Very cool stuff. I think this is the kind of tutorial most people around here need nowadays considering "casual" players mostly left the game and we are left as mostly hardcore players. As far as I can see, lots of people have crazy execution, but they have no idea how to do setups or defense. I can say I'm one of them too, I know combos, I know safe jumps, but I don't know when to do what. I mostly attack blindly without considering anything. So thanks for this.
duuuddde that FA Tool is such a godlike app! Thankyou KBrad for mentioning it! Also some really great advice in here on practicing against the most common tactics/moves first! I made the mistake as a newbie (well I'm still a newb.. but less of a newb) of practicing the same one or two combos in training mode for hours on end. Then going into a real match, trying to land that combo, which made my gameplay linear and punishable, which led to losses, frustration and developing bad habits and mentality about how the play the game, about my character etc. Hmm never thought of anti-airs as "punishes", but it makes sense to get used to punishing different characters jump arcs and timings in the same way that you punish any other special or normal moves. coooool =3="
I'm in that same newb category, my friend. One thing iDid learn is try not to punish everything with DP. Depending on the opponent's jump arch could you dp it. If you're using a shoto(ryu, ken etc.) try low fierce.
I don't even play this game cuz im such a heavy 3rd strike player , but this has been very helpful. Brad you break it down so easily! If I were to purchase this , I would definitely be putting those frame advantages and punishes to use for different characters.
I agree. I spent so much time coming up with combos yet in a real match I never get the opportunity to use them. Training mode should definitely be used more for scenarios
I'm super glad I watched this, I've been using FA tool for a few weeks now because I kept getting pressured online by moves I know are unsafe and not having the right punishes, but I didn't know or even think to check for FADC foward dash. Thats one of the nerfs I was really happy to see that I haven't had a chance to capitalize on.
i play it cassualy when i go to my friends house. we are 4 casual players that have absolutely no idea what we are doing. we just press butons blindly and we allways pick random. Its quite fun :D
Question: Confused on one thing, at 8:10 in the video you say one of his EX grabs is one frame. I see his running bear grab EX is one frame, but that isn't the one that hits in the example. In the example you use Double German Suplex EX which is 2 frames according to FA Tools. Am I reading that right? My main reason to point this out is I want to know, do regular throws really beat EX special grabs if they are tied on frames? What about supers and Ultras that grab, I assume they beat special grabs and regular throws.
Ya, kbrad doesn't really know what he's talking about. You're right to point out what you did. You're reading the chart right, the suplex and Spd's are both two frame start up, not one. So Gief being -2 and then doing a 2 frame move leaves him busy for 4 frames while a normal throw being only 3 frames will always win It's got nothing to do with imaginary priority of this over that. It's best to learn data yourself so you don't take on other people's mistakes.
Oh, as as to the other question regarding priority! No! There is no real priority between command grabs and regular throws If they were tied on frames the game randomly selects a winner. Ultra throws and throw immune grabs are exceptions
need help with this choice of getting ultra, is it really worth it, cause i herd some things of their next game omega or ultra.sf4 alpha and it releases soon, maybe idk. also i am getting it on the 360
daaaaaarn too much to learn. I guess Ill just get beat like normal and not complain lol. This game is just too technical sometimes. I will forever remain normal fighter above average never pro. But I work 6 days a week lol
Voltage Vocaloid Frame data is basically data of how fast your moves are and how long they stay active. It'll take a moment to understand the whole concept, but all you need to know is that it's just helpful information to see what moves are fast, how to beat certain moves, and what move should be best used in certain situations. It's fine not to know frame data, in fact some well known players rarely read up frame data to help them improve. But, if you want to fully understand how fighting gamers approach this game, it's best to learn the significance of frames (which only takes a few minutes to learn), so you can get the gist of how these gamers analyze and explain moves. Though, it's perfectly fine to play without reading up frame data.
I mean I know moves counter each other with different characters. But when it comes to frame its another level. I know pro players can react to your characters moves before it even comes out. I am guessing thats how it works.
THANKS so much! Chris, im new to the FGC and am trying to play better. Some of the tutorials i watch use language I dont understand. Do you recommend any sites for beginners that explains some of the lingo i might not understand?
Damn. I was hoping to see Mike Ross in this vid so we could see him remotely be in training mode for once.

'Stop pressing buttons!' ;D
I am still here, giving free BP to the people (not much though).

This is a seriously awesome tutorial, get kbrad to do more of these.

I know ya'll better be filming the next episode of Excellent Adventures!
K-Brad can make anything interesting to watch or listen to.
Love this App. Thanks Goo and Kbrad.
FA-Tool is the beeest! Well I like that official strat guide a ton too, but the FA Tool rocks for pure frame data!
Thanks KBrad!
Amazing! i learned so much. sucks that i'm a newb in fighting games though.
Major thx enjoyed the stream too. :D
After the back dash there's a recovery time which differ depending the character being Dan Rufus and Vega the best ones I can recall from wiki.
This FA tool is mad tech. I just wish I had some offliners to play with locally!
i play it cassualy when i go to my friends house. we are 4 casual players that have absolutely no idea what we are doing. we just press butons blindly and we allways pick random. Its quite fun :D

No!
There is no real priority between command grabs and regular throws
If they were tied on frames the game randomly selects a winner.
Ultra throws and throw immune grabs are exceptions
Splurgendii C You can throw gief out of Ultra 1
Umm...
Unless you're using Abel or using something throw immune
No.. you can't
Goo 'Alfalfa' tecks
It looks like he's wearing a beret.
Alfalfa? could you please elaborate so i can laugh over it too?
Google "Little Rascals, Alfalfa"
best app ever.
i have that APP on my tablet. its godlike
good stuff
dem shiet was a good lesson. thx mr brad
How many frames on that win pose tho.....
need help with this choice of getting ultra, is it really worth it, cause i herd some things of their next game omega or ultra.sf4 alpha and it releases soon, maybe idk. also i am getting it on the 360
Omega will be a new mode inside Ultra, it will be out for free before the end of the year.
alright, thank you
I'm new to street fighter and I gotta know, how do you fight against vega? He's all over the screen and I can't figure out how to touch him??
One thing I learned from playing against him is medium kick in the air knocks him down. Keep in mind I was playing as IBUKI. Note IBUKI!!
You can punish his flying attack with a jumping attack. Just figure out which one it is for your character
A friend of mines also figured out that you can jump hit him out the air. He told me he found that out just today.
By any chance was this video made because of Gootecks' horrible Poison vs. Rufus match?
Spd's are two frames not one
Normal throws are even to command grabs, it's random who wins
Flying Power Bomb
Startup: 1f
Do you even play street fighter?
Romane Graves apparently not haha.
flying power bomb is the walking bear grab
the grab kbrad did in the video was the suplex, that is 2 frames
you''re all idiots
Splurgendii C streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Flying_Power_Bomb
Pls read
God damn, Kbrad, you're charging people for lessons? I guess the struggle really is real.
Meh. Justin Wong still charges for lessons as well and, compared to other FGC mainstays, he damn sure ain't about that struggle anymore.
Wouldn't a piano player charge money for piano lessons?
Kbrad plays this game professionally and knows what he is doing so yeah
daaaaaarn too much to learn. I guess Ill just get beat like normal and not complain lol. This game is just too technical sometimes. I will forever remain normal fighter above average never pro. But I work 6 days a week lol
I'm right with ya dude. I'm pretty good but when they start talking about frame data or whatever you call it I get so lost lol
Voltage Vocaloid It's basic math, bruh.
dogeatbear ......Ok? I don't even know what frame data is so that doesn't really help.....
