Its also called a variant so technically you can call it both but BLEH (Thanks Iceborne LOL) I keep forgetting that variants and subspecies are two different class of monsters example (Shreking Legiana). Is it just me or does the spawns of the azure rathalos seem pretty rare, I know it’s only just been over 24hrs and they spawn more on the weekend but I’ve been checking religiously and not even seen one on map
Oh yeah they're pretty rare. Just like Black Diablos week and Pink Rathian week. Its super unlikely you will find one unless you get really lucky (I found 2 driving to wrestling practice yesterday LOL)

Special Boost is actually extremely useful on Dual Blades. I'm running Special Boost 5, Skyward Strider 2, Burst 2 on Diablos DB and I can take out 8* monsters with a 7/5 weapon with relative ease using a raw build and not relying on elemental builds. Going to farm up Azure Rath for the coil, so that I can switch out my Anja coil and get the extra crit boost.
But that only applies if you start out with the special skill and pump out another one. It’s a lot of investment for a specific skill that doesn’t benefit you for the rest of the battle. It has uses, but it’s too situational to be high on the attack tier list.
@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS Demon mode builds up special quick. I can get off 2 specials in a long fight, even when I start off with less than half my gauge. While I understand that the special boost benefit is for a single weapon, it shouldn't be discounted either, especially with the amount of damage that the DB special does before the boost.
@@EbiLMunkeY I literally drove from biome to biome non-stop for 11 hours on Monday, and 6 hours on Tuesday morning. Not fighting anything but azures. All in the name of grinding
Azure weapons are dope, at the very least to predominantly replace an all around raw weapon that isn't bblos. Special boost also and amazing skill, especially for slow hard hitting weapons. Also worth noting that some skills like heroics or offensive guard don't multiply elemental damage so this is a very versatile option for general farming and against fire weak. There are many scenarios where this exceeds Rathalos, just perhaps not on paper. Crit boost seems meh fr fr. But for weapons that can't utilise burst efficiently it may be the next best thing. Just with more steps. Many positives here, just a manner of perspective.

If your going raw your better off going after kulu because of the affinity boost and availability. As far as elemental. Rathalos will always overtake Azure Rathalos because the base total is higher. Crit boost isn’t the next best thing because you have to invest in too much to make it effective. Unless affinity is increased using decs/charms/other means crit boost is just a niche chance skill. Burst will always over take it because damage is guaranteed as long as you proc it. Other skills like slugger for hammer and guard for lance aren’t worth losing for crit boost.

Heroics and offensive guard multiply the raw portion of damage. So for weapons like lance, which relies upon counter thrust this makes it a more viable fire weapon than the other one. Barroth lance is the strongest raw lance I think, and azure literally has about 80 less raw. So for classes with no black diablos this could double as an alternative raw weapon too. I'll defo make azure GS! Charge blade is also in the game files. May come next month. And that will rely on guard points making this sort of weapon far more viable opposed to high element low raw. Hopefully decorations etc come in so we can make use of crit boost. I'm hoping we get nargacuga up in here also as Kulu weapons kinda suck not gonna lie.

Yep..kinda had a sense they would do that though. They’ll probably do a new years super boost event like they did last year with azure rathalos and other variants that release this year.

I got 9 azures so far, 1-3 away from getting ny helm to g6. Super excited 😊
