Morgan Ash I started that too! We can now have $300 last 2 months for 3 adults. We do a big grocery trip once and then go back to get milk and veggies that don’t last as long.
Same here! It was just for 2 people! I feel so guilty when something gets lost in the fridge or something comes up at the last minute and my meal schedule goes awry and a package of sausage or something goes bad because I didn't get to throw it in the freezer. Or I had another celery perish in the drawer. It's a reminder I take to heart. I did finally get an upright freezer for the garage and it's been a game changer. But everyone once in a while... something falls through the cracks.
One of the reasons I like your channel is that you all like exercise and your family works so well together. It's really nice to see such wholesomeness.
Hey Christine! Awesome video! Absolutely loved and enjoyed it! 😊😊🙏🙏🙏🥰💐💐💐 This video moved me at a whole different level... when you took out the food you had in the fridge, even the little salsa... I have the highest respect for you. If all Americans were like you, so mindful and considerate to use literally every little bit of the food they had bought, there would have been zero food waste in this country. There would be no shortage and hunger. God bless you and your family! It is not just about money. It is the virtue of not wasting any food. 🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
I totally remember those days with the CD player and adapter!! Lol!! We are in Texas. We have been homeschooling for 3 years. I am so GRATEFUL that we can continue and I know it’s a blessing that I can stay home. I know a lot of people don’t have this option. It’s so complicated!
Homeschooling family here thankful things aren’t as drastic a change for us. in earnest prayer for all the families around the world stressing about school this year. Sending love and hugs. 💕🙏🏼
I'm a single guy so I have the problem that every recipe I cook ends up being for 4 people or more so I have to freeze a lot. It's a great way to cook food ahead of time and then eat it when you want it.
Same here! I have no freezer (oh well, as big as one of these lasagna plates.. Legitimately. It's my landlord's fridge, not mine!) so I tend to divide everything by two. I just moved out on my own tough. Guess who had to eat the same dish every single night for four days? So yea... Dividing everything makes it okay.
Other than we simmer the sauce for a lot longer. This is exactly how we make our lasagna. Raw noodles and all. So good. People always think I’m crazy when I tell them my family doesn’t cook them first. It sets up soo much better
We home school our children and I am so grateful for that especially at this time. The school district we live in, will be having school full time with children and teachers wearing mask all day.
i swear, ever since i started watching your videos, i have saved so much food. i used to throw out leftovers after three days so we wasted a ton! which is terrible. lately, if i cook something that i know we won’t finish, i’ll just go ahead and freeze half and honestly it’s the best! not to mention, we’re a week away from having a baby, so now i have a well stocked freezer 🙌🏻🎉 also, i live in georgia and my mom is a high school teacher. the teachers go back this wednesday but they still haven’t decided what to do about the students. so you can imagine their frustration at this point.
I love the fact that you don't waste any food! My mother grew up during the depression and every little bit of food was saved and made into something else. You are way too young to be a depression baby but you have the same values. I love watching you and your family.

Love the disc man reference!! So many kids who don't understand the tough life of the CD skipping. We are in VA and chose virtual learning 4 days a week for 4 hours and then one day of learning on our own. Then the district decide to go all virtual for at least the first quarter. The other option was a hybrid with 2 days in school and 3 days learning on your own at home. Tough time for all areas.
Yasss the tape you have to hook up to your disk man 😂 and nothing worse than a skipping cd 💿 well besides it skipping when I am in the middle of singing 🎤 my heart out😂
Yes the CD with adapter and either the CD visor organizer (that was way too full) or the tiny binder. Being able to just get any music you want in the car now seems bananas.
I use cottage cheese in my homemade Mac and cheese. One pd of elbow noodles One 8oz bag of shredded cheese (whatever favor you like.) One small container of cottage cheese. Mix it all together and put in oven 350 till shredded cheese is melted.

I totally know about cds and tape adapters. Funny story, my 20 year old nephew (I’m 34) was saying how much he loves this song we were listening to last night (waiting for the hurricane to hit Kaua’i... unfortunately, it didn’t). I then go to tell him, the whole tape was good. My husband, who is 41, tells me I surprised you know what a tape is 🤣 As for Hawai’i, most schools are going back August 3rd or 4th. My kids go to a Hawaiian Immersion Charter school and they moved their start date to August 24th. I am fortunate to be able to work at home as long as my work gets done. Truly blessed!
