. Is her licking my hands, is that i sign that she likes me?
I see that you posted this 3 yrs ago. I hope your deer is still okay and coming to you. There is no doubt that the deer likes you and probably thinks often of you. You are a special girl.
Do you have brushes? You might want to try some good rough brushes, like hard horse brushes, on these animals. I know it works on cows too. They will love you during shedding season.
I encountered a wild deer in Toronto yesterday, and I was really close to in in a backyard. But i didn't want to touch it because... Can't you get lyme disease from petting a deer if it has ticks in its fur??
You can get Lyme disease if bitten by a tick that has the virus. Some regions of the world have ticks that are more infected than others. Not all deer have these Lyme carrying ticks. We've seen a lot of ticks on deer, and we are very careful. Generally, we've found that a tick will not bite you simply because you are near them. The ticks are hungry, and your fingertips are seemingly not as interesting as the soft flesh and forest-like fur of a deer. Marlis likes to pick the ticks off of our deer friend Eva, and Eva seems to really appreciate it, but I wouldn't generally recommend that practice - especially if you don't know the deer!
Plese do not be so cruel for the poor little creatures by picking them out of their deer. They are just trying to survive in the wild. Ticks are living animals too...
Teal, that's like tellling ppl and government agencies not to spray for protect us or yourself from mosquitoes. They're just trying to survive, though thay have killed thousands every year with malaria and West Nile virus. That's taking it a little too far, insect protection? Human pestilence begins with the smallest of creatures.
That's an interesting question. At the very least it means she accepts you, plus she gets a taste of salt. Wild deer react from instinct. Deer groom each other by licking, and it is a sign of acceptance. It seems reasonable that they choose to lick a particular deer, or human, for a reason. There is an advantage to being accepted in the herd. Perhaps she thinks there is an advantage (fruit) in connecting with you. But deer also are sensitive to one's emotions and energy. Maybe she likes yours.
DEAR FRIENDS IS EVERYTHING OK WITH YO ??I WAS WONDERING ALL THESE DAYS WITH THE HORRIBLE FIRES IN LA...IS THIS NORMAL FOR FIRES TO BE BURNING THE WHOLE STATE FOR A MONTH ??? IS THERE SOMEONE WHO IS DOING THIS ON PURPOSE OR NOT ??I HOPE YOU ARE WELL THE POOR DEERS ALSO
Those poor DEER ARE SO THIN:/ How about making sure they get some FOOD out and around your area if no actually in your backyard? They are FAMILY now:-)
A person feels peace that he world cannot give when they have the trust of the deer and other creatures that God made. The deer are looking at the manifestation of God in the people that they are trusting in. The dread of us is not in those deer. It is heaven on earth with sin still being present.
Not to sound horrible...but aren't you the least bit afraid they will become so use to human contact and some @$§₩μθฯ£ of a hunter will take advantage of this?.....I would love something like this, but not at the life of a deer ... I hope I didn't come off as harsh and mean, because I'm not trying too...
In our small area hunting is not allowed and the deer have been used to living around humans for about 40 years since people started building houses here. The females and fawns all migrate around a very small area, all around people's homes in the case of our small group of deer. The bucks go further out and could wander into legal hunting areas, but we've noticed that they mostly pretty cleverly stay in the no-hunting areas during hunting season. Our deer don't have much to fear from humans, but their nights must be pretty scary as we have a lot of coyotes and a few mountain lions. A lot of the deer we've know over the years have scars or missing pieces of an ear from nighttime encounters.
Yeah, so do children. Not much we can do about it. But seriously, they do like to lick us and we like to scratch them. We always wash our hands before and afterwards as a precaution for us and them.
Why anybody would want to harm these adorable and precious animals is beyond my comprehension and understanding.
I wonder if it's a combination of minor sociopathy and religious culture that says 'animals go into the earth' and don't have souls?
I can't stand the sight of animal suffering, it just hurts my heart too much.
It is amazing how much different animals really do enjoy each others interspecies company when nobody is trying to eat anybody.
"when nobody is trying to eat anybody" - that says a lot. I agree.
@Scott History And politics.

Is it okay for them to have those flies on their face? Would it be bad for the deer if you tried to get them away?

Cuz they can.
