Stories like this are so cool to me because they make you realize that the animals with whom we share the planet are no different than we are. They are us and we are them. Just because we don’t communicate on the same level 95% of the time or share the same concerns doesn’t mean that we’re all that different. If more of us would choose to engage and to learn, as opposed to viewing them only or primarily as a source of food or entertainment, relationships like this one would be so much more common.
@@philiptownsend4026 my husband was gored by a goat accidentally on his face, but I'm sure deer are a bit more graceful than goats. The goat felt very bad, you could tell. They were both being clumsy and not paying close attention haha.
@@MermaidMakes I hope your husband recovered and that the goat was forgiven. I'm a city person now living in the country but have encountered goats first hand a couple of times, they seemed friendly and playful but a bit exuberant, like dogs. One time a goat jumped into my car and wanted to settle down in the passenger footwell, it wasn't easy getting the goat out, I think she wanted to adopt us. The goat wasn't homeless, it had human owners. So as you say, it most probably was an accident. I am aware that our cats have good sets of sharp weapons from birth and always respect them, particularly those from feral backgrounds, not quite tame.
@@philiptownsend4026 thank you! my husband is also what I would call a "city person" but with the heart of a country boy, as he took to this life out here in the country where I was raised pretty well, and goats quickly became one of his favorite animals. It happened because he went to sit down on a bench to play with them and one of them jumped up on the bench at the same time and hit my husband square in the chin with his horns on the way up, luckily avoiding any vital structures. He just had a bloody chin the rest of the day. The goats are always forgiven 😆. It was a young yearling goat, so they both learned an important lesson of mutual respect that day!! I think cats are creatures that demand respect whereas with dogs and goats it is easy to forget their sharp parts because of how personable they are until an accident like this happens.

How ever so sweet!!! This lady has dedicated herself to understanding and looking after this baby deer. In her care, look what a gorgeous big boy he has become. She has informed herself, learning all about his species to give him the best care ever. By giving him love, she received love back and became him mum, his friend and his mentor. What a huge privilege she has rightfully earned! They have bonded for life and one day, he will bring his baby to meet his grandma. What a delightful moment that will be for her. May God bless her and this beautiful deer who she has raised. 🦌
Ingemewis As a human, the woman cannot “mentor” a deer, or any other animal species. This animal had to acquire that kind of knowledge from it’s own kind, or follow it’s natural instincts. It is one thing to learn about an animal and how best to care for it, but that is not “mentoring,” which is totally different from caring for and developing a relationship with it.
To ‘K’ I would suggest you read an article by Maribeth Decker called, FROM ANIMAL MASTER TO ANIMAL MENTOR. You see, it is all a matter of how one perceives the role of the human. Luckily for the animals, humans choose to ‘mentor’ them and no longer look down on them as our slaves! Only primitive man would still be stuck in that thinking. Animals today are our companions or our children. They actually soothe our souls. Humans have chosen to be their ‘mums’ or ‘dads’ and openly call themselves that. I do not have a problem with that. I do not subscribe to the ‘master’ attitude. I have animals, I am their mum, their partner, their playmate AND their mentor. Maribeth Decker writes, to this effect, the animals guide us so we can mentor them properly by showing us their likes, their dislikes, their vulnerabilities and so on. For humans, the ‘role’ has evolved to where we look after our animals’ welfare and in addition to loving them, we mentor them. So, to address your ‘objection to using the wrong word’, I would advise you that YES!!! animals have human ‘mentors’. We are no longer their ‘masters’ and thank God for that! This, in no way, takes away from the animals’ birth parents. In the absence of humans, ‘they’ do the teaching of how to fight, to hunt, survival and looking after. It’s always advisable to do one’s research first as one would learn a great deal!
@@ingemewis2043 You have offered nothing more than unqualified, non authoritative, subjective, personal opinion, and it certainly does not emanate from the very highest and supreme source of knowledge, wisdom, and authority that has charged man with dominion over all creatures of the earth. I don’t subscribe to your theory of mentoring animals, nor your abdication of authority and dominion over them. I know that some who have, ended up as animal feed. I have no need nor use for being lectured by the like of you and those who worship at the altar of wildlife. Animals are here, to some extent, as beasts of burden and for the things they can provide for the benefit of man. You and your fellow travelers are not going to upend this natural status of man’s relationship to the other creatures, not even close to any significant degree. You have not altered my understanding of what place animals occupy in this world, and the thought that you or any humans can “mentor” an animal is as nonsensical as the thought that they can become disciples, or even apostles!
@@ingemewis2043 If your reasoning were relentlessly pursued to it’s logical end, animals would qualify for internships in medicine, government, and business; they would be eligible for appointment to the cabinet as department heads-Secretary of the Treasury, Defense, State, etc; National Security Advisor, Chief Economic Advisor; Supreme Court-even as Chief Justice! In fact, one may be nominated for the Presidency! Thankfully, the lunacy will end long before that, though considering the current President, it might not.

