    Still think it's awesome that Yzerman came back in.....19.....it's a good omen.
    Seider is going to be a top 2 D man. He had a great year in Grand Rapids. Probably be with Detroit in 2020.

      Christopher Mangels agreed. His highlights video that awood posted is really impressive. Really great stick work a la Lidstrom - smart plays with his stick defensively knocking pucks mid pass away from their intended recipient, and not afraid to throw his body around. Loving what I’m seeing, and can’t wait to see him up in the big leagues.

    • @ChristopherMangels
      @ChristopherMangels 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dannywinter3837 He'll have many opponents kronwalled in the future. The players in the AHL that tried to check him just bounced off. Combined with exceptional composure it's an interesting package. Curious if he makes the team next season.
      And he actually has quite a bit of offense to offer. I saw him last year at the World Seniors where he lit it up nicely.

    I hate Brian Burke... "could have traded down and got him"... Well yeah, but if nobody wants to give you what you want for the 6th pick you can't trade down... they wanted him and he wouldn't be available at 35... they took who they wanted. Good pick 6'4" 208... big guy who is pretty filled out and will only get a bit bigger... he's closer than most of the 1st rounders to the NHL, with exception of Hughes and Kakko obviously

    • @tmanqz

      Sounded like Holland and the Oilers would have grabbed him at #8, if the Wings hadn't taken him at #6. Tough to have a GM two picks behind you that knows most of your org. scouting notes.

  • @ralphjohnrey

    Detroit’s heavy defensive draft this year will force higher compete levels in our defensive prospects for future spots. Honestly I think great picks from yzerman. Very thought out.

    • @ralphjohnrey
      @ralphjohnrey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      They probably would have started a stronger defensive draft last year if it wasn’t for Zadina and Valeno falling onto our laps.

    • @mane4209
      @mane4209 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If that finnish kid from the 2nd round pans out, Detroit has two huge top-4 d-men on the right side. Very important. Looks to me the Wings will want to cash in on Lafrenierre or Byfield. What's the goalie situation? Any high end prospect there too?

    Excited! Kid is arguably the second best D man in the draft. And what I like is he’s already played against men over in the DEL and played well. led all defenseman in points in December/January at the world juniors and played against alot of NHLers again recently a few months back at the world championships He’s not too far from being ready! I think if Byram or Turcotte were there we would have taken them or maybe this was Yzerman’s guy all along. In Yzerman we must trust!

He must know something about what he's doing. Being a fan who knows nothing about researching NHL Prospects, I will trust Mr. Yzerman in his judgment.

Besides the twins in Vancouver Burke’s draft record is awful. Why he’s even still used as an analyst is beyond me. Go wings! I know we've had some issues on the blueline. But I think the situation isn't as bad as most people think. The fact is we have a really good pool of strong D-men in Grand Rapids. And a lot of them are probably gonna be NHL ready this upcoming season. Namely, be on the lookout for guys like Hicketts, McIlrath, Lashoff, and maybe even Saarijarvi. I think the reason we had such a good run at the end of last year was because we had almost half the GR lineup on the Wings bench. I would be very shocked if Hicketts and McIlrath aren't wearing the wings wheel come October.

    Problem is Holland probably had the same info since he was just in Detroit, they pick 8th. 7th OA isnt going to trade up 1 pick.
    They liked this D more than the next available. If they felt Edmonton may take this guy then not worth the maybe 2nd probably 3rd rounder that would have been the ask and the next best D.

      #19=2019 draft, next year they’ll wear #20= 2020. Formula is year minus 2000 😉

      JustInFunProducts no worries, I thought same thing. Just plagiarized a previous responder. Next years draft just won’t be the same, 😂. Justin, how about the numerology on April 19th, 2019, when #19 came home? I’ve not been this excited about this team in over a decade despite maintaining annual subscription to NHL Center Ice.

      * WOLVERINE * agree. I’m actually interested in them for first time in years.

      JustInFunProducts Justin, check out the DSB video I just posted here. It’s awe inspiring and goes hand-in-hand with Detroit Red Wing Hockey.
