    The Matrix! Very good insight, understanding the theory connects those dots of tuning. I love these kind of videos, always learning something, well done!

    Thank you this has we’re my mind has gone lately how everything works together instead of tuning in blind muscle memory. I still get great results but definitely want to understand better if that makes since.

    How can I tune a return system to a return less system? How do I set my kpa?

    I recently built a LQ4 very mild build as in 243 heads,truck cam, tbss intake, 92mm throttle body, long tubes, full stainless exhaust with mufflers. I am currently running into a issue where I am getting a code for the maf. Could this be due to the tuning? Can I change setting within the maf? I have reverted to buying a new maf at this point thinking it was a issue. Maybe this was the wrong way to go about trying to fix it. Also I can not seem to get rid of a TPS code either. I am starting to think that the throttle body I bought is the issue. I am dumb to this and at a loss any help would be greatly appreciated at this point. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks for the video! Do you do email tunes for people? If not, how would you recommend that I get my, no emissions, 2002 Trans Am with cam, bolt ons and ls6 MAF tuned? Thanks for your time, Mike in DFW

    Wait so if you bump up the airflow , where do o go to bump up the fuel also ?

    Could you maybe explain how MAF, VE and other tables are working under cold start conditions and/or while running in OL? I'm wondering how the ECU is exactly working with those tables before switching to CL/directly after cold start.

  • @mjparker5411
    @mjparker5411 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just checking to make sure I understand what you're saying, if say at a certain airflow you are running richer than commanded you could shift the airflow table down in that area a little bit at a time and it should bring the mix back towards commanded?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, fuel delivery is a calculation of measured airflow, more air, fuel and vice versa

    Any way to explain the steps first to last on how to go about doing a tune, kinda like first where u start and where you finish when making a tune.

    Have you dealt at all with dynamic airflow? I don’t see much information out there regarding it, but it seems like certain situations would benefit from using it vs trying to use just MAF or just SD.

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's just a blend of the two and that is why I suggest you dial in both as they both have a benefit

    Would you not recommend upgrading your maf if u havent upgraded your air intake system all ive done is upgrade my air filter

  • @MALR7
    @MALR7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So by tricking the system in the fuel aspect wont this trick the ecu into thinking it’s making less torque which in torque based systems will cause trouble , like the tcm not shifting how can we fix this ?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can tune around that be watching our spark airmass

    • @MALR7
      @MALR7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Goat Rope Garage what will it benefit by watching the airmass?

  • @JAYR-yh5pn
    @JAYR-yh5pn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stupid question: If you tune the maf do you have to go in and tune the fuel table? Or is the fuel table now like a safety to the maf which I know it kinda is. Like the low octane is to the high if you get some knock ?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which fuel table you taking about Jay?

    • @JAYR-yh5pn
      @JAYR-yh5pn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok I think I figured out what I meant to ask. When in p/e high rpm is it using the maf table for fueling or is it using the commanded in the p/e table. Like let’s say I’m wot and the maf is maxed but I still have some rpm left. You said it starts guessing and drops ms on the injector but what about the p/e table does that get cut?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PE table is a modifier, it uses you're stoich table at all times, then when you achieve the triggers for PE those calculations are applied to your stoich table

    Do you have much experience tuning corvettes? I have a C5 with the 5.7 LS1 in it. I paid to get it tuned after installing CAI, LTH, Catless x-pipe, aftermarket mufflers, a moderately aggressive cam from tsp, chromoly push rods, dual lifter springs, and a high flow oil pump. Anyways, it has serious issues idling if i am going down the road and put it in neutral. It can jump around from 200rpm-800rpm like it’s trying to die, or it can find a fixed spot between 1200-2000rpm to idle at. It fixes itself when stopped and stays around 800-900rpm like it should. I took it back to the tuner and he said everything was fine. I remember he said he did a spd density tune and bypassed the MAF. Could that be the issue?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On a 5th gen Corvette I'm guessing there is some IAC issues send possibly some timing issues that need refined if that is happening. MAF deletes are only common in the 3rd gen world, 4/5th gen motors they do the opposite lol

      Goat Rope Garage thank you! I’ve never tuned before, but I’ve been looking into getting started with it. I’ll look into the best I can using your videos to help. I’m sure you’ll hear from me again with more questions

      Goat Rope Garage I’m struggling to find anything about C5’s and IAC. Only things close to related are saying it’s in the TB, but I don’t see where at all. On another note, I’m not ready to start tuning myself yet, but would it be wise to buy HP Tuners to monitor for diagnostics?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, there is a stepper motor in the side of the TB to control idle. You can data log even with out tuning and better understand what is going on. Got to start somewhere!

      Goat Rope Garage do you know of a tutorial or directions to do it, or is it easy enough that I could probably figure it out without breaking it? I’m very mechanically inclined (installed the cam myself) but don’t have formal education.

    What's your opinion on running a MAF with a turbo? I see almost everyone doing away with it and going speed density. Are there limitations at certain levels of boost?

    • @GoatRopeGarage
      @GoatRopeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Limitation is in the intake duct size, you can exceed the MAF if it's too small but I love the MAF for boost

    I have a question and I figured I should ask you as you know a lot about tuning and that. See I just ordered a new Edelbrock intake manifold and will later be ording a new cold air intake. I was wondering how much it might cost to have my car tuned so it runs properly without risk of engine damage? I know it costs differently everywhere but an estimate would be helpful as I can't find a good enough answer anywhere else

    • @GoatRopeGarage

      $500 is the base rate, might find people who charge less, will for sure find people who charge more