I’m in Victoria Australia, we are in a lockdown at the moment. Only essentials, grocery shopping, exercise with a mask, doctor appt, and work or work from home. Care giving too is allowed. No visitors allowed. Our numbers aren’t high but our government is very committed to keeping the virus suppressed. Only year 11 and 12 are at school. The rest of school is online. Keep up the good work Christine. Your bubbly personality is a tonic.

Oh yes, I remember the record players. My 1st albums I bought were Brenda Lee’s “Comin on Strong” (I think???), (it was the 60’s) & Magic Bus by The Who. Then in the 70’s, they came out with 8 track tapes. Wow, we didn’t think they could improve technology any more! ....and now look how far we’ve come!😂😉😂
Hi Christine. I love the fact that you have your whole family helping you make these meals.. I live in New York and life here is back to normal..or I would say the NEW normal. Our cases are low now (fingers crossed)..We are very careful though...Our school district are planning to open this fall. They are planning to assign kids in pods.. some districts are also cut down the time. I my self go to college and the classes that I signed up were all online. I hope you and your family are safe. Love and Prayers from NY!!!
I absolutely remember the discman with the adapter. It was always the passengers job to hold it just right so it didn't skip on bumps. Also, if it's something I like to eat but don't enjoy making, I do the same thing. I make a ton when I'm making it and then freeze.
That's interesting, I've always done it with béchamel sauce, and never questionned it because my mother used to do it this way too... Isn't it too creamy with cheese ?
I'm 26 but I definitely remember having a disk man cassette adapter for our family car. That car then later became "my" car when I was in high school and through college, so I still had to use a cassette adapter but I moved up to using a cassette adapter with an auxiliary cord so I could plug it into my phone and play music that way!
I seriously want to be Hailey when I grow up. She is so happy go lucky and just an absolute joy. BTW I'm over 40 so I should be growing up anytime now. "Fingers Crossed"
I’ve never been more happy to be child free in my life during these crazy times. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with my work (I’m a med lab technologist in a hospital so obviously I’m still working and essential) and figure out what to do with kids who can’t go to school.
I have 2 high schoolers and our schools are doing zoom full time this school year. The kids are very much depressed about it and wanted to go back to school. Shelves at the stores are slowly dwindling again. We are in DE and I anticipate a full shutdown this upcoming fall. Great video, I hope you and your family stay safe and keep making those sweet treats because they boost morale.
We just cleaned out our fridge of all the little dibs and dabs of stuff that accumulates for some unknown reason...partial bags if shredded cheese half a container of sour cream and partial boxes of pasta equal homemade mac and cheese/ a pound of cooked ground beef and 47 partial bags(not really but you know what i mean) of frozen veggies equals vegetable beef soup...my fridge looks kinda empty now but i am glad none of that food was wasted We are soon to be empty nesters (3 kids all grown up and gone or about to go)so i am going to have to really switch up my cooking game when it is just hubby and i so that i am not tossing food in the trash...thanks for sharing your ideas...love your videos!!!
I wonder if cottage cheese is different in the UK, I can’t imagine it being subbed for ricotta! I quite like it on a cracker or something but I’d have to try blending it to see if the dry rubbery bits smooth out like hers does!
I still have my hifi with turn table, cassette and cd player included, my cassette Walkman and my disc man and they all still work, I have a child with disabilities and hate the words special needs, I prefer additional needs. I'm in the uk so our schools dont go back until September, that all depends on the virus though.
I make frozen breakfast burritos all the time. I started put the folded side down in a baking sheet that has a silicone mat on it then freeze it, then put them in bags. Save more patchment paper! I gotta try air fryer those!!!
