Another nice kit to build David built that for Doug Hensley a few years back great kit to build enjoy your best bet when spraying those types of colors is to use a white base primer you can also use red or pink . Im building the Tamiya 1/12 Fairlady 240 ZG for Frank 👍👍
A nice kit and with this color choice its on a good way to become an great model of a Dodge Super Bee. Have a good time with the kit, David. Greetings, Joachim
Great color choice like 70's Mopar color called Banana. I'm trying to psych myself up to do my first model build in about 30 years. Doing a Dodge Demon and planning to paint it a green color close to the 70's Mopar color called Sublime.
I have two of these kits in my stash. I found them at Michaels. They were getting rid of their models. So i end up getting them for $2.99 each. Can wait to see how yours comes out.
I recently built one, used Tamiya Camel Yellow- which ends up pretty close to Butterscotch. My biggest gripe with the kit is using Magnum 500s rather than black steel wheels- which is literally one of the trademarks of the A12 package. Looking forward to your result.
One of my all time favorites that is a great kit I've built three cool unboxing and a great start,, I also like that yellow have a great thanksgiving buddy later Glen
Nice car and a nice kit. Very distinctive body. I like all the extras they put in. Nice recovery on the paint. I don't have any mopars but this is the kind of kit I would like.
Good choice to strip it and repaint. I saw surface differences between the roof and rear deck in the original paint job that would have been a lot of sanding to get even, and the tint variation of color would've still been there.
She’s looking great so far David! Excellent progress and unboxing! Looking forward to the finished product! Due to the cooler temps here, I am taking my time on the VW T3 camper build! Just getting the final paint work done on the side door and then go from there!
Great unboxing, and off to a great start, David!! That kit goes back to '83-84, and that original release (molded in "dayglow blue", if memory serves) was the first full detail glue kit that I ever built (I was 10-12 years old), so it holds a special place for me 😊 I have 3 of this release, and 1 sealed original in my stash. Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving, brother, i hope its a good one ✌️😊
Cool project. It is neat how they still use Monogram on select kits. Why .. or how they choose the kits to be labelled monogram.. I do not know, but maybe on the very Monogrammy kits, like this it makes sense. Any way, neat color choice. That is crazy how the black paint from inside the body impacts the tone of the paint on the outside. I guess if you use that paint again, maybe a white base coat would help.
Looking good. I tried using some of those fluorescent paints in the past. I'm not too sure what to put underneath that paint as a primer to make it look good. Seems like they always have "thin Spots" in them.
Cool kit David. I was just thinking about what to build next and I have a 68 Dodge Charger 2in1 kit and the box is very similar to yours but with Revell where your Monogram is. You’ve inspired me to build that next. The tire sprue is identical to yours but with an additional sprue with 2 rear slicks. I’ll post an intro for it soon. Great start. It’s weird, you really have to prime with a light color under pretty much any yellow. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Happy Thanksgiving.
hi David... looks like you're off to a good start...do you have a special spot you go to when you paint outside?? looking forward to part 2.. thx 4 sharing.. vinny
Thanks Vinny, I spray paint on my patio. This involves a spray down with water to keep the dust down, large panel box to catch the over spray. Preferably low wind conditions. Wind and flying debris are my worst enemies.
Very cool kits… awesome share 👍👍👍
