Freddie Spencer is one of the 5 best riders in the world ever. Nobody did what he did, being champion in two categories in the same season. I'm a huge big fan.
There have been several 2 class GP world championship winners over the years: Agostini 350 and 500 1969, 1970, 1972 Hailwood 250 350 1967 Redman 250 350 1962 Surtees 350 500 1960 also the only man to have won world championships on 2 wheels and 4 Ubbiali 125 250 1956 1960 However I am not taking anything away from Freddie he was the last person to do this and will most likely remain that way as modern riders never seem to contest more then 1 class at a time also he always seem to me to be a really nice guy.
Great to see Freddie! Looks like he's lost a bit of weight compared to a few years ago. I'll never, ever forget seeing him win the '85 British GP in horrendous rain at Silverstone.
legendary fast Freddie. Our héroe in the '80's when we were teenagers riding bycicles! My first G.P was Jarama 1985, his year of the double, he was epic that year...we could not believe the advantage he gained in THE first laps....
FAST FREDDIE !!!!!!!!!!!!! wow, I used to ride cross country for bike week in Daytona but always stayed and watched "The Race" at the speedway, back then, eddie "owned" that race.
@Chris Webb Lawson was a real champion as Spencer was. They fought on the same level. I didn't see anything of what you wrote, but an excellent competition of two big. More, in the rain there was often a third: Christian Sarron.
@@chriswebb1148 Rubbish. Trying to make it sound like Freddie quit because he got beat. His carpal tunnel problems made it too painful to race any more.
@@chriswebb1148 Wrong....don't be such a fan-boy it's embarrassing. Freddie consistently beat Eddie at most venues. I like Eddie, but Freddie was always a bit faster, all things being equal. Freddie did not leave because of Mr. Lawson. Do some real research before you make ridiculous statements.

A real class act. You never got the feeling Freddie thought he was something special. Humility just increases his legend.
Hello from Shreveport! We love you Freddie!
Freddie looks and sounds good here, great racer, always smooth as silk on the bike
Always great humility Freddie that's greater than the titles and what makes you a great teacher on and off the bike GOD Bless you!!!
Ahhh you can't beat the old 2 strokes 👍
Where was Kenny Roberts? Loved watching these guys at Laguna Seca:)

Carpal tunnel issues. Very painful.
