I played the Sims 2 DS version for my first sims game and had the same experience because castaway was my second sims game. I still don’t think I’ve played a normal sims game besides the mobile game tbh
Traumatized by this game because I built the hardest mansion you could make once, it took forever, and it burned entirely the same day. Never touched it again.
Yea, the fact that the game had a memory limit per lot, and if you got over it something would spontaneoustly catch fire was bad. Did the same thing has you did, but then had to make my sims sleep on the floor brcause I couldn't put enouth beds.
I played this game religiously as a kid and I still had no idea about the crystal island and contacting the aliens! Early sims games had unmatched amounts of content
yessssss I remember building something in this game but it would take real life hours to be done, so I reset my DS time to a few hours ahead. When I opened the game they put my sim in JAIL for cheating 😭 I remember being so scared 😂
Omg I loved this game as a kid!! I still enjoy playing Castaway as an adult to this day. I love the added survival, exploration and crafting that they did. I could only dream that they'd make another like this! The sims console/handheld games in general are just the best
I'd love to see you play The Sims: Midevil! It was the only spin-off my mom had and, even though it was too complicated for me, I loved the silly vibes
This being the Vampire Diaries cast is what actually makes this your best video yet, Liss. oMg how are the monkeys not fun?! Even in the Sims, Stephan and Elena are and OTP… 🤦🏼♀️
after a decade of having it, althought i only played like 15hours, i discovered that you can’t find other sims on the islands if you only made one sim, YOU HAD TO MAKE THEM!
HELP I COULD NEVER PROGRESS PAST THE BRIDGE EITHER I NEVER KNEW WHERE TO GET I THINK THE LEAVES (vividly remember a monkey once bringing me one and i thought thats the only way to get them but it was so rare i never acc got to the point of collecting enough)
oh my gosh i remember playing this game as a kid! :D Its so weird to think about it, i bought it randomly for 2€ on a market and was so confused the whole time
This is probably one of my favorite childhood games. I’ve been playing it since i was 7 and im 20 now, I was OBSESSED. it’s a very niche sims game that not many people know about? it’s amazing .
So happy youre doing this one! I have such fun memories of playing this at my friends house, both of us having no idea what we were doing but having fun anyway!
Random question, I love how in the sims 2 castaway, their hair (and beard) grows depending on how long the sims have been on the island, which brings me to ask one thing. If the creators knew how to do long hair in the games, why couldn't they make really long hair for each Sims generation? And not just waist-length hair.
its the same reason why we don't have little animations in the sims 4 like opening the kitchen cabinets to take out a spoon, like there are in the sims 2 even though thats nearly a 20yr old game. they're lazy. when ea bought out maxis, the quality of the series went down the drain because at the end of the day they really only care about profit. will wright + maxis made the sims special. nowadays the sims 4 "team" just hires a constant stream of freelancers to come in, do the work as quickly and cheaply as possibly, and then be dismissed while another team is brought on. so essentially this way there's never any "core" team or real improvement/structure. its just become a vapid money making system. also why the EPs in the sims 4 in recent years have been so terrible, but they don't care bc ppl keep buying them.
I was OBSESSED with this spin-off. It was the first game i've ever played on my ps2 thanks to my dad who introduced me to it. I had problems with bullies and sleeping at night and i swear it helped me going through everything. I used to spend so much time playing this game that i memorized every single song that you can hear from the airplane radio. I will always love llamas island🥺❤️
Please do all the different console spin offs. They were my favourite things as a kid and it's so much fun showing them to people. The Sims 2 ds and psp versions are my fav. The plotlines are so insane and wacky, from the ds one where you fight aliens with water guns and can play a space invaders mini game to win biiig money and having to work for a mob boss then the sims 2 psp where you uncover the mystery of the occult and have fourth wall breaking conversations with the antagonist and the connections to the families in the mainline sims pc games is so good!!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have played the Nintendo DS version and it is so different and I found it to be a bit short the game. But this is up my alley I’ll definitely be checking it out.
The Sims Medieval! You can really stir up some drama and it’s more of a storyline but you definitely have more autonomy to pick and choose which direction to take!
