These shots, specifically the ones of that bull looking right at you, are unbelievable. I've been lucky enough to grow up in the area and my dad is actually a professional photographer I've picked up some tricks from, but half the time it's just placing yourself in the right place and getting lucky with the right time. The fall colors mixed with the coloration of the moose are stunning. You know a true artist by the way they can frame and take photos, and those are a few absolute stunners. I also just wanted to say, thank you for showcasing the beauty of this area while also respecting the ecosystem and wildlife simultaneously. We've seen more rise of issues due to tourists just not educating themselves in recent years, so seeing something like this of someone who's just living in the moment and respecting the massive, beautiful creatures in this park is just very refreshing for someone who's born and raised with the Tetons as my backyard. Absolutely amazing videography, storytelling, and photographs. Big ups, and can't wait to see what the future holds!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot. I’m glad you feel the video shows respect for what’s going on in this ecosystem… it really is such a special place. I appreciate you following along, more coming soon!
Yup great images of the Pronghorn, the moose shots and video are so impressive, and your 610 and family images are epic. Wildlife photographers tend to be one of two types; you want an image of a certain critter in a certain scene, much, much harder or you accept that you are on a journey and what you see, and record is what you get, sure you can fine tune it a bit better, but it is the less stressful of the two paths. For a man who is making his major income from selling prints, you need those that are different and special, and I commend you for your passion and work ethic. Once again thank you for sharing your travel and your efforts.
Video was worth the wait sir!!! The bull moose photos along with 610 and others crossing the Snake has to be some of your best photos yet. Thank you for sharing your adventures and knowledge of wildlife with us!!! Epic
it was a great experience meeting you evan ! i met you when i was working at the canyon gas station. very excited to come back hopefully to take better photos i did last year.
Nice to see the nature lovers driving after each other, lol. Just carpool. No, but seriously, nice that you bring that into awareness. From the other side of the ocean it can seem like a lonely hobby or job. Looking at your footage, you are one of a lot of people. Nice to see if I would get the chance to visit. My perspective now has changed because of this. Thank you.
You’re my favorite TH-camr And I’m going to the Tetons and Yellowstone this summer. Can you tell me any good spots to see wildlife like bears? Or wolves.
Thank you! North part of Tetons is better for bears, north part of Yellowstone is better for wolves. Wolf sightings are likely going to be 1-2 miles away through a spotting scope though, unless you get extremely lucky. With that said though, I’ve seen bears and wolves all over both parks, and time of year is huge in affecting where they will be at. What month are you coming?
Looking for wolves, your best bet is Lamar Valley in Yellowstone. I don't know if you're getting a camper, but to stay in the valley itself the only way to do it is with a hard-sided one, so just know that. They're extremely challenging to both find and photograph/video, so don't get your hopes up. I'm a local to the area and have only seen a handful of wolves, so just keep it realistic, but your best bet is Lamar Valley. As far as Bear go, the northern end of the Grand Teton tends to be a great spot to see them. That said, they can really been seen anywhere throughout the park. Generally if you ask rangers or park staff they can at least tell you some locations of more recent sightings as they often have radios of where cars are stopped along roads looking for animals. It also depends on the month you go in. Later in the season, like late fall in this video, is great for bears because they're in that foraging period. Spring (honestly right around now), can also be quite good because they're just waking up. If you go in the middle of the summer (say August), I'd suggest getting into the park near sunrise or sunset for the most action of the animals, as they often bed down and rest in the shade during the day and come out to forage/hunt when the temperatures decrease. Other than that, if you've got any other questions too I'd love to help out where I can.
Mate, Seriously that’s an incredible video. Making videos myself I know how much work went into this. We’ve been following your channel for sometime & really enjoy watching your enthusiasm for wildlife & the quality of work you’re producing, and you’re getting better. Keep up the great work… loved the three bears on the fog image. You earned those shots. All the best from Australia.
Well…IT’S ABOUT TIME! 🤣🤣🤣 Hey brother, good to see you’re back in the groove. Beautiful work as always. Looking forward to the new season. Gonna be fun. 👍🏻👍🏻
😅😅😅 Hahaha, yeah… it is far past time! Thanks for watching Rod, I’m glad you enjoyed. It’s gonna be a blast… hopefully I’ll see you out there sometime this season! 😁
Awesome video and photos Evan! You have inspired me a lot for my photography hobby. And it was a pleasure for me to say hi in person last Autumn when we both taking photos of Bonita in late dusk😊
Fantastic work as always dude. Both the photos but also the production quality of this video. I've had bull moose shots on my mind for a while now, might have to make it up there this fall for it.
