1999 Chevy Astro power steering pump replacement

- On my 1999 Chevy Astro Van after replacing the hydro-boost brake booster (not shown in this video) I found out that the power steering pump was leaking. This video shows how I replaced the power steering pump and the hoses that connect to it. Flushing and bleeding the system are not covered in this video. I was about to try to attempt to unscrew the hex on the end of the pump shaft. I watched your video and found out all I have to do is just press the pulley off the shaft with the puller tool! Your video saved me from trying the wrong thing. Thanks and God bless you brother
I have looked at various videos on replacing the PS pump. I have a 2003 GMC Safari with All-wheel drive with 155,000 miles. This all started when the PS coolant return line rusted out and busted. The pump, or lines connecting the pump, were leaking also. Decided to replace the lines and pump. First problem was getting the pulley off. I have the proper tool but it would not come off. The flange where the tool clamps on to just rounded off. I ended up taking a cut off wheel and cutting around the shaft to remove the pulley. Hated to to that but... Anyway, now for my question. I have the shop manuals for this van. Manual states: Raise and support vehicle, Remove PS pump rear mounting bracket nut, Lower vehicle, Loosen the ACCESSORY BRACKET bolts and nut. Pull the bracket forward. Remove the PS pump bolts. Remove PS pump and brake booster hose. The booster hose was disconnected at the booster as step one. The "accessory bracket", is that the BIG bracket that the pump attaches too? That bracket also holds the A/C compressor. Unless the compressor lines have some play I don't see how I can move that bracket forward. None of the videos I have watched say anything about moving the accessory bracket forward. Maybe it has to do with this being an AWD van and the others were rear wheel drive only.
that rear bolt is a pain ....a long 3/8 extension with wobble thru the wheel well and 14mm deep socket is the way to go.

How do you hold the pulley still while you use the remover?

Able to get my bad p/s pump out, got new one in place behind bracket. All hose's reconnected can not seem to get my connecting bolts to line up threw bracket to p/s pump????? In your video you did say it took 2 people to line yours up..I checked everything on the new to old pumps b4 install, everything was correct.. have tried many ways and can't get it alone. Any suggestions besides a helper as right now everyone is social distancing.......???? Thanks
Sorry, I missed your question earlier. The notifications don't always flag me properly. It is just such an awkward place to get to. From underneath it was very difficult to put the bolts in, and it was hard to get it lined up if not underneath. I hope you have figured something out. Fortunately, I did not have to do it by myself so I didn't really think about it. The only thing that comes to mind is to get it lined up from underneath and try to clamp it or support the pump to free up a hand so that you could use one to try to get the bolt started.

I can’t figure out why exactly you had to switch the bolts around. Regardless, in the end it wouldn’t have mattered correct? Because you didn’t connect the rear mount. So in hindsight, you could have left it how it was and just attached the 3 front bolts?
Or am I missing something?
Yes, you are correct, I didn't realize that I was not going to be able to attach the rear mounting bolt until after I had done that. So i could have just left the rear bracket off. I switched them around because the bolts on the new pump did not match the pump that was on the vehicle. It must have been previously replaced.

I have problems with my brake pedal it is real hard to press and steering wheel at the same time its real hard to turn what could be the problem?
If you have an Astro or Safari van, there is probably a problem with the hydro-boost system since it is affecting both the brakes and the steering assist. Look for leaks, see if you have any fluid left in the power steering reservoir. I would suggest searching TH-cam for hydro-boost for your vehicle, hopefully that will help. There are some related videos on my channel, if you want to look there. That shows what I had to do to fix mine.
Steering and brakes sounds like hydro boot unit. I had a issue with my brakes not releasing properly and it was the master cylinder. Mine took the 1/2 & 9/16 master cylinder not the 1/2 & 1/2 connections. I never knew there were 2 different master cylinders til this happened. Wanted to share tip..

No you do not need to, I had replaced my hydroboost because it blew the accumulator off. In the course of trying to bleed it I found that the pump was leaking so that is how I ended up replacing the power steering pump.

Thanks for your feedback. I didn't start out with the intention of changing the power steering pump, so I did not film much of the disassembly, or the reassembly for that matter. I figured a little information was better than none.

Revelation 1:14 "His head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; his eyes were like a flame of fire" (in the NRSVCE translation) is an apocalyptic image from John's vision. I would not think this is what Jesus looked like when he was taken down from the cross, but I suppose that is open to interpretation. I would agree with you that God's people don't look like what is described in Rev. 1:14. The definition that I found for iconoclasm is the act of destroying images. I suppose that some people might enjoy it so much that is it kind of like a drug. I am not sure what you mean by inclusion, in today's culture that can mean different things. In your question about Esau, if you are referring to the son of Isaac and brother of Jacob, I am familiar with what it said in Genesis 25-36 about him. I know he is also referenced in other places in scripture as well, not usually in a favorable light.

Revisionist history where some insist that Jews and other middle easterners or even Egyptians somehow we're "black" when all archaeological evidence as well as all historical evidence clearly shows they were Caucasian.
