It absolutely terrifies me that Cyberpunk will probably go down in history as a forgotten game that will end up in a video like this many years into the future. Yeah, of all the things in this video, that point hit me the most. I still have hope though. I have hope that it won't be forgotten and CDPR will add an official not-jank NG+

I was hoping it would spawn a new eara of clone games I love the cyberpunk aesthetic I'd like to see more like it but with it flopping hard becuase of crunch forcing out an unfinished game everyone saw how unprofitable a cyberpunk game is when all they saw was a good game come out raw

I loved hearing the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack songs in the background. Thinking about that game at all makes me want to play it again! It was so widely despised due to its troubles at launch, but now it's basically a fully polished game, and one of my favorites from the past decade.

      yeah, no it fucking isn't.
AI is still dumber than Bethesda AI (Which is a feat in itself), still no cop chases, NPC's still getting stuck in buildings, etc.

Doom and Quake are still well and alive thanks to very active modding community and modding tools refined over the 2 decades that make creation of new content easy and straightforward.
Unreal Tournament had a great modding scene too, but it declined with the death of several community hub websites.

I remember this one game, it kicked soooo much ass, Undead Knight, where you play a newly resurrected knight and a pair of twins gifted with supernatural powers. You were able to kill and reanimate the enemies in the game to become your own small army of zombies to help with puzzles or to just help overwhelm certain enemies and bosses, it was just so cool! Anyone else remember that or nah?

Absolutely amazing video man, from unreal tourney to quake and deus ex and its multiplayer, some of the greatest games of all time just straight being left in the dust in favour of "live service" games, which to be honest don't feel very alive at all; it's quite surreal to see haha
All that aside, outstanding video looking back on some of the best games I think to ever be released; even looking at some of the newer releases like cyberpunk 2077, a game I think is great and was given one of the worst delt hands in gaming I think I've ever seen, I think it really deserved more

My dad used to be a huge fan of EverQuest. I remember him playing on 2 computers at the same time so he could fill multiple roles if he didn't have enough people for whatever he was doing. I was young at the time and didn't really understand the game so I never really got to experience it myself. I tried to get into it with my dad a few years back but the game just isn't the same anymore. He's cycled through dozens of MMORPGs since then, always up to date and awaiting new releases but he hasn't been able to capture the same feeling since EverQuest. We had hope for EverQuest Next but that unfortunately ended up getting canceled

My most memorable thing about guitar hero was being out drinking one night, with a mate, and him taking a girl home, I ended up crashing on his couch. I dozed off and then shortly after woke up from some peculiar noises, he hadn't cared that he left his bedroom door open (letting you see into his bedroom from the lounge room). He was going hard on guitar hero and her, simultaneously. I went back to sleep, an hour or so later I was woken up by both of them asking me to join in 😆

Games evolve and so do we. In the 90's I started working off-shore and had my Sega with me most of the time. Loved the RTS games but a PC was too heavy to carry around the globe. When the first laptops finaly got affordable we finaly could play a bit of DOOM and Duke Nuke'm at sea.

I 100% agree with the MMO section. MMOs should force players to have social interactions and shouldn't be solo-able, that's the whole point of them. General content(e.g. levelling) should be difficult in MMOs as to build a connection between the players. I play FF11 which is similar to everquest and still gets updates to this day, I recommend it if anyone wants a more old-school experience with a still thriving playerbase

One of my best gaming memories was playing Two towers with friends on ps and pc. And playing Mass effect one thinking how that would be so much more amazing if every squad member was controled by another person.
I really wished outriders would stick the landing. It gave me mass effect 3 multiplayer vibes on a bigger scale.

Best thing to do if you don't have the game/don't have the cable/own an acoustic...
If you want to "play along" to the song in the tab-karaoke format that is Rocksmith... just search for somebody playing the song on TH-cam and play along with it there.
I own all of the above and tons upon tons upon tons of user-created custom DLC songs... and I _still_ use TH-cam as it's much quicker and easier.

My short list of forgotten games:
    Tribes: forgotten aerial shooter
Battle For Middle Earth 1/2+RoTWK. Great RTS's. Not available for purchase any more. Great mods.
    Enclave: action game. Great soundtrack.
^^Armed and Dangerous is similar but more lighthearted if you need a laugh.
    Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
    Current Personal more mainstream Favorites:
STALKER and recent offshoot derivative mods. Atmosphere is perfect.
Far Cry 2. Best Far Cry. Everything else is downhill.
StarWars Empire at War: mods. AoTR/EAWX
    Kingdom Come Deliverance: medieval Cyberpunk.

Some games retain their appeal long after time and technology have moved on, the ability to keep people coming back and thinking about a game is what marks it as a masterpiece. I think we have all found ourselves coming back to very old games, even making a notable effort to make them work on systems decades more advanced than the ones they came out on.

i understand where the video author is coming from with Cyberpunk 2077, there was a game franchise that until very recently almost ended up with a similar fate to these games, and that was MechWarrior, even though MechWarrior 5, MechWarrior Online, and BattleTech are a huge success to the series, there was a time before 2015 where there was absolutely no word on any sequel, and due to an absolute bogus lawsuit the series very nearly faded quietly into the night, if the case wasn't thrown out of court then MechWarrior and BattleTech as a whole would have very much remained dead and abandoned

There´re still rythm games you just don´t need extra equipment for a lot of them anymore, I love Metal Hellsinger an amazingly fun rythm shooter and best about it, even the songs are by famous bands and singers, no metalhead ever heard one of the songs in the game before making it even more intreguing to play.

There were some very old games that were massively multi-player. Empire and Netrek for example both trace code bases back to the 1960s, had player caps of around 40 or more per map. In fact I'm not sure if Empire even had a player cap, just depended on what the game admin decided.
You younguns think you invented computers, but computers have been around a long long time.
