By that time, there was literally no maps across the pacific for first time travellers from Europe, so basically they have no idea how vast the ocean is and the story of Magellan and Elcano were legendary - first, it proves that the earth is sphere contrary to their belief before that it was flat. Secondly, they can reach the spice islands (Moluccas) via West route.

Hate to be that guy, but Spanish and most civilized (at the time) people already knew that the Earth is round. It's already known by Columbus' time, even more so during Magellan's.

China’s Admiral Heung Le had circumnavigated the earth in 1421. In 1430 a Papal Bull was issued ordering imperialist states to “ … xxx go forth ,explore & discover new lands and enslave in perpetuity the inhabitants thereof…xxx” Spain was already engaged in Reconquista, or recovery of Islamic held lands and Magellan pushed out with China’s map in hand.

It really glossed over the atrocities committed by Magellan and many of the first expeditions, as well as the atrocities afterwards duding the colonial period. Same with the Americans(also strange how they completely ignored the Philippine American war, and the Declaration of Independence in 1898).
    “Some abuses”
Really, really stretching the word ‘some’.
Also, the Philippines is a hotspot of influences from America, Spain, China, and native Filipino. On India, there isn’t much, since the influences that connected both countries happened an extremely long time ago, and was part overshadowed by Spanish and else cultures.

@@josephnarvaez9507 yeah that's how he died, hpwever before that he also burned multiple villages and in the aftermath of his death, upon getting word of his atrocities, the natives poisoned his men. Not sure what happened directly after, but his actions would prove a herald of worse days to come under the atrocities of spanish rule.

1:56 "I'm not saying Pre-Colonial Filipino Traditions and Culture are completely gone, but Due to the many centuries and decades of Spanish and American Colonization, American and Spanish Culture and Traditions are in the forefront."
It'd be nice if the Philippines had something similar to Japans Isolationist Period (I'm not saying we should isolate. That's dumb. What I'm saying, is that through the Isolation, the Japanese were able to reinvigorate and strengthen their Culture and Traditions that today, they benefit from greatly like in Tourism for their Soft Power Diplomacy. Rich in culture that attracts both their own people and Foreigners.) I'm saying we as Filipinos need to look "Inwards", Why be preoccupied with American Politics among others when Local Regional Politics and other happenings in the Philippines is more interesting and affects us more directly. The Philippines is RICH in culture, tradition and history. Problem is. The new generation cares more about Japanese Anime, American Hollywood, Foreign Music, Shitty Love Songs, Kpop Drama and Mobile Legends. Filipinos would rather learn about Japanese Mythology than their own Filipino Mythology and Pre-Colonial Religions and Myths and Legends. Heck, an cool Filipino Mythology would be the "Bakunawa" or Moon Eating Dragon, Or Bathala which is basically the Filipino version of Greek, Roman or Norse Pagan Pantheons.
Something that I feel shows how "Unfilipino" Filipinos are right now, is that they'll know more about Foreign Politics like American Politics (American Culture War, Right Wing Conservative Christian Republicans vs Left Wing Liberal Progressive Athiests. Social Justice Warriors and Wokes vs Anti Wokes and Anti SJWs etc etc etc.) than their own Filipino Politics. An big example is "Is Marcos Senior a Dictator? Or is he not?" Many would say in the Mainstream is Yes, He was a dictator who ruled under Martial law for decades.....But, what about his Supporters, or should I call them..."Loyalists", the Marcos Loyalists. Though even at a Young Age, most Filipinos are Indoctrinated to believe Marcos Senior was the Hitler of the Philippines, Many both Old and Young Filipinos still believe or begin to believe the Opposite. The Anti-Marcoses will say it's due to Lies, Disinformation and Misinformation and Fake News........But that does nothing to address why these Marcos Loyalists and Supporters exist...Bro, HIS SON IS NOW PRESIDENT AGAIN. He made history, Marcos Junior made Philippines history as a president who got a Majority Vote that hasn't happened in a long time.
As the saying goes, "A Grain of Truth can Support a Mountain of Lies", but the real question, is who is Lying? Cuz after researching the Anti-Marcos and Pro-Marcos side of Arguments, and also looking at this at a broader scale that includes the Foreign Powers like America, The Marcos Loyalists have a Few Key "Grains" that completely break or make you question the Anti-Marcos Crowds viewpoints and the Mainstream History. An big example is the Claim that the Revolution that overthrew Marcos Senior was "Peaceful", the "Yellow People Power Edsa Revolution", this Claim should not be Understated, heck, the Anti-Marcos Crowd who are named "The Yellow Liberal Party" or "Dilawan" in Filipino, WANT THIS CLAIM OF THAT REVOLUTION BEING PEACEFUL TO BE IN THE GUINESS WORLD RECORD OF "Only Peaceful Revolution that overthrew a Tyrant" and that this should be praised like a GOD. But it wasn't peaceful,
You can find Old News Videos of the same Revolution entering the Malacanyang Palace (The Presidential Palace of the Philippines) and DESTROYING the place. Is that peaceful? And that doesn't account for the riots they caused, burnt buildings and cars etc. But do you know what is Peaceful? The fact that the Evil Tyrannical Dictator, Marcos Senior DIDN'T ALLOW THE MILITARY TO HURT AND KILL TBE THE REVOLUTIONARIES, You can find the old news video of President Marcos Senior denying his General the order to use lethal means to destroy and stop the Edsa People Power Revolt. If Marcos Senior was such a Tyrant, the Hitler of the Philippines.....Why didn't he do something Hitlerian and kill the Revolutionaries? The Bulk of the Philippines Military (Though there were Traitor's that opposed him.) Was still under his control. There were Loyalists.

If that did'nt happen maybe Philippines still holds the name "Tiger of Asia" cause we were the second most powerful country in asia next to Japan . . . 😢 . . . That era was the Golden days but people saw it as a bad thing . . Up until now we still have the man (at age of 98) who new about marcos history.

Are you already alive and experienced first-hand martial law to say those things that are just based on your opinion and not fact-checked?
Were you personally close to the former President to attest that he was not a jerk?
And then, are your sources of such information credible, unbiased, and peer reviewed by actual historians?
If not, then your opinion is just some opinion not based on the whole truth of what happened in martial law and you've just cherry picked on some of the good parts and ignored the other less desirable parts for your narrative that "he was not a jerk".