It's amazing he knew enough to go home to "mama" when he was injured. She's a lovely woman.
That little squeak is adorable...melted my heart!
The thing that really got my attention and respect was the fact of your awareness that it’s a wild animal, and making a “reasonable sized” enclosure for it to do its things.
That's my sister...a wonderful woman.

I can't remember the last time I smiled throughout every second of a 5 minute video. To be that devoted and attentive to Thor throughout his life is admirable. You have been rewarded for your kindness. It's on your face whenever you're with him. Just a beautiful story. Thor has the best of both worlds because you respected his natural instincts.
I understand u 😘
YOU are a very lucky lady to have Thor and his friends and family to trust you unconditionally. Not many can say that. What a wonderful story....so heart warming!
It's not luck. She earned it.
Dear lady, you have earned your place in heaven for your act of kindness and compassion. What a great story.
It's so heartwarming to hear Thor talking to you. How beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I think this dynamic is exactly how we domesticated dogs and cats.
I couldn’t have said this better. Thor does have an incredible voice and it is so good that she listens 🦌
Imagine if we domesticated deers instead of cats/dogs 🤔
What this woman and her husband did is incredible! Simply wonderful people!
Hi there, how're you?
That one brought me to tears. What a unique gift.
That was a joy to me. God bless that wonderful lady.....and Thor.

Poor mama.. Thor was so desperate out there all alone. What a beautiful bond you two have. You are a very special lady, you gained his trust and let him be wild as he is meant to be. Thor acts like a happy puppy when you call him, how cute! Thank you for taking good care of him, I wish you all the best.
Seeing a wild deer come running at the word "Milky!" just made my day.
Amazing! Every 3 hour feedings are a lot of work. She deserves to be part of the pack.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Soyburglar, excellent comment, keep on Educating !!
I love it when people share how sentient animals truly are. The close proximity of those antlers to her face, though. 😬
There is no danger, they trust each other.
I love goats, and I've always said they are like the dogs of the barnyard animals. Also very clumsy and silly like dogs can be.
This is one of the sweetest relationships I've ever seen! It's truly beautiful and absolutely amazing! It had me in tears knowing and seeing how special this is! Thor loves his mama 🦌 and his mama loves him unconditionally... you guys were meant for each other! Thank you for sharing, I will save this and watch it often 🥰 God bless!
God bless this woman for saving this deer's life and then raising him to be wild and not a pet. Other than cats and dogs, no animal should ever be someone else's pet. By giving him freedom, he chooses whether to return or not, and he always chooses to come back and see his mama and spend some quality time with her. ♥️
A good hearted lady, it’s refreshing to see that’s still around!

Can't you just accept something without this gift from God shit. Is your god sitting somewhere saying "you get something but you don't ". Just grow up.
I just looked up the definition of the word rare. I think this qualifies.
Here it is:
rare
[rer]
ADJECTIVE
(of an event, situation, or condition) not occurring very often:
There are nearly 8 billion people in the world. I don’t know how you are in a position of authority as to the occurrences of a human rearing of a wild fawn but I have to believe if you think it’s unique it is most likely rare. What good comes from parsing words here? Are you an English major looking for a job? Maybe you should open a poem repair shop where people can make use of your giant intellect. 🤷🏻♂️
You are a wonderful person for rescuing him. Now you are part of the herd, that is awesome. You raised him to be free, however he trusted you and came back to help him heal.
To ‘K’
I would suggest you read an article by Maribeth Decker called, FROM ANIMAL MASTER TO ANIMAL MENTOR.