Wonderful images and videos. What time off autumn is this?? I am going to Grand Teton and Yellowstone the last 3 weeks in september this year. Hoping to see simular conditions 😀😀🫎🫎
Love your channel. You have a bright future and your passion shows through. I’ve been a landscape photographer for over forty years and have the wildlife bug. A couple questions. I see you use the Canon EF 500mm f/4 and a 1.4 TC. your thoughts on the new Canon 200-800 RF f/9. I understand on the limitations with the f/9 aperture at 800mm. Also are you using Topaz Gigapixel 7 or LR enhance when you just are unable to get as close as you’d like? All the best to your adventures.
This is an awesome trip. Last fall (September) I was in the Tetons for a week with my wife. I was incredibly lucky to spend nearly 5 hours with a monster moose. He didn’t move too far which gave me time to get some incredible shots that I am tremendously proud of. I was also able to see 610 at that same junction you did, but was unable to get good photos of her and the cubs as they passed by quite quickly. I look forward to my next trip to the Tetons (hopefully next fall) to attempt to get even better shots. Keep up the good work Evan, you’re an inspiration and your work improves every time you show us photos and video. L
Thanks so much, I really appreciate the feedback and support. That sounds incredible! Man, it’s always nice when you get a good cooperative animal that allows for some nice shots. I’m glad you were able to experience that. Good luck on your next trip! Maybe I’ll see you out there!
I appreciate it! All over Yellowstone’s northern range is great for wolves. I can’t give you an exact spot because depending on time of year, prey movement, etc they could be anywhere, but between Mammoth and Cooke City is your best chance.
Thanks! The southern part of the park is best, I’d check the Moose area (there’s an area of the park called Moose), anywhere around the Snake and Gros Ventre Rivers as they generally like wetlands.
Beautiful video, well done. I wonder at time stamp 8:12 if the cubs were trying to dig up a ground squirrel or some type of critter. Once they had him then they would fight for the meal. Good job Momma for teaching them well.
Beautiful captures Evan! Curious with your setup what is the max range for wildlife photos? Looks like you were pretty far away for some shots. Keep up the great work .
Thanks! It really depends, some of the wide shots of Blondie with her way in the distance were at 700mm and she was probably 200 yards out. I like to be closer than that if possible though.
The moose in the Tetons are puny in comparison to the ones found in Alaska. I swear I photographed one female that crossed the main road in Denali that was I least 7 feet of the shoulder. Absolutely enormous.
Just absolutely stunning photography! Great job! We’ve been up to Teton/Yellowstone almost ten times and we like to rent a Swarovski scope from Optiks Yellowstone and get pics through the scope with a phone adapter. They aren’t professional pictures, but on a cell phone they look great. Best bang for your buck if you’re just a vacationer wanting to get cool pics. One of the most memorable things we’ve seen is a mother black bear (cinnamon color) with 2 cubs that caught a baby elk on Mt Washburn. Frankly, It was traumatizing to watch because the mother bear was teaching the cubs how to kill, but they just ate on the poor thing until it died after around 30minutes to an hour. Last time we were able to get a glimpse of 2 mountain lion cubs crossing the road around Cody one night, mom must have been off the road. Bucket list sighting for sure, but didn’t get any pictures. Love the videos! 😎
Thank you! The scope option is a fantastic choice… you get much more range with that than with a long lens! Wow, what a couple of sightings! Most people don’t get to see those things. The lions especially… despite the countless hours I’ve spent in the field here, I just saw my first wild lion 2 days ago. They are so very elusive.
@@wattswildlifephoto Glad you got to finally see a lion! We really have enjoyed renting those scopes. I know they offer adapters for professional cameras as well. I’m sure there are big downsides with the scope vs a big lens (like only manual focus), but I’m curious how it would compare with a big lens if you attached a camera like yours, for example, to it. Those things are about the same price as those fancy lenses anyway…..out of my price range 🤣
This may be your best video yet. Absolutely outstanding. I’mplanning a similar trip to GTNP this fall. What would you consider the optimum time to be there? Thank you.
Thank you! Late September into October is best in my opinion. It’s hard to get right though… too early and there are no fall colors, too late and they’re all gone. You have to time it perfectly and it’s hard to predict when that’ll be each year.
Can you please share the general location of ggo in the Teton? Thank you so much. A general location is enough, I would like to put in the leg work, but I have been searching all over the place without luck.
This one I saw in the northern half of the park, but I’ve seen them all over! Anywhere with mature forests with interspersed meadows and low, open perches is good habitat for them.