Omg my Alexa shuffled new found glory but I didn't recognize the one that played. (probably because I'm a hippie- boomer) funny video😅 and I use cottage cheese and have been sprayed by popping the top seal off 🤣. I home schooled 30 years ago. Best days of my life and my son actually got a better education. Most were wasted hours in lines when he was in kindergarten and 1st grade before I pulled him out from realizing the teacher's aide was doing most of the teaching. A teacher girlfriend of mine at the time said I could do it AND she said she had to "unlearn" what she did as a regular teacher to do homeschooling when I told her I wasn't a teacher! 🙄😳
Please don't judge all of us public school teachers by one bad experience. We're people with faults like everyone else. You are fortunate that you were able to teach your child yourself. One to one is the ideal but not a practical reality.
@@pattyk101 I didn't judge all teachers. I have a cousin who is an excellent teacher and cares for her children. I even have my best friend who used to be a teacher's aide that got all of the work dumped on her by a bad lazy teacher. My point was that these parents who are now panicking about having to teach their children at home shouldn't be worried about not being able to do it, especially the younger elementary years. I got help with the more advanced program because I'm a nurse, not a school teacher (although I DID a lot of patient education in my 42 years being a nurse)
Yay for breakfast burritos! They were a huge win for dinner tonight. Thanks for the great ideas for using food I have in my freezer that I forgot about...
Belgium here, at the moment the second wave starts hitting my Province (Antwerpen) but school should start for the smaller kids (minus 12) september first, secondary school should start as well but only 3 days a week. We are now very close to a new Lockdown, Having to wear masks everywhere. Numbers are climbing alarmingly daily. That lasagna looks awesome
I live in the 3 ring of hell otherwise known as central Florida, the next couple months will reach magma core temps and potential catastrophic hurricanes. As of now our schools are slated to open we will be distance learning, so thankful I dont have to choose between my livelihood and lives.
I'm an American living in New Delhi. The school year here starts in April with a summer break in May/June. My daughter has been doing online classes all year so far with no talk of re-opening anytime soon. She thankfully enjoys it.
I’m from a Brisbane but do feel things will change for the worse. This is far from over but I have always been well stocked and things haven’t changed but am buying more stable shelf things, storing, properly, not getting caught out worse thing that can happen is we will have to eat it all eventually lol!
Younger people missed out on the fun on CDs jumping, answering a real phone and not being able to walk out of the room the phone was is. Video recorders chewing up the film as you get to the good bit. I feel so bad for them lol Im in the UK dont have kids but I was a lock in before the covid mess cuz well I dont like people, I did get covid back in feb/march but on the whole cuz Im a prepper I havent really been effected ecept getting sick and still dealing with lung issues from that.
That's the same here in Canada. Every place has made their own rules as far as going back to school. No decision in our town at all yet but in all honesty I can't see my 6 year old granddaughter sitting in class with a mask on all day (or any child for that matter), and I don't see the masks going away any time soon.
Alberta has made a decision and it sucks. Teachers are expected to do it all with no extra help or PPE and no cap size on classes or masks. When asked our premier of Alberta that teachers should be expected to"tidy" just like someone in any other job. Its been an interesting couple weeks for parents and teachers.
I always have a few lasagna noodles left. I put them in a plastic bag and eventually I have saved enough for a lasagna. We love lasagna. Just the two of us so I freeze most of a lasagna and thaw for a quick homemade dinner during the summer when I refuse to turn the oven on (too hot). Yep - cassettes were a thing. Arizona keeps changing its mind about when and how schools will be. Last I heard was mid August. Still a hot spot so I am guessing it will be moved to a later date. I am hoping for in school learning for the sake of the kids and parents. Supposedly kids do not get deathly ill from the virus. My first in store shopping trip tomorrow since February. I am really over this. Love you and the video. Have a wonderful week.
I'm loving the camera-in-the-fridge angle! Thanks for the tip about the air fryer. The worst part of the frozen breakfast burritos is the icky microwaved tortilla.
You nailed the burrito folding! I make breakfast burritos once a month for my hubby. He loves breakfast burritos with refried beans on the tortilla, chorizo/egg cooked together, and lots of cheese.
