JM, if you consider making an Abysm 3 with all-new content and sold it, I would totally buy it. I recognise how massive an effort that is, but I enjoyed 1 + 2 that much. :) Thank you for these great mods. Hexen done right imho.
If only you switched out the monsters for new stuff, then you could of sold it as a brand new game. Or just relised it as a stond alone game for free if thats your bag.
I would totally buy a standalone version like Hedon did on steam, if you're willing to upgrade to a full standalone version, and I'm sure many others would buy it too! Worth considering.
That was considered post-release, though that will require me to replace a LOT of graphics with original ones and I simply don't have the skills to make new art from scratch. Plus I just love how the mod looks already :D

Check out Wrath of Cronos + Cult of Despair map for Heretic/Hexen/Doom (needs a patch). It's better although I like the linearity of the maps in Abysm.
I've finally got the time to try Abysm 1 like a month ago and I totally enjoyed it. I was curious as to how much I would be waiting for a sequel. These are great news. I would still wait a little more in case there's an update anytime soon, tho.

Wow this is amazing this is a doom mod? just based on npc interactions and models you would think it would use Strife instead but that's actually insane that strife's gameplay elements can be implemented in Doom

I can't describe the magical feeling I felt when adventuring throughout Dark Souls for the first time. I love the fact that other games, especially a Doom mod, are being inspired by its map design.
This is how the sequel of any good game/mod should be: more and better, no need for too many hardcore changes... just more and better of the good stuff.
The very beginning reminded of that one mod where you defend a ship against hostiles, then kill them on the land, so I thought "Is this an update to that mod ?".
I finished it fully a week or so ago, it was fun... tho for some reason the Serpent upgrade didnt do as much damage as i thought it would. Cuz if all the 3 heads hit, you deal like X damage, but if you hit with one you also deal X damage... i dunno if its an error or it was meant to be like that. Also... with the secret weapon you realize the best stats should be for it for the extra MELTING damage. Also a lot of neat references and secrets were REALLY COOL, specially the meat zone, not gonna spoil more.
you should try the DOOM-1 community project (prboom compatible)... it is the first of its kind and it has spawned several spinoffs such as doom-2 and gzdoom-1
Icarus don't hate me but my PC as always sucked well I just upgraded for the first time and really able to try these mods and oh gosh do I love Ketchup MOD and a good minigun/chaingun my god does it dacker up the walls and bathe me in the guts of my enemies it's just so glorious
I agree, the Alchemist needs something unique other than Fantasy Molotovs. Probably something like a really powerful Blunderbuss (kinda like the Blunderbuss in Sniper Elite Zombie Army 4) or a Mortar Cannon.
All of the classes gain access to the same weapons (Aside from melee weapons, and the mages version of the Amethyst wand that doesn't eat up ammo) they just have different starting loadouts and stat alignments. The alchemist can make firebombs because she starts with 5 Intellegence , so he can make them through the ammo crafting system. It's better to think of the classes as "dark souls" style starting characters then anything else, they're not full on loadouts like hexen would do.
This was cool to watch I'm definitely going to have to put this on the list of mods to get just waiting on building my new beast of a pc and going to turn my current pc into a doom mod pc for all things doom and most definitely my wife has to take full credit for that idea just unfortunately her idea means I have to buy and build a new pc which by all accounts isn't a bad thing lol
If you know how to install (and use) any other mod with you source port it can't be much diff. There'd be instructions if they were necessary, or if the DL is a ZIP/etc. package it might be there.
I actually liked the way the music stopped after each boss fight. it was reminiscent of how the music cuts out in dark souls after defeating a boss, almost like the game was saying "boss is dead go home now" overall, really good mod. id like a wider variety of overworld themes, maybe more acts set in different places? and music that doesn't repeat so often, because it sometimes became grating after a bit. oh and also, the spoken main character dialogue ranges from delightfully cheesy to straight up cringy and even annoying in places. i'd seriously tone down the probability of playing voice lines when gibbing enemies.
I dont know about where you all live but, here in Las Vegas driving has become a complete chore due to people driving like idiots. Is it the same in your place of living?
I don't play the first game because the very bad guns, this starts so much better, I don't understand why don't make it more medieval and less magical fantasy, I mean Nocturne in Yellow is so much better mixing bow and mana. I think guns like Metro or Fallout in a VanHelsing style fits Abysm.
Been playing this with turn based mutator and aim assist to make it feel more like a traditional turn based rpg. Wanted the monsters not to collide with eachother to make the combat more fun. But it doesn't seem like that's an option.

The mod looks and executed nice, but isn't there too much ranged weapons and firearms, for a "souls-like" fantasy?
its not really meant to be a souls-like, just simply inspired by it with its world building and level design.

Extract the contents of the zip file, then drag and drop the Abysm 2 pk3 to GZdoom.