I have such fond memories of playing this game as a child even though I SUCKED 😂 every playthrough I got stuck, apparently very early on, where you had to build a bridge and I just never figured out how. Haven't thought about this in years. Don't even know there were multiple Sims ... since I never got so far lol
I had this for the PS2 and me and my mom played it all the time. Those are some of the best memories when I was little of me and my mom and she recently made a save on my PS2 💜
FINALLY someone is talking about this. Everyone always thinks I’m talking about castaway stories but this was its own amazing beast that I adored. I still have my copy and plan to replay it sometime.
omg i have core memories of playing this or something like it on DS as a little kid and i could never get past the freaking peppers part of the tutorial 😭
I bought castaway on wii and that is the ONE game i couldn't beat to save my life but I. LOVED. IT. the survival aspect is what i needed!! the monkeys were my favorite part about it
I remember I played through this right when it came out, and I rented it from Family Video until I beat it (probably took 12 years old me 3-4 days). Simpler times 😭
This game was my childhood! I played the PSP version and it was also my first Sims game. Back then I didn't have a computer that can handle games well so I got to play Sims games on the PSP only. This game also got me into the survival games genre. My PSP doesn't work anymore and I lost my save file for this, but I still remember how my main Sim looked, so I just made her in Sims 4 and am doing an Off the Grid and Simple Living challenge with her instead.
Omg I remember fishing in this game, old memories 😂 I also liked playing sims 3 Medieval, wish sims series gave us more stuff like this to make our game more versatile
this game is imprinted deeply into my brain because when i was seven years old, my family went to the philippines to see family for a month and they let me bring my psp. and the only game on my psp was the sims 2: castaway. so whenever i had nothing better to do while staying at my grandparents house (which was often, with me being 7 years old in a foreign country) i would do nothing but play the sims 2: castaway over. and over. and over again. this is a formitive memory for me
Omg I remember playing this as a little kid and being too scared to farm the liana for clothes because of the scary skeleton in the woods. Was stuck on the beginner island for years because of this reason 😭
Got this after The Sims 2 on console and it was.. weird. It felt like a fever dream, one that both intrigued and confused me. And yet I had so much FUN with it. I distinctly remembe rmaking my 'real' home camp in the area where the plane wreck was, since there was lots of food, materials and water for you to both bathe in and fish from. Good times. Good times indeed. I also liked how it semi-eased you into the game by unlocking your needs/motives over time, so you weren't overwhelmed by them immediatly.
Yay, love that you are playing all of these all the way through. I always wanted to play these back in the day! It’s a great way to experience them through your play throughs, so thank you 🤗
I used to play this but I remember being frustrated when my sims girl kept rejecting my boy sims from getting married. So, I just left her and escape alone😂
Gosh, i played this on the PS2 and before watching this, i would remember (but not fully) of a Sims game where I was trapped on an island but could never remember the name. It honestly felt like a fever dream but it was a great game! Brings back old memories
I had the DS version of this, I got it together with Sims 2 Apartment Pets (also DS) for christmas, I must have been around ten at the time. Those two games were my first Sims games, and I loved them. I bought Sims 2 for pc not long afterwards, and eventually Sims 3, Sims Medieval, and Sims 4. I wish they made another spin-off like castaway or medieval, those two were so much fun!

THE NOSTALGIA!!!! OMGGG!!!! You're a G for playing this classic title Liss!! I remember rage quitting because I couldn't find my fourth crew member. good times
this one is my favorite all time sims game I miss it so much I think about getting another ps2 to play it again I love how different it was and you have so much stuff to harvest so fun
I loved this game so much that it was part of the reason i got a reverse compatible ps3. I continued to play it until probably 2015 or so, where i'd played so much that the loading screens weren't worth it anymore. Something then happened to the disc and i couldn't play it at all anymore. I think i also had it for gba or maybe ds, i can't remember now, but the gameplay was different enough i didn't enjoy it as much. In college, i did end up purchasing a copy of castaway stories for the pc but i was unable to get it to work properly and eventually broke my external disc reader so gave up on that, too. This video is a huge nostalgia hit.
The Sims Medieval is probably one of my top 5 favourite game of all time. I also remember having the Urbz and Castaway on console. I was completely obsessed with the Urbz - it was so cool, I mean the Black Eyed Peas was in it!! 😂 I remember being very close to reaching the top, but it was sooo difficult
Oh this brings back some memories, sorta. I had the PC version, which had a different story and gameplay but the vibes are the same. I honestly want to replay it now
My mom randomly got me this, introducing me to the sims franchise. Imagine my confusion when I played the sims 3
Lmao, I can just picture you sitting there, ‘Wow they finally got off the island, but how?’ 😭
omg i played Sims Medieval before any other Sims games and was trying to find the quests for days!
literally same@ellalagames
It was such a gem I truly didn’t appreciate it when I had a chance

This game unknowingly was the granddaddy of survival games. Many of the mechanics in this game became staple in survival craft games we have now.
Really?! That’s so interesting wow!
Maybe for 3D survival games, Unreal World came out in the 90's and has all the mechanics you expect from a "survival" title but it's just not in 3D.
Sims Castaway and Sims Medieval is among my most favourite game ever. It's unique and still have the sims quirk that we love
Sims 2 Castaways, Sims 2 Apartment Pets and Sims 3 Pets on the DS were my FAVORITE games ever on the DS when I was a kid 😭 I played them SO MUCH