YES! I remember the cassette adaptor, but the adaptor for my car had an aux cable handing out so that I could plug in my phone. I don't have kids, but my district (Los Angeles USD) is 100% virtual. I'm trying to see what my work schedule is going to look like this fall and I might be volunteering to help supplement the teaching for some of the kids in my neighborhood.
Totally had a disc man in my 1989 Dodge Aries K car!!! ✌ Yesterday my baby (he is almost 18, and will be a senior) made a HUGE batch of breakfast burritos for the freezer! We put tator tots that we cook and chop up with our mix-n-chop. Good protein full breakfast for after weightlifting and football practice. He WILL be going back to school all day!!
For lasagna I always make lasagna rolls. You do need the classes noddles not no boil. Just roll up individual noddles filled with all the cooked meat mix and cheese mix. Then freeze them on a sheet pan not touching. Once frozen transfer to storage freezer bag. Then when you want lasagna pull out the amount of rolls you want. Pour sauce over them and cook for 30-40sh min. Usually my husband and I will each eat one or two rolls and my kids who are still younger will eat just one each or share. I will usually make a lot at once. One box of noddles will usually make 2-3 dinners for us. We also like this way because you can change up the sauce. Some times bake in white sauce. Yum!
Hello! I live in China( Hangzhou). i don't have kids yet but your budgeting tips are great. i am a senior university student. spring semester finished online for all. fall semester will be in class both for Chinese students and international students. Apart from a few cases here and there in some cities around China( which prompt a quick response from the government) everything is back to normal & everyone goes to work. I love your videos!
I taught summer school in person and it was great!! Unfortunately, our Gov in CA forced us into distance learning.... I cried all weekend after his announcement! Teaching needs to happen in person!!!
Your videos always bring a smile to my face. I especially love when Hailey comes in a cooks too. Hope y’all are staying safe. I’m on the east coast and my state seems to not know what it wants to do. I think they are wanting to do school face to face but some schools are like “no, we are doing all virtual”. I have no clue.
Hey Christine, Love your vids! We live in Melbourne, Australia. We're in lockdown and the kids have just gone back to study from home (highschool - week 2). The kids probably learn more effectively at school. Thankful to be working from home and we all are healthy. Can be overwhelming at times, but we are thankful for our health and health system. My dad lives near Boston and what's happening in parts of the States looks intense! Stay happy and healthy!
I had those big tape decks in my car and I had a bunch of Alabama and Credence Clearwater music! Before those were created we just had radios! I'm so proud of our school district they offer two options: online or in school. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney P.S. If you melt the peanut butter just a tad it's easier to mix.
Hi - I had that same CD setup in my car when I was 19/20...for a while, I had a boombox on the seat, too. With a coat-hanger antenna, As for school - we live in New York City. Still have another month of summer vacation. We don't have a clear idea of what school will be in the fall. They're talking about a blended school set up with kids going to school some days, and other days home. Or, what we chose, 100% remote school until things shake out better. Love your content, even though I live in an apartment with a small fridge and only have two kids and a husband to feed!
I just learned of a great cottage cheese snack. Cottage cheese, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a tablespoon of THM gentle sweet or whatever non sugar sweetener you want, and a handful of mixed berries. It was so good!
I just did this last night! Ended up with romaine and kale salad, turkey pasta with mushrooms and bell peppers and frozen breakfast sandwiches for the freezer! Its like me and Christine are in sync!!
Years ago my kids really really want d lasagna for dinner and I was feeling extra "efficient" that day so I literally tossed all of the lasagna ingredients into a pan and cooked it all up (shredded cheese included) and then pour the melted goodness on top of cooked rigatoni (then mix well) and bam, lazy lasagna was born. Have never gone back to the traditional layered version. My entire family (and extended family) love it. You should try it. So easy and so yummy. I now make "lazy lasagna" a couple times a month vs a couple times a year previously because I hated the process so much. I hope you try it. Good luck! P.S. Try using command hooks to hang your stockings. Will not ruin your beautifully painted walls.
