Absolutely amazing how well humans can live with certain wildlife, even having sometimes having mutual respect with animals thought to be man eaters or vicious predators (of course wild animal are still wild)
I love all animals but deer are just so beautiful. I have a catahoula she is almost 2 years old she was traumatized as a puppy the whole litter was she is so sweet but she will not let people touch her besides me just two other people can she reminds me of a deer at times .nice video thanks for the upload.
I have deer that hang out on my property regularly, but never close enough to touch. I don't feed them or anything. They just like hanging out here. They know I'm not going to be a threat to them, and are pretty chill, as long as there's 20~30 yards distance between us. There was a neighbor who used to feed them, before he passed away. The deer would know it was feeding time, because they recognized the sound of his truck coming up the drive when he was coming home.
I'm surprised that you didn't get negative feed back with this, but I can relate. I too have a local population of deer and for the most part, it's the does that are the calmest around me, but I have not had physical contact. If you have deer, then you probably feed them and if you do, you know about fleas! I put about a 1/2 cup of food grade diatamatious earth in about a gallon of food once a month and that really helps with their flea problem. It really has a dramatic affect and you can tell in a couple of days that they aren't flicking and scratching like before. It's safe and given to horses for the same reason. I also collect apples for free from a local fruit farm (on the ground apples) and they enjoy them.
II wish my deers would do that. I have 6 coming for years every evening to eat, but I can't get very close to them, but it is great just to watch them. They just beautiful and if I am late to take out the food they all standing there looking at my kitchen window until they get their food :) :) :)I love them especially if they have young ones!!!!!
That's so COOL! I'd like to have these guys in my yard. They're all over the place, here in Washington, D.C. In fact, snipers are sent in every year to keep their population down. Is true that they like salt? If so, do you know why?
Great video! I used to live in deer country and sometimes I would come face to face with them on my walks when coming around a bend in the road. When that happened, I found it was always best to avert my eyes away from theirs and show no interest in them. In fact, the last time I did that I walked right passed the deer and then turned around about 25 yards away and saw that the deer had stopped in his tracks and was looking back and watching me walk away. It was almost like the deer was saying to himself, "what the fuk is up with that guy?"
Thank you so much for your video! and thank you for the information about your local deers and the fact they are not hunted where they wander. I was always concerned, when I was watching your videos, if it was not dangerous for them to get accustomed to humans in your garden and then risking to be too familiar with possible hunters. Thanks a million for the explanation! Today, I read that here in France, a hunter got into a private property to shoot a deer who was seeking refuge. www.parismatch.com/Actu/Societe/Oise-un-chasseur-fusille-un-cerf-qui-s-etait-refugie-dans-un-jardin-prive-1376912 Apparently, he went down a garage alley, and they couldn’t succeed in forcing him out. So the article says that the deer was injured, and as he was getting mad, he had become a risk for humans and so, they had to shoot him down. The owner of the property had given the permission. This was so revolting to me and so stupid that I really spent a bad day. How can some humans become so inhuman? And now, I read that a French woman was killed in her garden from a hunter's shot through the hedges... www.thelocal.fr/20171016/french-women-killed-in-her-garden-as-hunters-bullet-flies-through-hedge Thanks a million for your videos! The fence is only in a few places. Most of the yard is open. They like to hang out in the shelter of the fenced in parts a lot of times. It depends on the time of year, and time of day. In the summer, they like to lay under my porch away from the sun. th-cam.com/video/Q4SIczWrpgQ/w-d-xo.htmlm20s

But they quickly forgot that when they felt the supersmooth feathers on their neck. Greetings from Germany
I have deer daily in my yard too. (Columbian Black-tails, like these?) I think I could get some of them this tame too (they are a lot less skittish than the squirrels, who all eat from my hands) but I have thought it wouldn't be safe for them to lose their caution toward humans. But maybe it's okay? The coyotes try to stalk my deer and I think the deer think coyotes are more likely to stay away with humans close by.
