Good drama arc. In this alternate universe, post-war Britain would have had its streets full of armoured cars in civilian use. The London taxi would look a lot different.

Signal company reduces the time, until a unit can reinforce a battle.
There will always be just as much units fighting, as fit into combat width. if a unit gets dropped out of the fight f.e. because of low morale, an other unit from reinforcment pool can reinforce.
Without signal company it f.e. can happen, that u have 20 units in the same combat, with all good morale, but you loose a battle, because the first 4 units, that have been fighting lost too fast, and the others couldnt reinforce in time.
Also if you send units to a ongoing battle, they will never immidiatly join the battle, they always get in the pool of reinforcment units first.
Armoured Cars are pretty much lighter Light Tanks

A challenge idea for you.
You are not allowed to recruit any new devision only your existing army or new units that come from focus.
Rules: your not allowed to change their type, so u can't make them all tanks or anything so if a units an infantry unit it has to stay infantry unit.
You can upgrade the template tho. So if you play UK the 2 light tank units you get can be made into usable devisions.
Since you did ahistorical uk the ai went ahistorical
Signal companies give u initiative which gives it a high chance to be put in the battle over other reserve divisions so if you want your tanks to be in more often give them high initiative they also help with planing and coordination
Not so much the tanks because they have high combat width usually, but it's especially useful on marines :
There's a meta 10 width marine template that benefits from that since if you don't successfully land you can't just reclick it with the other troops but all of them go back to port. Also low width = greater value from reinforcement rate.
12:20 I'm no hoi4 AI expert, but maybe it saw how well Germany is doing and that you only have 4 divisions that it decided it might have a chance at taking Gibraltar. There is no escape from the wackiness of ahistorical
By the way, Home defense is the historical path for the UK, not Global defense.
Also for future reference the Wiki shows what doctrine paths give what bonuses to both the general army and specific types like armored cars, mobile warfare is the best choice for armored car only.

Yea, "historical" mode has been broken in hoi4 for some time now, with the AI just doing stupid things.
One of the worst ones I've had, is where Russia does the pact properly and takes a bit of poland, but then of course Russia ends up at war with the allies, because poland joins the allies. It's so stupid
There needs to be a Armored car designer, locked to the wheeled chassis and not heavy modules
