What a fantastic kit.....I think we have to give Miniart credit for the quality of this lit. Regarding the clear parts, I agree with your comments. Maybe this has something to do with fact that they are relatively new into this scale and canopies can be a manufacturing challenge. Not making excuses, but given the recent history, this is a truly amazing product. Miniart are easily my go-to manufacturer these days. I'm sure the next canopy they produce will be perfect
If MiniArt bring out a version with a one piece cowling and improve the canopy and flimsy tail wheel , the Tamiya kit will finally be knocked off its perch . I built the Basic 25RE and it builds into a lovely Thunderbolt, beware though the parts are fiddly in places !
Thanks for your reply Peter. When my dad completed his navigator training in the RAAF during the latter part of WW2 he was given the choice of flying in a Mosquito squadron or a Beaufighter squadron. While he loved the 'Mossie,' he chose the latter and fought in New Guinea aboard the 'Beau,' largely because the Japanese were petrified by the 'whispering death' as it was known given its potency in the ground attack and (especially) anti-shipping roles.
Hi Peter. Those decals bring back a few memories. I made a 1 72 scale kit of this aircraft when I waas young and its markings were 'Tarheel Hal'. The decals were quite difficult to apply but I got them on ok and it turned out real nice. The other P47 I had was the Matchbox one. So I had a Razor back and a Bubble top. That looks like a wonderful kit though. Regards.
Thanks for the Excellent review Peter. I have been trying to decide if I should obtain the basic or the advanced kit. The clear parts are a bit of a deal breaker. Such a shame as the rest looks A++.
Great review. I don't think you are being to picky about the canopy. I'll probably be getting one of these, though I do want to build my standard boxing first, just to make sure I actually enjoy the build before buying another one. The instructions are done that way because the center pages are printed in black and white and the end ones are done in colour, that's why you have one colour scheme at the back and the others at the front.
Same problem that Revell Germany and the red boxed Aifix have, you’re going to have to polish and buff that plastic to make it take a nice metal. I got mine about 3 weeks ago and can’t wait to get on it, but a lot of prep work is going to be necessary to get it to throw back the light for the metal to shine. However from seeing how it looks in the box, well worth the extra effort. Now if they’ll put outa -N version I’ll be one happy man. On a side note, looks like the wife hit ya good on the head there. Try to remember your anniversary next time LOL.
When it comes to the bomber side of fighter-bombers, I'd be interested in your views as to which type proved to be superior in that role in Western Europe; the P-47 or the Typhoon. I suspect that the P-51, P-38, and the Mosquito would also come into the conversation as well. Great show as always, Peter, and I'm still replaying your Eduard Japanese decal debacle whenever I need a seriously good laugh.
That's a tricky one...I suspect in ground attack, the Typhoon was probably superior due to the higher speed, and 8 rockets being more potent than the ones on the Jug, especially against armoured columns...the Jug was probably the better fighter though. As a pinpoint bomber of a specific target the Mosquito was king due to its big bomb load and sheer speed. Other two US planes really stronger as fighters I reckon.
The cannon Ammo will be a bit of a pain as they had a different colour for the tracer shells ever so often so that will have to be taken in to account i would have thought. The parts that need removing for the engine will need drilling out and the fine Tamiya etch saws because i see a lot of people will be thinking there's no way snips will do it. Maybe there is a suggestion in the instructions how to do it?
Hi Peter.have you watch the latest "Table talk" video from Jason over at Model Kit Stuff.....he mentions yourself in it.👍👍👍@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab
I must have missed it, does this plane have the currogated floors, or the non currogated one? It should be the non currogated one. Maybe some after market is in order, cheers.

Many years ago I built the Frog 1/72 P-47D and put those outrageous markings on it!
There was, recently, a real flying P-47 painted like that.

Well, the Tamiya 48th P47 is probably my favorite kit ever but I'm going to have to get this one!😊
Great production! The British used the P-47d Thunderbolt in the Pacific Theater! A neat camo and mkgs. Thanks, KC. CA. USA

Excellent review Peter, thanks. It looks like you get a lot of kit for your money but those transparencies could definitely be better.
Thanks for this!
Mean with their bags you say.... I get the point but oh how I love the noise those miniart bags make... that noise screams quality 👌

nice kit but they need to improve the clear parts, I thought better than the first attempt though

Yes I got a right whack on the head from the cooker-hob hood extractor. Ouch! 😣

A Fair score thanks for the review

Not that I noticed John.
This is where it would be nice to have 3D printed colour ammo.
Top draw review as usual Peter 👍 Another nice kit from Miniart, however the clear parts will need some work I think! 😮
.....наилучшая модель этого самолета!..
Really cool. 🛩👍
Thanks Daniel!

None corrugated in this one. 👍🏻
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab Oh brilliant!!!! That is a stunning scheme I must say. I'm hoping you will talk me out of getting one!!! Lol.

those black gloves creep me out LOL!
Calm yourself! 😜
I guess everyone has their own style 😊
The problem is that when you go crazy on details like this, you have to make sure the fitting is laser sharp. In case of Miniart it far from that.
I'm sure it is a nice kit, but at $75 US MSRP it will just sit on a shelf in a warehouse and collect dust.
