- In this step by step guide you'll learn how to install & configure Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) role in Microsoft Windows Server 2019.
Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services is the corner stone that provides Access and Identity Management (IAM), in an on premises Microsoft Windows Server network. We begin by carrying out pre-installation tasks in server manager, which include: configuring a static IP address & assigning the server a host name.
In the next step we install the 'Active Directory Domain Services' role using the 'Add Roles & Features Wizard' and progress to 'promote' the server to a 'domain controller'. We'll add a new 'forest' and choose & specify the 'root domain name'.
We select forest and domain functional levels and automatically install the DNS role, before completing the installation of Active Directory Domain Services.
In the final part of the video, we log into our newly created domain controller (DC) and verify the installation from within server manager.

Hiiii I accidentally install window server 2919 on my laptop instead of virtual machine all I see is black screen is there a way to reinstall server and do it again thanks

Worked well thanks. I also managed to join my client to the domain after watching ur video explaining how to join windows 10 pc to domain. But the problem is that my server and client both can't access Internet now until i set an alternate dns to 8.8.8.8 on client pc only then it can access internet, although it still shows no Internet connection on the bottom right.
Hi, take a look at DNS forwarders (in DNS) on the server in your testing lab.
After watch your video any one can be change their carrier 😉 to IT Field it's so simple and easy to follow as long as person know only English language very easy to understand!

Hi, there are a number of warnings that appear when performing a brand new install of AD DS, for example DNS delegation. This is because the DNS server will be install for the first time during the process. The AD DS install wizard is used for other things also, for example adding child domains to a forest and additional domain controllers etc. It is however important the prerequisites check is successful.

It's not something I've tried, but for a hosted Microsoft solution, Azure AD is another option to maybe look into.
This is really nice and I found it helpful. I will appreciate it if you could explain how to fix the password problem. After including upper case, lower case, symbol, and number I still get an error message that the password doesn't contain the listed items. pls, I need you or anyone here to help me with information on how to fix this problem asap. Can you explain step by step how to add application server roles & feathers on windows server 2019.
Great help and have followed your tutorials 1 & 2 as a IT newbie, and a big thank you. Just a bit worried about going further because Server Manager on my device shows the NIC1 as my static IP address (which is the same as shown in the router GUI, and the same as shown in ipconfig) but when clicking the IP address and going to properties, Network Connections show Ethernet as Disabled and NIC1 as Unidentified network. Is that okay, or do I need to change something?
Hi, clicking the IPv4 address (Ethernet) in server manager will open 'network connections' and display the computer's network adapters. Any disabled network adapters will appear grey and should say disabled. If your test lab machine is a physical one, it's worth checking the NIC drivers are installed and working correctly. It's also worth checking NIC settings using command line with ipconfig /all this will list all adapters and their config. It's important to configure the correct adapter before moving on to install roles like ADDS. Hope this helps.

So just to make sure I have understood, is what you're saying that it does not matter if the computer's network adapter for 'Ethernet' is greyed out, and disabled, like it is in 'network connections', so long as the NIC adapter I have configured has the IP address of the server, which it does, and its IP address is the same IP address that the NIC adapter is showing when I run ipconfig /all in cmd?

Hello! I did de configuration, but after restarting, and logging in with the administrator user, I get a black screen. And in the log in screen, it shows that it is getting no internet.

Hi, you may need to consider adjusting the IP addresses of the test server in your testing lab network. The server IP address will need to be on the same IP range as your router and also the default gateway will need to be configured (router). Hope this helps

The use of unofficial/dummy domain names in production environments is best avoided, they are mostly reserved for testing in a home lab etc. When installing and configuring the ADDS role on a server in the home test lab, check the server host name and the chosen domain name aren't conflicting. Hope this helps.
