K "I can always tech your throws" Brad
I really hope this helps broaden the FGC. The learning curve for games like street fighter is pretty rough. Having a pro like Kbrad spreading knowledge is freaking awesome!
Kyle c I understand what you mean but crouch teching is a technique made by the players not the develepors they aren't gonna do a tutorial on it
Understanding frame data is part of that huge jump. Combos are one thing but I'm starting to really respect characters with strong normals or have the ability to play mind games. Playing people online is cool but getting your ass whupped IRL constantly by a Justin Wong caliber player also helps. Too bad arcades are dead and there aren't many really active FGC scenes around outside of both coasts.
This is a great tutorial for newer players or players who dont understand frame traps/teching. I learned a couple things. thanks.
Jesus, this guy...When he was crouch teching against K-Brad's fierce...mashing HARD!!!!
Man. I've heard these terms but never fully understood what they were. Thanks KBrad/Gootecks/Cross Counter for putting this up!
Love seeing pros teaching stuff like that. Even though I know it it's Little stuff like that can always take you to the next level. Much love to the pros giving to the community.
True student of the game k brad appreciate u bruh
Wow, I just learned a LOT. Holy crap. This just goes to show how A: worth booking K-Brad is and B: How seasoned of a veteran he is. Awesome video, and thanks for sharing! :]
Mike Ross needs to book some lessons
Oh. So mashing throw while crouching will lay out a wall of light attacks and stop any grab attemps. I learned something new. I can see the usefullness of these training sessions.
Yeah i remember first learning about crouch teching. Are you a new player? Thats rare nowadays.
I'm rather new too and cr teching is new to me.
BarackObamaLikesPoop Cool, did you start when ultra came out?
But like K-Brad says, doing that opens you up to frame traps. Good players will know how to exploit you fully if all you do is spam crouch tech everytime someone is pressuring you. This alone will not suffice at all, and you still need to read, react and adapt to whoever you're playing.
Don't want to face a good Cody and just spam crouch tech, that would turn out very bad.
A good technique is to press tech every time ur opponent hits a button when he has u in a block string...the same tempo as the buttons he is hitting. But also remember that only about 2-3 jabs can be performed before ur opponent has to either move to a different button or throw u...so tech/block accordingly
I think the reason you throw someone out of a short is because the active frames on the short haven't started...which is I dunno maybe 1 or 2 frames
thank you uploading this private session sensei.
Learned a lot.
"Tekken is like, super important" - Kbrad 2014
That guy has a lot of points for someone who can't find his buttons.
That was a great lesson. I'm guessing KBrad can collect all the data he had to teach in this series and format it better for the future.
This goes to show u....points dont mean anything in this game. No knock on him....but he has a decent amt of pts and there is a ton of things that he didnt know about the game and his character. This is good stuff though. Im glad he was able to help the guy out. I remember playing him a few times. Decent player 4 sure.
I think it highly depends on the character you play. This guy plays Dee Jay. His whole Gameplan is to not let you get close. If he played Ryu, at some point he would've wondered why so many people hit with things like: cr.mp cr.mp sweep
Ever tried throwing a B rank gief? Almost none of them know how to tech it.
It's a tarp!
Thanks, now I'll finally get this!
\o>
Yoooo this is a very helpful video!!! love it. would love to see more videos like this from k-brad.
more of these vids!! im learning a lot!
cammy looks like decapre with that jacket LOL
DJ is actually top tier but everyone who plays him have zero tech Kappa
This is great content guys, keep it up!
You get thrown out of your short because you tech too early lol. The most difficult thing is to delay throw so that the short won't hit you (because it's not on the active frames yet, it's still on the 4 frame startup), but it will come out. Making it impossible for your opponent to tech your throw. So basically making your throw connect in that 4 frame window where you opponent is crouch teching. It's even harder when you play someone like Bison/Chun with a 3 frame short.
***** Dark days for Cammy players. rip 3 frame short
damn kbrad u r lettin all the secrets out!!
Sure would be nice if they uploaded training footage or the matches they play
I really like this side of KBrad, I always thought he was a brainless Cammy. I wanna get a private session!
haha nice! great works guys... you'll get it next time ;P I would seriously like to see Combofiend in your ever so excellent adventures :)!
it would be nice if you could see the other players inputs also
You know the video was good when the only problem I have is the fact I came here and saw the video had 666 likes, and I felt bad for liking the video at that point
What are the advantages and disadvantages between choosing to stand tech vs crouch teching? And in what situations would you want stand tech vs crouch tech and vice versa?
And you also don't get counterhit if they frame trap you while you standtech.
+Rick Toni Late, but in addition to not getting counterhit out of stand tech vs crouch tech, if you stand tech you can do it early. If you crouch tech you'll only tech if you press it after they throw. Some people who see their opponent crouch teching with a rhythym like k brad did there will start doing a delayed throw, which will beat it.
Thanks kbrad
@14:59, i thought they added invincible frames to the ex move and starts up in 4 frames. how is he getting hit out of it....
He's 3k+ PP, 10k+ BP, and it's not just the techniques, but @ 13:35 he's not even sure if you can turn on endless meters in training mode and mentions something about his "first time" that I can't quite catch fully.
Normally I don't bother mentioning stuff like this but... How?
This is what u call a casual player. Watching vids of the char and basically copying and pasting. He didnt really take the time to learn how certain things work and the game mechanics. But there are a lot of people like that. Its mind boggling to me as well.
I think he meant it's his first time in online training mode.
