    Just remember to be careful! In this video, the weight of the car was on the jack, not the jack stand. Furthermore, the jack stand was extended under the lower control arm with about 2 inches of space. Jacks are not designed to hold weight, they’re just designed to lift them for a small period of time. If the jack were to fail, the control arm would’ve most likely knocked over the jack stand. I recommend using the center front jacking point and putting two jack stands underneath both sides of the car to hold up the front.

      Just did my 2.0T. couldn't get the low profile jack under the car far enough to hit the front jacking point. So I drove it up on very small ramps (~3 inches), jacked the car up and put jack stands on both sides. Honda went out of their way to make this difficult (in several ways). Two panels with two different types of fasteners ...I think 9 all total.

    • @chandanpednekar1041
      @chandanpednekar1041 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this. if he used both jack stands then he wouldn't need to lower the car as the drain pan is angled (observed from the shape shown in video ) so that it drains properly when lifted up from both front sides. Also, its dangerous to remove than jack that way.

    Should be noted that the video description says 2.0 and 1.5 Accord. The oil drain plug is not under the larger cover on a 1.5, the only drain plug there is for the transmission.

    If the car was on ramps angling the car backwards would it not push more oil out considering the oil plug is on the back of the oil pan? Obviously I know when a car is lifted in a shop it’s flat but it just seems like the way that it’s designed it would be good to be able to tilt it like that. Either way I’m sure there is a little residual oil regardless of your method which is fine.

      @@DanVilla7 You should run Amsoil. Mobil 1 is not 100% synthetic. It’s a blend. It has petroleum in it. Amsoil has zero petroleum. Much better for your engine and will keep it clean and sludge free due to its additive package.

    That doesn’t make sense to me. If you use ramps, the oil pan stays level, it is just cantered to the rear, which is good, since the oil pan evacuation hole is at the rear. How is that not better than a jack?

    • @DanVilla7
      @DanVilla7  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get what your saying as far as the oil pan but the oil can pool in the motor alway best to keep flat. Ever see a shop do an oil change with the car not level? Everything is designed to drain when the car is level.
      I personally can't just drive up on ramps the car is too low. I would still need a jack to get it on to ramps

    • @robertwilliams2498
      @robertwilliams2498 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      His car is lowered. So he can't get up the ramps without scraping the front bumper. That is why he uses the jack and then lowers the car to get the oil out and then jacks it back up to finish the job. Good tip on opening the oil fill before draining. Also good to remind folks to save the washer! That engine bay looks pretty clean. I like that.

      Before you buy your supplies I’m gonna give you an industry secret. Mobile one especially the filter is complete shit. And their synthetic oil is actually not a true synthetic oil. The best motor oil to use is Redline synthetic oil, 0-20. And the filter you should always use the Honda OEM oil filter. Also if you ever have to add antifreeze only use the Honda antifreeze. I am not affiliated with Honda nor am I sponsored by them. I used to have an Acura NSX and the mechanic that was working on it had a great insight about Honda products and was heavily involved with the Japanese NSX racing circle. Do your research and you’ll see how much BS is out there.

      I still don’t understand why you don’t like ramps to do this. It causes the car to tilt backwards which helps with the drain of the oil since the oil drain plug faces the back of the car. And it is simpler than using jacks and jackstands.

    • @DanVilla7
      @DanVilla7  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelhughett8396 For an oil change it's not worth all the extra time for me. My car is lowered so I would need really long pieces of wood to get on them or use a jack to lift the car and place the ramps under the wheels. Just too much hassle for such a small job. When I did my downpipe I used ramps well worth it
