    Hi guys im a red cross volunteer and wanted to explain the differences between the three.
    Red cross is mainly western nations and other nations that are affiliated with christianity.
    Red crescent is for middle eastern nations that are primarily affiliated with the Muslim relgion ect.
    The red crystal is for asiain nations especially with those related to anything buddism and other asian relgions.
    I hope this helps with any confusion .

      Also, if not religious, why not just use the 3rd - the red crystal - as the only emblem? I know of no religion that uses that. If you want to use the first 2 (cross and crescent), which are religious symbols, you should also include the red wheel (buddhist), red wuwei (the "Pepsi-like" logo/yinyang - tao, etc), red torii (Shinto), red totem (native americans), etc.

    All humanitarian organizations face several problems. One of those is that does it have any relgious significance or not. ICRC does not have any of it. So to prevent future conflicts and conspiracies, they gave nations an option to change logo's as they like while organization remains the same. The Christian countries used cross while Muslim countries used crescent while others used Crystal. But Crystal is no longer in use.

Unlike cross, crescent did not have any kind of holiness in Islam and used rarely until 15th century. When the caliphate passed to the Ottomans, the crescent and star became the symbols of the caliphate and therefore Muslims and Islam. The Caliph is the roughy Islamic equivalent of the Pope. But Caliph's power is only political. Caliph has no religious power and The office was abolished in 1924 with fall of Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans also probably took the crescent and star from the Byzantines. Because the crescent and star was the coat of arms of the city of Constantinopolis. But used extensively by ancient Mesopotamians and Phoenicians by too.

    Sadly, the red crescent has been caught numerous times carrying both munitions and terrorists. They have also refused to treat or transport Israelis injured in terrorist attacks. Their employees have also been caught carrying out terrorist attacks against civilians. The red cross does a great disservice to itself by associating the two as equivalent organizations.

    The Red Cross has copyrighted the symbol of a red cross. This means that you can't use it anywhere at all, without their permission. Even if it was designed many years ago, and should be considered a public domain graphic, you can't use it for stupid and asinine copyright laws.

    • @simonbryon4743
      @simonbryon4743 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It is protected for over 150 years. What other stupid logo that existed before it , and is exactly like it are you refering to? Fucking hell be happy the Red Cross even exists.!

    • @hegpxl
      @hegpxl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The protection is there so people will not associate this/these symbol/s with anything else.
      Take Jolly Rodger for an example. It was the most feared symbol at one time, symbolising pirates and poison. Now it could be found on a children's Halloween costume. Do you still take it seriously? I don't.

    • @DR3ADER1
      @DR3ADER1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@simonbryon4743 One of the oldest copyrights in the UK is a poem called "The Sea Girt Home" from 1859(161 years ago). So the Red Cross isn't unique here. For a charitable organization, they shouldn't need to hold any copyrights at all, as that's mainly reserved for FOR-PROFIT causes.
      I highlighted this because they sued Lab Zero Games over a video game character who just so happened to have red crosses adorned all over her design. If me getting annoyed by The Red Cross being this litigious over something so dumb is in of itself incredibly stupid, then The Red Cross' actions should be equally considered to be as, if not MORE idiotic under the same breath and logic, Simon.

    • @DR3ADER1
      @DR3ADER1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hegpxl It's still stupid because they took legal action. If you're going to take legal action over a symbol, then by that logic, you're taking the use of a symbol way too seriously. Because how many people genuinely give a shit over the way an abstract symbol is used? Not many, I conject.
      All those years spent being the king of virtue-signallers has afforded the IRC with expensive lawyers. Compare that to a then-independent outfit in California that isn't even a big player in the scope of indie games. Let that sink in... They're not Vodafone or Deutsche Bank.

    • @hegpxl
      @hegpxl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@DR3ADER1 I can agree that these matters could've been handled differently, and in no way suggesting that its ok to sue anyone right away - in most cases people who try to use this symbol are trying to signify that its healing or medical involvement etc. - so they can be reasoned with and settle this kind of infringement privately. But they still have copyright to it - and that makes some asshole/s in control of the organisation put the whole group in a bad situation. Like countries, people often forget that people who are in them are vastly different from those who are in control.
      Dont blame the ICRC as a whole - blame the people who are in started this incident. There are many good people in the organisation - but most of them are in the field, and the control is left to those with less than desirable qualities than we could've hoped for.