Hi from Illinois! I'm student teaching and both districts I'll be in are offering hybrid and full virtual options to families but I will be in the schools fulltime as of latest info which also means my kid will be in daycare fulltime at least for student teaching. I'm more concerned about the schools than the daycare because they've been open this entire time for hospital and other essential workers and handling precautions beautifully. I'm currently meal prepping which is confusing some fellow students in my cohort but my family is used to it. It really helps especially when my spouse is gone for weeks or more for work. This was funny timing for me because I already planned on making freezer burritos this week (breakfast and bean ones). :) I always love watching your videos and usually do when I am doing freezer meal prep or batch cooking.
Hi Christine, logging in late today, you said you didn't really like Lasagna, and I know your keen on keeping your children healthy, I too use cottage cheese in my lasagna, but also add some spinach, give them the greens when they least expect it, great idea for breakfast burritos and kitchen cleanup. I need to do the same.
My food waste was so staggering... we started planning based on what we have and our food budget has gone down! Thank you for the inspiration!
Such a good way to save money! :)

For us its always spaghetti noodles haha
Omg I saw New Found Glory lives years ago in the UK. They were the opening act to Paramore 😊
Oh yeah I had the cassette adapter. I also had the very large binder full of CDs from BMG music club.

Me too! Praying we don't turn into Victoria though, it's scary over there!
I'm in N.S.W and praying we don't turn into Vic as well. On a tightrope!
I'm in WA and grateful for how much better the situation is here than in Vic and other parts of the world
Hello fellow South Aussie
Love watching you Christine.Watch you everyday.
I’ve never been more happy to be child free in my life during these crazy times. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with my work (I’m a med lab technologist in a hospital so obviously I’m still working and essential) and figure out what to do with kids who can’t go to school.
Man, I remember those days with the discman and the cassette adapter for the car... memories!
I saw a tip once that you could spray the meat chopper with nonstick spray to keep meat from sticking to it :)
Love your hair like that!!!
Central Texas here. 16yr old daughter entering her JR year, face to face with the option of doing online. Love the fridge/pantry clean out recipes!
Oh man, the sheer amount of batteries I went through to play the discman in the car lol and OMG the dreaded bumpy roads!
We just cleaned out our fridge of all the little dibs and dabs of stuff that accumulates for some unknown reason...partial bags if shredded cheese half a container of sour cream and partial boxes of pasta equal homemade mac and cheese/ a pound of cooked ground beef and 47 partial bags(not really but you know what i mean) of frozen veggies equals vegetable beef soup...my fridge looks kinda empty now but i am glad none of that food was wasted
We are soon to be empty nesters (3 kids all grown up and gone or about to go)so i am going to have to really switch up my cooking game when it is just hubby and i so that i am not tossing food in the trash...thanks for sharing your ideas...love your videos!!!
Past Christine: “So I used way too much honey.”
Future Christine: “Why are these so sticky?”
NOOOO lol I hate when you video ends. I love watching! Maybe one day we can get more longer video's lol. Thanks for sharing with us and them coming
I'm older than enough!!!! I grew up with 8- track. Lol.
I grew up with shellac, then vinyl. You’re still young.
Me too
Transistor radio, here! I’m ancient.
I had the cassette adapter, first with the CD player, then with my first ipod. Those were the DAYS!
Tbh, I thought I was the only person who used cottage cheese instead of ricotta. Finally, the representation we need! Lol
Me too! Cant stand ricotta- it's so dry and weird
I've use cottage cheese, all the time so did my mom...
I also prefer cottage cheese! There’s a super easy crockpot lasagna that uses cottage cheese, and it’s delicious!!! I hate the texture of ricotta!
I wonder if cottage cheese is different in the UK, I can’t imagine it being subbed for ricotta! I quite like it on a cracker or something but I’d have to try blending it to see if the dry rubbery bits smooth out like hers does!
No mam i use cottage cheese i like it better
You could also make baked ziti instead of the lasagna
I still have my hifi with turn table, cassette and cd player included, my cassette Walkman and my disc man and they all still work, I have a child with disabilities and hate the words special needs, I prefer additional needs. I'm in the uk so our schools dont go back until September, that all depends on the virus though.
My friends over you!!! I've been watching all your videos, but now I really understood why you are so awesome! Gotta love late 90's pop punk.
