The only car that I need. Thank you for reviewing these cars. I started watching this channel when I was in Kenya, and now I reside in Melbourne. This channel has become one of my top three favorite channels so far.
Drove the wrong model in my opinion...that's very much a mid range crown, and personally I wouldn't waste your time on a 4 cylinder model unless you literally just want a really nice Camry hybrid 😂. A crown athlete with the N/A V6 would probably be a better starting point. Head out and drive a full fat Majesta Hybrid G series with the 3.5 V6 dual stage hybrid drive train, 0-100 in the high 4 sec range, which is serious performance for a big luxury car and it's then mixed with sub 8l/100km economy...mind boggling stuff. I nearly bought one myself but went with a Century in the end, because well.... life is too short and I needed to experience life as a Japanese CEO, or atleast experience life as his chauffeur I guess as I'm the driver 😂.
There actually wasn't a Majesta in this generation, the closest equivalent was the RS Advance with the 3.5 hybrid. These had a really interesting multi-stage transmission which meant it actually has gear changes as opposed to the eCVT in the previous generation. Testing shows it was capable of doing 0-100 in 4.7sec. This is what I wish Redriven had tested though I understand they can only test what's available at the time.
@@AnthonyMcPhee I think Lexus GS450h had the same drivetrain. It's a true sleeper. Same "hybrid" patch as any hybrid Toyota like Yaris but it really moves very rapid. I've tried to find one in my country but its nigh impossible. They are incredibly rare and very expensive.
I own the V6 variant (RS advance), was deciding between this or GS300H, glad i went with the crown, in NZ full insurance for it is 1800NZD vs 2800NZD for GS, and the infotainment control is so much better than GS. Although it only go up to 15km/L, not sure if its cos of me or the V6, but the car is a head turner for sure, with maxcontact mc6 they are literally glued to the corner.
I delivered this car to Justin and its a great example. I have a Crown Athlete GRS204 and i prefer the NA V6 but for 90% of use the Hybrid 4 Cyl is a great option. Uses half the fuel of my V6 Crown as well.
Absolutely stunning beautiful car,I’ve just sold my 2008 hybrid V6 to a family member basically to purchase one of these at a later date, but I’ll be going for the 3.5L hybrid again
Earlier Crown hybrids do have battery issues which are well-documented in owners' groups. This should have been acknowledged and then a comparison made. It's a great video though... a V6 might be a little tempting. I think this is one of the most attractive modern Crowns, personally.
In Iraq, Toyota Crown models from 2000 to 2016 are imported from Japan in very large quantities. The steering wheel is converted from right to left and its prices in Iraq start from $7,000 to $14,500.
Great car review channel..So many awesome cars to choose from. I ended up purchsing this year a 2018 mazda 6 turbo wagon which is almost half price of this car.. however i was so close to buying a Crown 3.5 hybrid.. also the g70 genesis looks awesome and so does the lexus gsf... why buy a new car
Re: Parts availability apparently the Crown is popular enough here in Australia that our local Toyota dealers will import the parts for you so if you do get stuck trying to source the part via importers you can bite the bullet and pay the dealer markup on them.
Worth noting that the car being reviewed is not either of the 2 top of the line options that are paired a with the 3.5L V6, which has a lot more: a lot more oomph (sub-5sec 0-100), more suspension (adjustable coilovers), more fancy features, and if you get the 2021+ ones - the ones with a single screen - more updated tech: factory Apple Car Play.
I seen one of these identical to what you reviewed in a car crash lst night. I love the crowns so it almost bought up a tear 😢 especially knowing it certainly will be written off with the whole front end caved in.
I saw one for the first time just yesterday. Some idiot blasted past me in driving rain on the motorway. Knew Crowns back in the 80s. It was indeed very Camry-ish.

I have seen a couple of Toyota Crown driving around all together a good looking reliable car and l would buy one of these over the European and South Korean competition
You should talk about rear seat comfort when driving too. I recently sat in the back of a Uber Toyota Camry and I found the rear suspension too stiff over large bumps. In fact, most Uber cars I have been in in the back have had a lack of cushioning on the seats and they are all surprisingly uncomfortable.
