Mike passed July 27, 2023. When we recorded this Mike was just out of the hospital in an ongoing battle with illness, having told his doctor he could not miss attending the GSL. We are grateful we could spend this time with him. May his meticulous work, beautiful model, and enjoyment of the hobby be an inspiration to all.
I’ve got a T bucket ready to start. I am speechless at the level of detail in that build. It shows how patience and creativity can combine to be truly inspiring. Thank you for this glimpse into perfection.
Doug. So glad you did a video of Mike's stunning T Bucket. It was great to see it in person. I also had the pleasure of visiting with him about his model at Salt Lake. Ron Butterfield
Hey Doug, l think you should get credit for the amount of times some one watches your videos. I have watched all of your videos 3 times or more. The other day my wife saw what l was watching and said " model car mouse ? " And l said ,this is the best model car videos, bar none !! Thank you for the beautiful cars and build tips .
Such KILLER work.....I'm building a '53 Vickie with the same paint finish that I was going to black out the chrome trim, but now I think I'll do a test piece in brass an see if it works on this car style.....thanks for all the great videos....
Not only a great build, but a fantastic conversation ... one of the many reasons this is a great hobby, get out and share your stories with other enthusiasts.. it is so rewarding and we all love to chat 😎
How can you not appreciate the work that goes into a car like this. Love hearing about the tooling and the use of tools like Bridgeport mills. As a Toolmaker myself and in the trade 28 years I have never made an RC car although, I thought about it a bit. lol Very interesting video. I also look forward to seeing you use that home made tool. ;)
RIP Mike, beautiful art and craftsmanship. No 3d printing here, people try printing themselves into a win but true building and craftsmanship will always have a place in this level of building. Unplug the mouse and get to scratch building

Just read this on a forum when I went to get confirmation on the passing of Donn Yost. May they all enjoy building their works of art in heaven.
I think Augie would be proud, Mike has taken Augie's machining and design work to the next level! Well-deserved win.
Thank you again to Mike for sharing his stunning build with us and for the fantastic gift. I can't wait to use it!