I’m in Southern CA, LA county, and my kids aren’t going back to school. Your lasagna looks delicious 😋!
Helena Franck I am so sorry. All the best and stay safe.
I stumbled along your channel a couple days ago and I cannot stop watching your videos
I live in the 3 ring of hell otherwise known as central Florida, the next couple months will reach magma core temps and potential catastrophic hurricanes. As of now our schools are slated to open we will be distance learning, so thankful I dont have to choose between my livelihood and lives.
I rocked the cd/cassette adapter😉 I’m older so I listened to Def Leppard and Poison a lot of the time. The lasagnas look amazing!
When you reheat the breakfast burritos in the air fryer, did you leave the parchment paper around it?
Nope, we took it off!
I'm an American living in New Delhi. The school year here starts in April with a summer break in May/June. My daughter has been doing online classes all year so far with no talk of re-opening anytime soon. She thankfully enjoys it.
We’re in Perth, so things are almost back to normal over here. It feels like we’re in a bubble tbh. It’s quite tough in Victoria and NSW though 🙁
Hi Mariah! Fellow Perth girl here! So cool to find someone else from WA here :)
From Brissie and I agree!
Adelaide here. Were also in a bubble
I’m from a Brisbane but do feel things will change for the worse. This is far from over but I have always been well stocked and things haven’t changed but am buying more stable shelf things, storing, properly, not getting caught out worse thing that can happen is we will have to eat it all eventually lol!
You always give me such good ideas to help cut down on food waste. We always have left over tortillas but now I know what to do with them!!
Sending you love from the U.S.
We’ve been graced by her majesty! Love the the blush, eyes and huuuuuuur ❤️
That is awesome!
With my husband's teaching background, he really feels the same!
Hello from McCall 😃. I haven’t found a lot of us Idaho TH-camrs...so glad I found your channel ❤️. Take care and God bless!
Discman with the cassette adapter!!! Old school!!!! I love it
live in Caldwell id my 27 yr old son lives with me has Aspergers we did not have any problem with the bug thank God watch you every day
Your videos always bring a smile to my face. I especially love when Hailey comes in a cooks too. Hope y’all are staying safe. I’m on the east coast and my state seems to not know what it wants to do. I think they are wanting to do school face to face but some schools are like “no, we are doing all virtual”. I have no clue.
Eating breakfast while watch your videos ❤️ makes my morning.
Hey Christine,
Love your vids!
Run the Show I’m also a Melb girl. I’m also grateful for our healthcare system.
I’m really enjoying the fun you and your daughter have. Much like me and mine. A friend for life. 💕
I had those big tape decks in my car and I had a bunch of Alabama and Credence Clearwater music! Before those were created we just had radios! I'm so proud of our school district they offer two options: online or in school. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney
P.S. If you melt the peanut butter just a tad it's easier to mix.
Hi - I had that same CD setup in my car when I was 19/20...for a while, I had a boombox on the seat, too. With a coat-hanger antenna,
As for school - we live in New York City.
My grandson lives in North Carolina and there is remote school indefinitely . Lucky my daughter is a stay at home mom
I just learned of a great cottage cheese snack. Cottage cheese, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a tablespoon of THM gentle sweet or whatever non sugar sweetener you want, and a handful of mixed berries. It was so good!
CD player with the tape adapter...yes!!! Totally remember!!
I'm from Ohio, my kids are too young for school.
Air fryer burritos ... genius!!
Heck yeah! CD player with cassette adaptor life!!! I was around 17 or so with the same situation 😝 Felt so cool 😎
I just did this last night! Ended up with romaine and kale salad, turkey pasta with mushrooms and bell peppers and frozen breakfast sandwiches for the freezer! Its like me and Christine are in sync!!
We are vibing!!! ;)
Good morning. That was fun! Time for breakfast.
We’re in NewYork and have decided to homeschool this year. I’m a stay at home mom, so thankfully I have that option.
I LOOOOVE my meat chopper too. I love my hunky hubby cooking in the kitchen too!
Lasagna rolls are a different twist on lasagna and they are super good.
your hair looks great like that. thanks for being so inspiring to so many. god bless.
