I did not watched your video till the end. Did same on my lab and noticed, that PTR is not created automagically. Took me good 1 hour to find info on google, what causes not creating PTR record. Then i watched your video to tll the end, and found, that you covered this in your video from 6:20.... Next time I will watch till the end before try on my lab:) Good videos!
Hi, Thanks a lot for your course I have learnt a lot. At work we are using DHCP a lot for the security as well. This is how :- 1. We can see all the connected clients on Address Lease 2. We add MAC address either allowed or not allowed on filter How do I make my client's IPs to show under my Scope - Address Lease? My address lease is empty and the and client PC is only showing on DNS Forward Lookup Zone
It might possible that those client PC's are using static IP addresses. Otherwise all the dhcp clients information will be available in DHCP management console.
After I implementation of the dnsupdate proxy. the client dns security owner is now the dhcpdns (the user we created for this). Is it supposed to be owner must be the client computer name or not? Before implementation of this dnsupdateproxy the owner of client dns record was 'system'. Kindly advise.
@@MSFTWebCast Hello, one doubt I have google domain and created A record to point to vps IP and working fine, I still did not understand why we need to install and configure DNS in VPS?
Thankyou for the video. I have tried updating the DNS credentials via the DHCP console and also netsh. Console says user name or password incorrect. Netsh comes back with "List of WWW servers available to the client" (although no list shown). Verified account name\password ok. Added account into DnsUpdateProxyGroup. Anything you could point me to that could be wrong here?
If the IP address change on client computer, the active directory and DNS will do the update work. But if you have DHCP in your organization then you need to setup integration between them.

Yes, we can do that but the record ownership will go to that dhcp server and that we dont want. This might create problem if your DHCP server crash and you have to setup another server as a dhcp server.
@@MSFTWebCast You are doing a wonderful job and I have been following you for a long time. If the new server is added to the group, can the new server update the record?

This was just the exact info I was looking for. Thank you for producing this video!
Awesome. Thanks!
Do have any video which demonstrates how to do all of these from scratch?
Which video should I be following before doing this

Awesome lab bro
Hello,
Is this tutorial dhcp capable with vlan implementation?
Adding existing admin user credentials under dynamic update credentials or to this DNSUpdateproxy group is not a good practice or create any issues ?

Good work!!!!!
You have to also configure Dynamic Updates for the reverse lookup zone to be set to secure only (default is None)
Yes..Noted..

By 5:14, you’ve stated the reverse roles to each other (DHCP server vs DHCP client), no?
Does the computer with dhcp on it using the dhcpdns login also have to have dns installed for the dynamic updates to happen?
Very good tutorial thank you
You are welcome!

Is it mandatory to have a domain or a machine connected to domain to update the records from client?

Hi, if i am to install ws2019, do i need to install pfsense firewall on top of my network?
Its up to the organizations requirement.
Why cant we just add the server hostname in the DNSUpdateProxy group?

@@goletest No, thats why i have created the user account for that purpose. So the ownership remains to the user not server.
okk