CunningGentleman oh ok....yeah u may be right....makes sense
***** 3K is above average, average is around 2K atm, but that will go up once more players come in.
MAybe it’s not his account?. This dude is not a 3k player
I know this stuff, but it's still fun and entertaining to watch!
how do you reach 3.2k pp without knowing about crouch teching
this was pretty good.
someone plz go tell miek russ a deejay that doesnt know what crouch techs are has more pp than gootecks
These are nice and very helpful.
K "The teacher" brad
Wow a lot of people don't know what crouch teching is
I need some frame traps for Yun, Ryu and Bison. I can do crouch tech but I dont know how to counter it. Nor predict that they are going to do a panic move.
Bisons frame traps are his Cr. Fierce and his cr. Fwd....also u can use light sizzors
I dont think Yun has any other than his delayed cr. Strong.....same for Ryu....someone help me out if u know of any. I may be misleading him
BigHern58
Ryu, I think, has his cr. fierce and strong
Yun doesnt really have much. Idk
With yun walk up jab jab step forward a little bit jab jab should work lol
Genisus. Gonna book a session soon. Though i will say give a nigga some warning when you go MLG. Damn KBrad. You like In `n Out Burger son.
This dude paid for this lesson and we just got it free of charge rofllllllllll
Well its a recurring topic from the n00bs of the FGC. He just gave a primer but thing about frame traps is its different for each character in a sense. Smug has been working on his Dudley and its a machine with what he's doing with it in terms of frame trap play as well.
Damn! This shit is good!
So, the backdash escape works or all characters?
mind=blown
Nice nice
I think telling him to mash crouch techs is a little misleading. Tick throwing will beat that still because the light will probably come out first but throwing is faster and will beat it.
But yeah I'm pretty surprised this dude got 3k+ PP with DeeJay without knowing crouch techs. What has he even been doing?
1 round 30secs ? Lol
K-Brad is basically doing an option select, right?
+thoyo A crouch tech is an option select, but that's not what he was explaining in the video. What he's talking about is if someone is spamming crouch tech, you can use a faster attack that beats their crouching light kick. If you play a character that can do a full combo off of that fast attack, you're in for some mad damage and your opponent won't know what the fuck is going wrong because they were taught to mash crouch tech in a corner.
+benblue3 I got it now. thx!
i was gonna say too, how does this guy not know crouch teching, stand teching, and frame trapping >>? didn't even seem like he was acting. cant wrap my head around it...
Wow, so PP/BP literally mean nothing in this game lol. How did he get up there and not know any of this? Especially with such an outside the box character
+Ryan M If you can anti-air and block well, you can get a decent ranking online. Not too surprising.
yea but based on the fundamentals being discussed in the video, it seemed he didn't have much of that knowledge.
Why doesn't someone explain the ability to throw shorts? I'm guessing it has something to do with 4 frame moves?
Two reasons.
Your buttons have priority when hit simultaneously. It goes hk, hp, mk, mp, lk, lp. So if you hit hp and mp at once, hp will come out.
Now with lk and lp, if you hit those while standing, you get a throw since a throw command takes priority, but you can't throw while crouching. So if you crouch and hit lk and lp, lk takes priority and your short comes out. The option select is if someone grabs you while hitting those buttons, it will tech the throw for you.
That's how crouch tech works : ) it's an option select
so does stand tech beat frame traps?
+Mark Smith well. throw startup is 3 frames so if the gap between the attacks of the frame trap is bigger than 2 frames, then it can be thrown.
Yeeaaahhh!!!!! Time to train!!!!!! More blood, more violence!!!!!
um the best
what is dee jay wearing?
Racism.
bobtheman1y lmmfaooooooooo 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
bobtheman1y
Hilarious. I laughed irl:)
Kbrad is awesome but I don't think he does a good job explaining here. If I don't know frame traps already I wouldn't get the whole picture
This is why I cant beat 4000pp players lol they frame trap and know too much technical shit. I just know the basics
Does anyone know why it says gootecks? That's not him. He went to his house to have a lesson? Am I dumb for asking this question?
yes
This dude paid $40 to learn how to crouch tech..........
The thing you gotta keep in mind that alot of new players wouldn't even know to ask what a crouch tech is or what it is used for. Alot of veteran players take basic knowledge for granted but it's alot for new players to take in. 40 dollars really isn't alot if someone is helping you save wasted time practicing the wrong things if you are serious about your hobby
K-Brad touched on more than that, though. He's coaching him on how/when to utilize his character's tools, how to apply them, and even what not to do.
That kind of information is invaluable to someone serious about improving at the game. Time is money; And I know people who've played since Vanilla, but still can't/haven't gotten anywhere worth mentioning in terms of skill.
It's very possible to play this game for years online, watch match videos, see them analyzed, and still not discover HALF of what just one informed person could fill you in on after a FT5 with them at a weekly or major tourney. A fly on the wall at Next Level or Super Arcade probably knows more about SF than many of the online-only players ever will. UNLESS they pay for coaching, like seen above.
I respect it. Though I admit, it doesn't get more basic than crouch teching, so not knowing about that is definitely a bit of a head-scratcher. But he did say (at the beginning) that he hardly ever throws. Which I find even more confuzzling, considering the nature of SFIV, but _would_ explain a lot...

If you read it, I commend you for your attention span.
It's amusing how seriously people take comments on the internet.
Is it weird that I want to watch the rest of this, yet have no interest in DJ?
Not at all
